I have been to multiple weddings here and the venue is elegant and classic. My fiance and I decided to choose this for our wedding venue and they have been so communicative and friendly with all of the wedding planning. This is a charming, classic venue! We were so happy we chose to have the wedding dinner and reception here. It feels so secluded and exclusive. I loved that there was indoor and outdoor space. My review and experience with the Memorial House was as a guest at a wedding. So if you're considering this venue, you may be interested in the perspective of a guest. First of all, the parking is very limited. We could not find street parking anywhere nearby, so we had to go down the hill into a neighborhood and hike back up. It's a beautiful walk, however, so that made it more pleasant. The walk back down the hill in the dark, after the wedding, was a little uncomfortable. The venue itself is very intimate-best for smaller groups, for sure. The acoustics were not amazing-we had a hard time hearing the ceremony or the toasts-not sure if it was the mic or the sound system, but we had to strain to hear. After the ceremony, the guests had to go outside while they flipped the room for dinner. We felt like we were in the way and weren't sure where to go. When dinner was ready (which we figured by watching other people), it was congested. The lines of people waiting for the buffet, again, were in the way of the serving staff. Had it been a plated meal, we could have avoided some of that congestion. The venue is very pretty-it has a quaint, farmhouse feel to it and is anything but pretentious. The outdoor area is stunning and makes for great photography. read more

Memorial House was the perfect setting for our wedding and reception! It's located in beautiful Memory Grove which is this beautiful little canyon only blocks from downtown SLC. Everything surrounding Memorial House is relaxing and beautiful. The building is older with a fun history which adds to it's charm and personality. There was also They also have plenty of designated parking for our guests. The staff was extremely helpful, friendly and made is feel like our wedding was their top priority. The Gifted Music School held its Fall Showcase at the Memorial House, and we couldn't have had a better experience. The venue is gorgeous, and Rachel and her team took care of everything from coordinating layout, catering, and decor, to ensuring we had the correct sound system for our students. If I could give less than 1 star I would. I would never recommend this venue to anyone! Beware! Over this weekend we hosted our wedding at Memorial House. We loved the vibe and were so excited about working with Lindsi to host our event. We have had the venue booked since 2021. More than a year of planning and time went into this event. When I arrived at the venue it was a disaster. The air conditioning was not working. We overheard that the air conditioning went out 10-12 days before our event took place and no one notified us. As a result it reached nearly 90 degrees inside the venue. In addition none of the venue's equipment was set up like it was supposed to be. The bride, her family, and bridesmaids had to set up the tables etc., As a result of the heat, many of the guests did not want to stay at the wedding. When we asked about the air conditioning it was met with curse words and insults. Our guests were starting to suffer heat stroke and had to be given ice packs. Please feel free to contact me if you would like to hear about Memorial House in more detail. I have contacted the director of Preservation Utah and am hoping that they will at least give us some money back since it was a total waste. I trusted Lindsi personally with my wedding. I thought we had a great relationship and she totally did not come through. I feel so disappointed in Lindsi and Memorial House. Seriously cannot stress how poorly our wedding was managed. Over this past weekend, I was the maid of honor in my friends wedding. First when we arrived at Memorial House, nothing was set up, and furniture that was in the room were items that should've been removed. The bridal party, including the bride, were forced to set things up that should've already been completed. Then I noticed how hot the venue was. We immediately looked to the employees for help and were told it was going to take a while for it to kick on but fans could be used at first. When we turned on the fans, the lights flickered and we realized we couldn't add anymore because the power go out. Fast forward a little and the A/C was still not on and we overheard the employees talking about how it had been broken for nearly 2 weeks!!! We were not told or made aware of this. When confronted again by the father of the bride and grandfather of the bride about the A/C issues, one of the employees told them "they could pack their sh!t and get the f*** out". I'm appalled that they would even think that was okay to say to people renting the venue and paying a lot for it. Furthermore, because of the heat the catering company didn't want to serve the food and wanted to leave because they believed it to be unsafe. Luckily we were able to get them to stay. Unfortunately due the poor attitude and complete rudeness of another employee, one of the wedding coordinators left. Memorial House needs to rectify this. Definitely would never host another event there. Definitely stay away!!! read more

Held my husbands retirement party on the last Saturday of March 2022. The grounds were just beginning to turn green, it was beautiful. The staff turned on the huge fireplace for a bit of ambience, it was wonderful. There are a few place where the place needs a little love...to doors going out to the patio desperately need paint. The hallway as you walk into the great room is clutter with coat racks, takes away from the entrance. The staff was quick to respond and very helpful. The parking is nice, right out front and there was plenty for our party. All in all...a strong absolutely. read more

Memorial House hosted our Corporate Christmas Party this year and it was beautiful. This was my first event that I had done for my company, so renting a venue like this was new to me. They had the place 'decked-out' with beautiful and classy holiday decor. Lindsi, our coordinator was a great help and walked me through the process so nothing fell through the cracks. I LOVED having my reception at the Memorial House. Katie was really responsive and explained everything so well. She helped with mapping out the setup and was easy to work with. Had my wedding and reception here in May. There are lots of decorating rules to work around because its a historic site, but its totally doable. the building was beautiful and Carolynn was great to work with beforehand. The only complaint we had was the attendant on duty during our reception. I had worked out all the scheduling details over a month beforehand with Carolynn, like what time to take down tables, when to dim the lights, when we were cutting cake etc., but the attendant on duty somehow didnt know about any of it and had to come ask me for all of that information in the middle of my reception, and only after I sent someone to ask if the tables were going to be taken down after the agreed-upon time. Other than that, everything was set up correctly and on time, looked great, and Carolynn went out of her way to accommodate our schedules. Beautiful venue, I enjoyed my wedding! I would recommend being wary of the hosts and management. We had agreed upon certain timelines for setup and access to the building. Our initial host had all of our wedding details ironed out and she left before our wedding. The manager filled in and was out of the office the days leading up to and during our wedding. We weren't able to set up or access the building as we had planned and anticipated. We scrambled the day of the wedding. We stayed behind 2 hours past our wedding to clean up and put away tables, chairs, linens, on top of the cleaning which was A LOT. We were still charged $200 from our security deposit. Apparently, the hosts felt they did extra. I am still confused what they felt they did above and beyond their roles that equaled $200 as my family and I helped them by putting away tables, chairs, and linens. I didn't appreciate the lack of honesty on their part. Ultimately, the manager did nothing to remedy this and instead let me know she could have charged the entire deposit. Memorial House in Memory Grove ended up being the dream venue we didn't know we wanted or needed. It was perfection! It has all the charm you would want with a more vintage styled venue with the natural scenery of Memory Grove as the backdrop. Dawn was a dream to work with in getting all the details nailed down perfectly! We were filled with continual questions and requests and Dawn handled each quickly and thoroughly. The venue included a lot more for a smaller price tag than most venues and it didn't come at the expense of quality or execution. Staff was on hand the day of our wedding and made the extra touches absolutely perfect! We can't say enough about how happy we are with the way our wedding went at this amazing venue! We also want to say the staff and venue overall were amazingly inclusive and supportive of our LGBTQ+ community. Got married here in March of this year and I was very happy with everything. Gotta love the old historic charm and the fact that they allow dogs at the venue! :) The building itself is so beautiful so no need for too many decorations. Was plenty of space for my small ~75 ppl wedding but could easily fit a larger group of 150+. read more

It sounds like I had a similar experience to the person below me. This venue is BEAUTIFUL for a wedding. I got married mid May and it was so lush and green with all of the flowers in bloom, and great weather. I wanted an indoor/outdoor, unique space and as soon as I visited this venue knew it was right for us. Yes, there are rules to work around with decorating, but it's a historical building with beautiful views so you don't need much. It is spacious, has several restrooms and several doors to move between indoors and outdoors. The attendant on duty was very helpful during our walkthrough and planning, but pretty much disappeared during the wedding ceremony and reception. Luckily my photographer ensured ahead of time that I had someone else in charge to keep our schedule on track, otherwise I was given the impression I could depend on Jada for that - and that wouldn't have happened. She did help us with our walk out times but that's about it. Bottom line - the venue is beautiful and totally worth it overall, so make sure you have someone (who isn't a family member or a big part of the wedding) in charge to keep you on schedule! read more

We had a wedding reception here in May. It was so beautiful and we got lucky with perfect weather so the doors could be open to the patio. Our guests loved it and we had a great experience! One big suggestion that I would encourage is to put a map to the Memorial House in your invitation! So many of my guests (many had never been there or were from out of town) got lost because they put the address into google maps or Siri and it took them to a totally different location! If you put the actual name "Memorial House" in either of those search engines then it will take you right there. One other small problem was that when the guard is not at the gate then for some reason some people do not see the sign that tells them to push the call button. Some of our guests parked on the outside of the gate and walked in. But overall the Memorial House is a gorgeous place to have a wedding reception! read more

The Memorial House is a beautiful setting for a wedding reception! I love the old wood work and the beautiful hardwood floors, not to mention the amazing French doors- each of which we had open during our reception. I wanted a venue that was relatively a blank canvas that I could decorate and make my own, and this was it. I did all the décor elements myself, and set them up before the reception.
