I was treated to my first class here from a friend who knew I needed it when I didnt even know. I have taken two Yin Yoga classes with Shawna (I believe that is her name, I am so bad at that lol). As someone who has tried yoga before I was really nervous to try again but the Yin was exactly what I needed. I did struggle a little bit, but Shawna was absolutely kind and understanding and lets you go at your own pace. It was amazing. This past weekend, I did the Gentle Walk Home to yourself workshop with Maggie. ABSOLUTELY OBSESSED!!! This was incredible. It was a 3 hour workshop and my friend recommended it to me as she felt I could really benefit from it. I am forever grateful. I had no idea what to expect, and towards the beginning, Maggie had us write in a journal and I got unexpectedly emotional. Really emotional and I cried. I let a LOT out. I raised my hand when people were sharing their experience during that, and in this room full of women I had never met, they were so caring and supportive. They crawled over and hugged me. They thanked me. They got up and hugged me and rubbed my shoulder when they walked by at the break. Maggie thanked me. I will not share any additional details of the workshop as there are no photos or videos and I respect the confidentiality but it was the best thing I have done in as long as I can remember. It was 3 hours of just pure self care and love and support. I can not express how grateful I am for Maggie, for my friend that recommended this, and every single woman in that workshop that made me feel so loved and comfortable and supported. It was honestly life altering. I let out so much I was holding on to, I slept so good Saturday night!!

What sets this shala apart is Diana (owner) and its deep respect for the integrity of the Ashtanga lineage while still making the practice accessible and welcoming. The Mysore-style environment is especially exceptional. There's a quiet energy in the room, focused, supportive, and deeply personal. Each student is met exactly where they are, with thoughtful adjustments and guidance that feel both safe and elevating. I started as a super newbie here and began with ONLY the restore classes which I absolutely love. Breezy and Louise are were my OG's. Both encouraged me to try other classes and made it an easy transition to try em out. Fast forward and I just completed my 300th class and like I first stated...this Dana Point Y6 staff and community are amazing. Every class style gives you a little something different and then each teacher brings their own personality and experience. From meditation and breathing techniques to pushing myself in power or sculpt to the themed classes and candlelight classes to yoga bingo...every hour has been rewarding. If you are looking for a great studio with amazing staff and teachers...this is the place. You will feel it in mind and body. Something for all levels (truly all levels). I feel spoiled I got so lucky having this place right here in my neighborhood. Bringing Ashlie in has been a great bonus to the studio and our Dana Point community. Between Darbi and Ashlie they are always checking in to see how classes have been; asking about my interest in workshops; and simply being a great support system along my yoga journey. Shoutout to Louise, Luis, Michelle and Breezy for their guidance and instruction. Love flowing with you all and can't wait to share each milestone with you!!!!

This was my second full yoga class in my life…read more I took one a week ago and on that Saturday 8/16 felt out of sync, a spectator and wanted to quit at the 26 and 34 minute mark. I did finish that hour long class but not till today, till I experienced Corepower Yoga Mission Viejo's 11 am Community Flow with heat did I get excited, understand it better, connect with what the stellar teacher Danica was saying, moved better, was pumped , was happier and loved the entire 60 plus minutes of sweat and movement. I loved that Danica repeated " at your own pace and do move as far as you can for eg; She was so authentic and kind. She spoke from the heart and connected the class's theme and message to real life using her own example. This stiff 405 pound bench pressing, 1/2 marathon and 5 K running, 3 hours of racquetball playing wanna be muscle head moron found himself starting to get the leg up in certain positions, actually touch my toes without screaming , move better with the stretching and the heat. I felt the crunches today. I mean having a leg up and then going across with the hand behind the head left to right and vice versa was work but lovely! I am hooked. I loved this. The studio was beautiful. They had cleaning supplies and ample wipes visibly available. The lobby area was clean and inviting. The men's locker room was modern with showers and nice lockers. CorePower Yoga Mission Viejo offers classes for all levels. They also have mats and towels available. The first visit either one was free. I had a beautiful experience.

This CPY location has showers (approx. 6 stalls), restrooms, and a small store selling yoga wear in the front. You have to bring your own yoga mat, towel, and water bottle when you come, but they also rent them (yoga mat is $4, towel is $2 i think) at the front. Set in a slightly heated room, it's a combination of CP2, but with weights. CPY ranks this class as an advanced class with medium heat. During this class, we focused on full body (exercises like static lunges, squat to shoulder press, planks, etc.) and also held vinyasa flow poses with weights. I really enjoyed how it was progressively more challenging each time we returned to a sequence. The instructor (Wendy Black) was really energetic and had an upbeat playlist, which was perfect for the class type. I'm glad to have tried this class, and I'll definitely try this format out again!
