Red Drum fish just a little too big to keep (breeding stock). Would have been good eats!

Found Captain Kent on Yelp and TripAdvisor. Was the highest rated guy we found in our area, and it was easy to see why! Captain Kent was knowledgeable, informative, and a lot of fun. Not only did we catch a large variety of fish throughout the whole trip, but Captain Kent was just a good dude in general. Our group hadn't done more than some bass and catfish fishing in Ohio prior to the trip, so we weren't too sure how'd we do our first time out on the open water. Captain Kent made sure we always knew what we were doing, which helped everyone relax and have a great time. Once we got our feet wet with the smaller fish, we decided to move on to some bigger sharks. It wasn't long before we were "quaded up" with all four of us reeling in 4-6ft sharks. So much fun! If you're looking for a fun, knowledgeable guide, Captain Kent will make sure you have the trip of a lifetime no matter your skill level. Can't recommend him enough.

Bonnet head shark. Catch of the day

My son and his friends decided they wanted to go shark fishing while on spring break in HHI a few weeks ago. We were pleased with Captain Kent and Megabites Charter. Although we didn't catch a lot of fish, Captain Kent worked hard to give us the best experience possible. He was in continuous communications with other charters around us looking for the best spot. Most of the other charters were not catching much fish either that day. We fished in both the river, and sound where we could see the famous HHI lighthouse Now for our catches. We pulled in two bait fish. We also caught something pretty heavy which ended up being about a two foot diameter sting ray. We worked hard to get him to the side of the boat where we were all able to see him, but the ray worked himself off the hook. We finally ended up catching a bonnet-head shark. Just under 2 feet. All in all, a great day with the boys. I would recommend Captain Kent in the future.

Captain Kent has created a very enjoyable and entertaining business for himself. My father and I are very experienced fisherman in both bay and deep sea fishing, Kent gave us the perfect experience that we were looking for, including challenging fishing experiences for an extremely fair and affordable price. Overall he is a great captain with many years of experience under his belt which is perfect for creating fishing days that are tailored to the customers individual needs. If you are an experienced fisherman he is definitely the charter you should be contacting in order to have a great experience.

Within 30 min of heading out we were hooking up with the Bull Red's non stop for two hours until we were too tired to reel anymore in. By 7:40 he netted more bait then we could use. Off into the Atlantic we went for the adventure. Once anchored, within 10 minutes, we had our first bites - but we couldn't get them reeled in. Then it got exciting. Over the next hour and a half we caught FIVE SHARKS - a HAMMERHEAD, BONNETHEAD, BLACK TIP and 2 BLACK NOSE. We were able to bring 4 of them into the boat for a picture before we threw them back. Our 21-year-old daughter got the trophy for the day as she reeled in a 5 foot long BLACK TIP SHARK that was well over the boat limited - WAY to big to handle (well over 100 lbs) so Captain Ben cut the hook out while leaning next to the boat and let him go. Thank you to Captain Ben and Off the Hook Fishing Charters for making one of the best memories ever!

I live in a tourist town in Florida so it's annoying but part of life in paradise. I guess the entrance fee covers your parking because it's all free once you pass the guard gates, all that's required is luck finding a space within a reasonable walking distance, I got lucky today being someone was pulling out just as I arrived at the preferred parking lot a stones throw from the pier. The pier is well constructed and offers some great views and a covered sitting area at the end. There are plenty of charter businesses that run parallel to the pier and a number of placards describing some of the local bird and sea inhabitants. I always spend some time on the local piers when visiting different areas they all seem to offer a few moments of serenity. There is also a walking beach close by that looks like it offers some shelling opportunities but today that option looks limited, I'm sure most visitors grab a few free souvenirs from here. It's a must do while visiting Harbour Town and this alone is worth the price of admission when considering the parking is free...

I think that due to the distance from Savannah, this pier does not get a lot of usage compared to others in the area. The pier side of the creek also contains a boat ramp about a one-half mile from the pier, with the pier situated at the end of the road. There are no public facilities or running water at the pier, with two portable restrooms the only structures located there. While fishing, there are great views of the Lazaretto Creek Bridge. Visible on the other side of the creek are several fishing and charter boats, jet skiers, kayakers and several restaurants. In between catching fish, activity from these businesses is more than enough to keep you occupied while enjoying the picturesque views. It is never too busy at the pier, with weekend traffic consisting of about ten people. Consider Lazaretto Fishing Pier if you desire a peaceful and scenic fishing experience.

I think this might have been my first fishing expedition and I would do it again. I suggest getting there early enough to get situated. What I didn't know was you could bring backpacks and flexible coolers which are stored inside the boat area. Most people brought sandwiches and snacks for the journey. They also have a concession stand inside which serves food, snacks, soft drinks and beer. The prices are reasonable. Even the $85 for the 5.5 hour excursion seemed very reasonable as well. They provide all the equipment and bait. You just need to bring your skills or possibly patience. The crew helps to show you how to fish and takes care of anything you may catch and want to bring back. They do the fileting as well as packing of the fish. For my group, we just wanted to hang out and enjoy the open seas. Most of us caught something, but nothing worth keeping. All catch and release. We start out going through the tributaries towards Calibogue Sound towards Daufuskie Island. There are some artificial reefs we were able to anchor near. The Captain knows where most of the fish are. Some folks on our excursion caught some decent size fish which they were keeping. I caught a Croaker, but tossed it back. A family with small children had some sea sickness so it's important to bring Dramamine or buy some on the ship. I could see that the boat was equipped for much more serious fishing, but they tailored the trip to our ability. The boat had ample shaded space, so we didn't fry out there either. We caught mostly sharks, and almost snagged one cobia. That would have been very cool, because when you dock they will take it to the skull creek boathouse to prepare for your dinner. All in all we had a great day, and I think everyone who goes to hilton head should go out with Papa Bear.

Our evening tour included a visit to shell island, some more fishing (we caught another shark), and a sunset cruise, and a stop to watch the fireworks.
