I have always LOVED going to lumber stores and hardware stores, until I came to Indiana and Menard's. I dread going to Menard's, but unfortunately Lowe's is on the other side of Terre Haute. But If i have the time, i'll drive the extra miles through that town just to go to Lowe's. Good luck finding anyone in this Menards to help you. When you do find someone, it's some kid who wouldn't know a pipe wrench from a shovel. Oh, and those '11% rebates" they offer; good luck getting those. They put it on a post card for the world to see, so anyone can see them and how much money it is, and take them. I imagine plenty of postal employees have been using our rebates because we have only managed to receive ONE back out of the many we have sent in over the years. They don't even require I.D. to use them. And it's only store credit anyway. Honestly wish these stores would close down so maybe Home Depot can move in. Don't even get me started on how totally shitty Menard's treated customers during Covid. I boycotted them for two years. Considering doing it again. Just hate this freakin store. read more

Menards is my favorite home improvement stores, it to me is a super store. One of my top 5 stores that I enjoy shopping at. This location recently opened and is a nice addition to Terre Haute Staff: super super friendly...ive never had any attitude, never a person walk by me without asking if they could help me with something. And on some times they even can tell my body language, when come in and know exactly what i need on a B line to the spot to get it and go they know I'm on a mission and dont slow me down...lol Store: always clean and kept up, things are always kept in stock...havent ever noticed that (well its right there but they are out of them) situations. huge parking lot...GREAT prices..Easy to get to.. Great tool rental department with great prices. The place is run by kids who know nothing about hardware and barely have basic social skills. The kid who was helping me in hardware/plumbing just walked off when we couldn't find the part we were looking for. It turns out, the washer shelf has a "hidden" shelf behind the one with useless stuff, which is where they keep the good stuff. I eventually found it myself. When I asked to talk to the manager at the checkout, the girl said there wasn't a manager on staff tonight. WTF. This place is a joke. Better off ordering it online or better yet, search at amazon. read more

This is in regard to the South store in Terre Haute.. 2nd time I have had to return a product and damn they treat you like a criminal. The shop vac didnt work purchased the day before. Took 4 people at the service desk to try and figure out what to do. The women that they hired were to worried about chipping their fake nails or getting dust on them. They were rude!! Then even though I paid with a debt card they would only give me store credit. Just a warning for everyone else to be careful what you buy there because they have a return policy for each product that we the customer are not privy too.. read more

This was always my go to store. Friendly cashiers and staff, until I had to deal with Chase, store manager today. I had ordered a 4 x 8 wall panel based on the color of my sample and the website. It wasn't even close to what I had ordered. Chase was rude and would not help at all. Being a frustrated customer I left to go home and find the picture of color I had ordered. By the time I returned, less than 1 hour, he smugly informed me he had already put it back in stock and charged me a 88 dollar restocking fee! I would of kept it for that price and tried to paint it or something. Chase said " well you can buy it again". So unkind!!! Someone needs to teach Chase how a manager should help a customer, rather than trying to be right. So rude. I have contacted corporation and hopefully can reach a reasonable solution to this problem. I bought a weed eater and the following day assembled it and it did not work right at all because it made a bid noise when starting it and also could not get the cap off that holds the weed line in. I tried to return it and I was told that I had to have it certified for the gas to be removed. So I went to the repair center to have that done which was in Marshal Illinois and that was a good 20 miles from the store plus to top that off they were closed which means I will need to return it on Monday so that will be 20 miles there 20 miles back X 2 which is 80 miles!!!!! I understand procedure but I think if they make people that purchased a faulty product to be taken to get certified for gas to be removed by a vendor of there's it should be local and not 20 miles away in another state!!!!!! Manard's you should not do this because its just bad business, treat your patrons better than that and that tiny little sign that says this is Manard's return procedure do not make it on a little sign you should make it large so that people can read it and be more aware of what they are getting in to for buying a product that need to be certified for gas removal!!!!!!!!!!! I don't know what it is about this menards but there is always an issue. This time head cashier Lauren is running around like a mask nazi yelling at customers who have no one remotely around them who pulled their mask down just to take a quick raw dog breath... then after said customer finally reaches the checkout line nazi Mask Lauren is up there. Was buying some base that was marked 99.99 range up 119.00. Nazi Lauren then calls back for a price check . We wait with a line forming for like 10 mins. Lauren arguing that she can't go check , even though she was just chasing us around the whole store about the mask issue. No raw dogging air in her store. Not even for a second with no one around. Even after the mask mandate is up. Finally she just puts in the amount of 99.00 , she never even got a confirmation from the back cause it was 99.99 ! Thanks for making everyone wait for no reason. It was at most a three minute walk to check the price . She is definitely a chip off the old block of the manager Bill... ugh . I suggest just go to the south store , they are actually nice there and helpful. read more

It's awesome that staff wear masks but I noticed that many people were asked to wear masks and left the store. But they wanted to sell us one for 22 cents. Can't just be giving paying costumers a mask ! We were also asked to wear mask. I respect that but I also spent over ten grand in the last year at Menards. So I went to Lowe's and dropped a 1000 on items. We watched lots of people leave Menards. We also noticed most people walk around with the mask half on or not at all. We are over the masks.The Governor says no masks are okay but It's my right as well as Menards. We will return when masks are discontinued maybe! Lowe's is cool with no masks much nicer, but employees wear them. No pressure and we go there everyday and it's a sold out crowd. Better choices, better products. Customer service in the outdoor plants department was outrageous! Very bad experience with 2 young girls making snide remarks to my mother about not honoring a price that was on a sign. My mother had already been told by a manager that a price would be honored. I asked to speak to the manager and the girl said that she "already knew the answer because it went through her." My mom had been told by a manager already that they would honor the price that was listed on the sign that the girls forgot to take down. We left without any plants due to the despicable attitudes displayed by the two girls. Will never be shopping at the Terre Haute Menards again. Lowe's is MUCH better. read more

Like the store but the staff is the worst. Lazy, fat, really don,t care. Stand and watch you shop but never ask to see what you are Looking for. Actually sit and watch you search. I had not been to Menards in three years because of the terrible service in 2017. Nothing has changed. Horrible service, terrible attitudes from employees. Guess I will wait another three years to try again. The one down south seems to hire young people with a much better attitude and professionalism. I wish someone cared enough for these young kids to teach them good customer service skills. read more

Steer clear. I was lied to repeatedly. If I were you I would find somewhere else to make your purchases. I purchased some paneling from this store and when I picked them up they couldn't find the fasteners and then charged me 25% ($50.00) to return. Service is typically great and cashiers are friendly. I think the store layout could use a little rearranging . When looking at counter tops to match bathroom vanities and they aren't in the same isle for comparison it takes a lot of back and forth trying to match when you can't carry a coutnertop back and forth or the vanity back and forth. Other than that the store is usually clean and helpful if you need help. read more

I have found the store to be clean and having a nice selection of products. I would recommend however never to buy a shed kit from the company. The word kit implies everything is put together for you, NOT. After traipsing around in the the lumber yard and store collecting all the parts and pieces myself for over two hours with very little help I was totally annoyed and would never ever recommend that for anyone else. When I expressed my frustration over the issue being so difficult, the manager was very rude to me. Next shed will come from Home Depot or Lowe's. read more

STAY AWAY FROM THIS STORE AMD THEIR. EXCEPTIONALLY UNFRIENDLY UNCARING MANAGEMENT! Complained because they talked us into ordering something and " we'll ship it to your house and just return it if they aren't sturdy enough" they didn't explain they charge 25% restocking fee on anything they order for you, even though we had the receipt. And BILL the general manager said "it's In The contract (order)! You mean you signed the contract without reading it?! Too bad that's the details of the contract. Oh and since my wife's dad who lives with us broke his hip and injured his knee and then died, we didn't have time to return it sooner so now they only will give us store credit! I'm deaf in one ear/HOH(hard of hearing in the other). I understand online shopping may be available but there are certain items you have to physically look at before buying. I wear a hearing aid, have a deaf accent and proof of our governors mandate of exemption for people like myself. The assistant manager approached me with her security guard telling me I was "accommodated" by buying online and was not allowed in their store due to the mask policy. Deaf and HOH customers.....we aren't welcome there. Shop there if you want and they claim to be better than other hardware stores but that's not the case. However, they won't accommodate by wearing face shields so you can effectively communicate either so are they accommodating? I like to see good in people and wish I could truly say she was nice about it but she was terrible and insanely rude. She tried to continue talking to me (behind me) as I was walking out so she was being disrespectful in that I couldn't understand her either. Second experience EVER with Menards and they've lost my business for good. NOT a deaf/HOH friendly business AT ALL. read more

I love Menards. some days the service absolutely sucks, and other days you can't get people to leave you alone. Every now and again, they over charge me, but its usually a great experience. I wanted to do no stars but couldn't figure out how. This location and specifically Craig the Asst Manager had a chance to do an easy right thing and they chose not to. After renting a drum sander and edger New Year's Eve morning we went to lowes in search of sand paper because we had a gift card. They didn't carry it so we went back to menards and got what we thought would work. It wouldn't. We came back again and in passing I mentioned that we'd used what was on the sander to do some of the floor. When we returned the equipment and asked that they discount the rental price which was only $60 for both items they said they had us on video saying we had 2/3 of the floor done. Which was a bit of an exaggeration. The point was we couldn't finish it. We needed more coarse and all the fine sandpaper for the drum sander and the edger was useless unless we got the drum sanding done. They knew they didn't have the supplies so the equipment shouldn't have been available for rent. One of the people we talked to even knew they were out. Our continued business wasn't worth $60 or even a part of that to make good on their error in renting a piece of equipment that was useless without the supplies they were also going to make money off of our buying from them. I now have a partially bare floor that is in danger of being ruined until I can get it finished with a sander from someplace else. Menards won't be getting my business again ever. read more

Look this place is great if you know what your already looking for, the staff here is horrible. I learn to except it for years, but the other day I reached by braking point. I went in there looking for a 13 watt CFL bulb, (pretty simple right???) there was two employees standing right there neither asked if they could help me with anything, both just dipped out as soon as they saw me looking. Then after I flagged someone down, who may I add was being a complete total @$$ like I just interrupted him for something important, told me he was going to get someone to help me look for it. Well someone came and looked, didn't say hello, good morning, not even a smile, pulled the sign for the bulbs then went back to what he was doing. I then left and went to lowes and with in 5 mins I was in and out. It would be nice if the people there at menards treated you with respect but apparently that's asking to much. read more
