As one of the few Americans who have been here, (I was told I was the first) I feel I need to leave a review.
Starting out with the building, the name tells it all. From the outside you wouldn't suspect a restaurant. There is plenty of parking around the building. The windows have been bricked up and pictures from the building's past have been put up inside to look at. The interior is very bright and comfortable with lots of space and seating. I think the word koselig would be great to describe the interior.
They have a lunch menu and serve dinner, but they also serve traditional Norwegian food as well. I was lucky enough to experience the very beginning of the jul season food. We had made reservations a little bit in advance because this place gets busy, especially around the holidays. Reservations would be my first suggestion.
The food was nothing less than amazing. I'm not sure if foreigners try lutefisk or pinnekjot while on vacation but it was delicious. The portion sizes are pretty big and some dishes even came with a second helping. Two plates of lutefisk? I will take it! I broke out of custom and tried a little bit of everything that was ordered. The meat was cooked just right and all the veggies were good.
The staff was wonderful. They were on top of things the whole night.
Pros: Great food and great ambiance of the place. Good service from the staff. Lots of parking available outside. read more
