Needed front blower motor, front and rear pads and rotors, ac looked at, check engine light looked at and fix the door lock actuator that failed. Tech recommended an oil filter housing, power steering, brake flushes, cabin filter and alignment. The main technician is older and can't bend to do certain jobs. making my wife's vehicle the job of his understudy. I did not want that person to do anything with the door lock actuator due to inexperience. Ryan Scott , General Manager, assured me ( after I had talked with Mr Andrew Brown about this exact thing) this was no big deal and we will get it taken care of. I asked to not do it but he said no we will get it done. I said no. Took shop truck home due to vehicle being in pieces. Finished next day 40 minutes past closing. Found out driving home I had no heat or coolant and overheated. I turned around and parked van, texted Tyler Ousley and Ryan Scott about the overheating and the middle door not working. It was my day off and got a messege maybe 45 minutes into the morning saying vehicle was fixed. I was out so picked up after hours and was not in fact OK but had already spent 3 entire days at shop. This was March. I had many, many conversations with Mr Scott saying the van is messed up. Now the right side sliding door no longer stow and go seat work, right middle heated seat inop right middle. window inop . missing plastic panel on floor next to sliding door. some vents now do not work in the back section. And to top it off the brakes squeal when stopping. Most likely front. ac was never checked as requested cel was never checked as requested. Almost like it was just ripped and torn apart with malice. Mr Scott said just bring it in no worries. Well March turned to April. Then suddenly Tech is sick/hurt/jury duty/ vacation. Then Mr Scott went on vacation. I start to get really annoyed but then May hits, I ask again . I also ask for a raise and a promotion to Mr Douglas Smeltzer. I worked with Mike Mcsorely for 15 years at Pepboys. I previously was a goodyear employee from 2005 to 2008. Instead got fired. and spent 2200 in an area that will cost more than that to fix what Goodyear ( not ase) technician broke. I have receipts, pictures and texts. I would like my wife's vehicle fixed at a dealership and be refunded for this horrible situation. And I won't even go into the 3rd party private info of mine being shared between Richland County Sherriffs Dept and my place of employment. I was interviewing for a job at sheriff's office amd for some reason they felt it OK to share my personal emails to my work. and then my work firing me. You know this may be a big privacy violation I may need to look into legally. I would like to be treated with respect and integrity like I gave here. I would really rather not hear from store level personnel. They had months

No reason this should have been an issue. Hope the next tire place that goes in here is better.

I was in the neighborhood of one of the large retail muffler and brake shops, so against my better judgment, I decided to let them look at it. I was told by the manager that my AC compressor was bad and that I needed a new one. The manager claimed to be an HVAC expert and quoted me around $650 to do the job. I was not convinced, so I began to look for a local mechanic. I must say that I stumbled on Mid-Ohio Automotive with a simple Google search. Bryan (the owner) was very professional yet somewhat skeptical (based on his years of experience with HVAC) about the information I had received from the chain store. Bryan suggested I bring it in and let him take a look at it. I agreed. Well, am I glad I found this businessman! He did all of the diagnostics and advised that my compressor was working just fine. One possible reason for the AC malfunction could have been a bad contact with the temperature gauge. It's odd, but it is definitely not a faulty AC compressor. The AC is blowing cold now, so I decided that I am just going to drive it and see how it goes. If I experience trouble again, I am definitely going back to Mid-Ohio. In short, Bryan is honest, fair, and extremely knowledgeable. He will not advise you to do any work that does not need done. He uses only quality parts and should be recognized for his upstanding business practices. If you live in the Mansfield area and are in need of a mechanic you can trust, do yourself a favor and take your vehicle to Mid-Ohio Automotive at 85 S. Illinois Avenue, Mansfield, OH.

We had taken good care of the car so when my mechanic told me that the only thing wrong was a "small leak in the flex pipe" we told him to fix it just in case. 8 hours and over 500 miles later we were shocked when it sounded like we were riding a Harley because...you guessed it....the flexpipe had completely fallen off. Enter Tommy and AAR. Unfortunately he was closed by the time we reached him but we left the car at his garage and stayed at the Holiday Inn up the street. The next morning, as soon as he got in, Tommy and his co mechanic, whose name I unfortunately never got, brought the car in. (He even bumped a local customer because he heard about our road trip and wanted to get us moving ASAP) Within minutes they had diagnosed the problem and were on the job. After only a few hours we got the call that the car was ready and sure enough it purred like a kitten. My mother brought it back to the hotel and we loaded up, but OH NO, the check engine light was still on! We immediately drove back to AAR and showed Tommy, who delayed lunch to put it back on the lift and check it out. It was soon diagnosed as a loose connector which he put back together and secured. When all was said and done Tommy got us back on in 4 and a half hours, only charged us $150 and was one of the kindest, most hard working individuals I've ever met. I could never recommend him enough, whether you're local or you get in a bind you should go to AAR. Oh and did I mention that Tommy texted me to check up on the car and our trip? Highly recommend!

Picture this: It's the 4th of July weekend. I've got the family loaded in the van for a 900 mile…read moredrive from Philly to Northern Michigan. About 100 miles in I start to hear a slight clanking at the front of the car. The transmission? Something loose? For the next 100 miles I pretend that I don't hear it. But it gets worse and it even starts to make the van shake slightly. By the time we get into Ohio I decide I gotta get it checked out. But where? I find a national chain repair shop and stop in and explain my situation. The earliest they could check it out would be in a week. Ugh. I stop at another major chain. The dude at the counter leans over, looks both ways, opens his wallet and pulls out a card. "Put this address in your gps, tell um that I sent you from x auto service. They'll take care of you." So I drive into downtown Mansfield, find the address, and pull around back to AAR. I explain my situation and the guy I talk to drops what he's doing to check it out. We drive about 30 feet and he has it diagnosed as a bad axle. A bad axle. I'm thinking this is bad--it's about 5:00 pm on Friday night of a holiday weekend. We go back to the shop and the other guy calls their parts guy. The parts guy says that he'll have the new axle sent over first thing in the morning. The AAR guy says it'll be a little over 200 bucks and I should be on my way by noon. I'm thinking, "seriously? It's gotta be too good to be true." So we get a hotel room and the next morning (Saturday) I show up with the van (plus coffee and donuts). No BS about waiting outside. In just over 2 hours--the van is almost 20 years old and it's a VW after all--they get the job done! They even took the time to add the proper oil to the transmission and check on a couple of other things. But the new axle was exactly what I needed and the van worked great for the rest of our trip. Smooth sailing. If you're looking for a guy in a bow tie at a nice service counter you should probably go somewhere else. If you're looking for a dude in a lawn chair and some good ol' boys that know how to fix cars, not just sell tires and brake jobs, than Affordable Auto Repair is the place for you.
