You could hire the fanciest stylist and most well-known makeup artist in Toronto, but what if they take 10 days to reply to your email or only give you the time of day a week before your wedding? That might not be a problem to some couples, but it was to us. It actually took awhile for us to find a makeup artist in Toronto who a) didn't have certain demands regarding travel, packages, etc., b) didn't take 5 days to respond to us, c) actually showed genuine compassion and interest in their work and craft, and for their client. I met Daniela a few months before our wedding, and knew she was the one! Out of over 20 makeup artists in Toronto that I contacted, she was the only one who suggested an in-person meeting to talk about my wedding. Honestly, I can't even express how much I appreciated that. She came to our meeting prepared, actually took the time to take notes and understand what I'd be wearing, the look and style I was going for, etc. I knew from the very start that, with Daniela, I was in very good, talented, and responsible hands. And as a bride, trust in your vendor is so key - and I trusted Daniela fully! On our wedding day, Daniela came early and prepared, and was totally unfazed when my mom changed her mind about what she wanted. She is the epitome of creativity, talent, and professionalism. And most importantly - I loved the look she gave me on our wedding day! She can do so many types of looks, and can totally diversify if you ask her to. Show her a picture of what you want - and she'll replicate it. She is so incredibly talented, and you absolutely can't go wrong with choosing her to do your makeup, for whatever occasion, wedding or otherwise! My make-up looked beautiful and I had loads of compliments about it all day. Daniela even gave me my own tube of touch-up gloss to go, so that I could keep myself looking fresh all day. She has a great set up with fabulous lighting and she did my make-up in a beautiful, natural look. She's also a very warm person and great conversationalist, even managed to make me forget I was getting married in several hours and I felt quite calm after. Thanks Daniela!!

I made my appointment for a Saturday and slept in past my alarm... great first impression. I was late and so nervous to meet with my new stylist, Michelle. She looked past my tardiness and listened to my every concern. I'm thinking I may have found "the one" for my hair. After we spoke about what I wanted, the first question she asked is "what's your budget?". I was taken aback by the question because it was so thoughtful and real of her to ask. I knew what I could afford and she was willing to work within my budget. She was easy to get along with; the conversation didn't feel forced or routine. It was natural. The salon itself is beautiful. It's clean with high industrial type ceilings. The walls aren't cluttered and the shelving tastefully displays their products in a non-in-your-face kind of way. The end result made my eyes tear up! I haven't felt proud of my hair in a really long time. It would usually take 3-4 weeks after a salon trip that I'd finally start to like my hair again. The colour would be washing out, the cut slowing growing into something less blunt and choppy. This time, I left the salon SO HAPPY. I don't want my hair to grow out or the colour to fade. I absolutely adore everything Michelle did to make me love my locks again. Seriously 10/10. Not once did I feel like she was trying to sell her products or line to me, not once did I feel ripped off or overcharged. Above all of this, Michelle took the time to answer all my questions and really explain to me how I can style my hair on a day to day basis. She walked me through blow drying, curling and product application. I now feel confident and excited to try new things. Looking forward to my next visit already!

When Jen opened BD North I was thrilled as her talent as a stylist, colourist and teacher could now be translated to a whole team. BD North is a rare salon where customer service and education are a top priority. Jen will always be my #1 stylist but her team is so incredibly talented if she can't fit me in I would happily go to any one of them. My most recent appointment was Wednesday, November 1st, 2017 when I went in for the big CHOP. It is something Jen and I have been talking about and planning for the last year. My hair went from close to my bum to just past my shoulders and turned out better than I could have hoped. That is the kind of service and talent you get when you go to BD North.

This review is for the Halloween makeup Jessica created for me this past weekend…read more Jessica is an amazing make-up artist who listened to all my suggestions in creating a "devil" Halloween makeup look for me. She gave me such a unique look that set myself apart from many others that night and really guided me through the application process. Jessica is great at what she does and I couldn't be happier with the look she created for me this past weekend. My makeup lasted from 1pm to 3am the next morning (when I decided to take it off). Jessica is also very responsive and was very accommodating with my nearly last-minute request for makeup application. She advised I come 10 minutes early to go over and plan the look that she was going to give me. I would recommend Jessica to my closest family and friends because I was so comfortable and trust her expertise.
