This place used to be known as Redmond Terrace Barber Shop when it resided in a shopping center of the same name a few years back. I think that the current name is much more appropriate. This is THE barber shop to visit in B/CS if you want a quality cut at a great price. I think that the old-school barber shop feel is dying out in many places, but you can definitely still experience it here. I have a great barber in Houston, but I stop by The Barber Shop each time that I pass through College Station. The owner (Dan) recently passed away, but somehow I'm not worried about the future of this place. This is where "those who know" have been coming for years. read more

Do NOT go here, you willl waste your time especially if you do not have an appointment. I came in as a walk in and didnt even get acknowledged. They only service the appointmentments and will not cut a walkins hair even though the appointment they are waiting on is over 10 minutes late. The batber(s) will just wait at their chair on their phone. Also, I am brown skinned with an all white baraber staff hence the non acknowledgement. Stay away from this place especially if you are a person of color. I left after an hour of waiting. Terrible. read more

Well once in a great while you come across a young barber with exceptional talent and Kevin at The Barbershop is such a barber. He cut my very challenging horseshoe flattop with razor shaved sides to perfection. His face shave has few equals. A real perfectionist....give Kevin a try as you won't . Anyone with a problem with this shop just has a problem with themselves not the shop! Hey your going to get a haircut - not a life changing event. You don't have to have girls in sports uniforms cut your hair. Look for your dates elsewhere! This shop is like what I grew up with. Great haircut, no nonsense. For years I had a great "stylist", barber in another city. Moved here and unwittingly went to the several "theme" places around here. ("sports" this, "great" that, "classic" whatever), big mistake. The last place I went my "stylist" looked like Prince and had 3 inch nails. NO WAY, EVER AGAIN. Returned to my "roots". Try it - you will love it! read more

Really liked the place. A bit off the beaten path since it lacks visability from Texas, but it had a steady stream of customers when I was there. After my visit, I can see why. Definitely is a throwback to the old barber shop - if you want anything too fancy, I don't know I would come here. But if you are a guy getting a hair cut that you could have gotten in the 70's-80's, you won't find a place that will do a better job for a less amount of money. I had Gilbert who was great. He used a straight razor for my neck, around my ears and my sideburns. Hard to find a place that does that now due to liability concerns but it keeps the hair growing back a lot longer than just using an electric razor. FYI - this place also does beard trims and pretty sure they do straight razor facial shaves too, which is really hard to find. I'll probably have them do that for me the next time I need to get really dressed up. read more

Horrible haircut. Maybe it's just my city mentality but the whole process was a real pain in the ass. I asked for a taper fade and she gave me..a.. well I don't know what this is. I usually pay 15 bucks for my haircut which includes a tip for exactly what I want but at this place I paid 20 bucks for a terrible week of hair. If you are looking for a nice clean fade do not go to this shop. Learn to cut your own hair trust me you're better off this way. read more

Very good barber. I walked in at 12:30 on a Monday and got a chair right away. 3 of the 4 barbers were female. I got Cecil. He listened to what I wanted and delivered. Cut a perfect fade. It took about 25 minutes. They take credit card now, but have a $1 cash discount. I'll be a regular here. read more

I almost walked out when I saw the staff and customers, but decided to give them a chance since I didn't want to be prejudiced. They only know how to cut wh*te people's hair, and wh*te people usually either have very simple haircuts or don't care how they look. Lady did not know how to fade hair at all, I asked for a medium fade with a 4 on top and she proceeded to give me, i really dont even know what to call it, maybe an extremely round buzz cut. When I told her I thought maybe she went a little too high on the sides (really high, I didnt really have a fade at all) she said "are you sure? A medium fade is supposed to be 1 inch above the ear." I almost started crying bro, on god. That's not what a medium fade is, people have different sized heads you can't just follow that rule of thumb. And she didn't know how to blend it in at all because I had a really weird rounded top that made my head look like an egg. Yeah they need to get back to the mannequin heads and learn how to fade. Avoid at all costs if you are ethnic, but im sure they're pretty good at simple trims. 2 stars because they didn't make me pay when they saw how disappointed I was. read more

Have been going to this place for 8 years now. 5 stars for 6 of those years but these last two years have been going downhill. If you ask for 2 of the regulars, you will get a good haircut. But they have these new fillins and I think they get them from supercuts or something. For 15 dollars plus tip, please train them on terms like tapering the back and thinning out. Otherwise I can just go get a supercut hair cut at well, supercuts for 8 bucks. Again please teach them tapering the back is not a box cut. Thanks. read more

Used to love this place but now has went to one barber by appointment (ie clean up the back with straight razor etc). The rest are female that give you a good cut but for $18 or so with tip, can get the same cut at one of the budget cut places for cheaper. read more
