I just wanted to come on here and say how amazing this place, and the work that they do is. I am severely afraid of needles and have a tendency to pass out after giving blood. (they are unrelated to each other) Every time I donate I make it a point to mention both of those things and they never make me feel like an inconvenience for it. I typically do feel bad because when they've asked if someone can learn on me, I always say yes. I've watched people learn new tricks on me like using a towel or gauze to cover the injection site. Or putting an icepack behind my neck and on my chest if I feel faint. Even though it's just their job, they are some of the funniest people to make conversation with and always so understanding and compassionate. I'm not a person who writes reviews, but I truly want everyone to know that not only is the work that they're doing so fantastic but that the experience is too! read more

Founded in 1948, Memorial Blood Centers (MBC), operated by New York Blood Center Enterprises, is one of the largest community-based, nonprofit blood collection and distribution organizations in the United States. MBC operates 10 donor centers in Minnesota and western Wisconsin and provides blood products, accredited reference lab services, infectious disease testing, and IVF/Reproductive Medicine services to 41 area hospitals. History

Established in 1948.

The need for a coordinated system to receive, store, and distribute blood became obvious to many Americans during World War II, when the availability of an adequate blood supply often meant the difference between life and death. To meet that need, several leading organizations came together to found the Minneapolis War Memorial Blood Bank and in 1948 began welcoming labor unions, lodges, and business groups to donate through organized blood clubs.

The plasma donation itself only takes 30 to 40 minutes but you will be waiting at least an hour to…read moredonate, even if you aren't a new donor anymore. I would say give yourself 2 hours minimum. The staff was nice when I went there.
