Stay away. Very rude and condescending. I was never treated poorly in a doctor's office and this was just an insane experience. Apart from his interpersonal skills, I didn't receive an appropriate treatment for my condition. read more

Unfortunately I got sick. I heard about Dr Thierry Hertoghe in Brussels for Thyroid treatments…read more I saw him back in the days where Dr Hertoghe charges 250-300 Euros. He gave me a long survey to fill before the appointment, and I had a blood test. He was a doctor then. Now, I am highly disappointed with Hertoghe, he lost his conscience for doctoring. All he cares about is making money inflating his fees from €250 to € 3600 Three Thousand & Six Hundred Euros. That is for an hour and half. And worse instead of medical advice and treatments. Hertoghe wasted the session talking about his spirituality. Now the doctor claimed to practise some kind of psychic spirituality in his consultation. Instead of medical treatments, he lectured me with his spiritual ideas. I didn't go for it, and in fact I showed no interest and tried to move the doctor to my medical situation. I wanted him to analyse the blood test results and read the survey form I filled before the appointment. It seems Hertoghe is a partner with Lims Lab. When he sees a failed test or wrong measurement, he says just forget it and move on, the consultation is over. This really seems to be very complicity apparently under the table commissions being earned and probably illegal. And immoral for not revealing it to patients. This appointment cost me €3,600, doctor Hertoghe wasted alot of time speaking about himself and about some kind of psychic spirituality, it is not on my agenda, I was very disappointed and upset. Further Hertoghe gives many medications and formulations that can be purchased only from his several pharmacies in Brussels. Hertoghe makes commision from those specific pharmacies like Flagey Pharmacie and Servais d'Orange pharmacie and that is where most of his patient's business goes, again under the table commissions. Within the appointment doctor Hertoghe made mistakes prescribing me a few contradicting medications. Over prescribing a medication has caused me much trouble with my body. For example, he prescribed me "8 mg of Medrol and Hydrocortisone 40 mg taken together. I have been to other doctors in my hometown and they confirmed the overdose of those contradicting medications Hertoghe prescribed to me has in fact caused me very painful symptoms and inflammation, That is apart from affecting my eyesight. I have medical reports showing that. I contacted doctor Hertoghe about the problems and even sent my medical reports to him. He did not bother to answer me in return. I went in person again to solve this problem, all he said, I made a mistake to combine such a high dose, and I don't know how to solve the inflammation. When a doctor wants to sell his medications so much, but then doesn't want to answer a patient who had severe complications and injury from his over prescribing, this can become a dangerous situation for the unknowing patients. Why didn't the doctor respond? Did he expect another fee for a reply? Is that how he works? Now I can see this doctor Hertoghe has failed in his practice and moral. He is confused with being a psychic. When I look on this website, I see that he goes on seminars in various countries and he is selling his wares and books very much. Something seems wrong here with him as a doctor. He is a sales person. I don't know if Brussels has a medical government to look into this doctor's practices. His work, his charges and medicine prescription should be supervised.

I had been suffering from many strange things for quite some time. They take you seriously and don't tell you it's all in your head. Dr. Hertoghe has written numerous books about hormones as well. They are private doctors though so get ready for the price! This review was written in 2009.

Horrible experience. Cannot even call it a consultation because I was not allowed to ask any…read morequestions. Just measurements, diagnosis, medicine given with 0 reasons, comments or chances to dare to ask anything. (I asked if you can get astigmatism later in life and the doctor asked me what I studied in school, after which she requested me to stick to what I know... Of course no reply). Many other mocking remarks were made (like how my low tolerance to pain shows I don't have any children... Remark made when I said the eye drops she used on me hurt...). Worst doctor I ever encountered, with a highly unprofessional attitude. Unless you want to be insulted and do not need to ask anything, I'd recommend an optician (and it's nowhere near as expensive).

And searching for a doctor in a foreign country (which is my second home now) when you do not know the medical system, is a tough thing to do. Luckily, my colleague suggested I visit Dr. DeCock, who speaks perfectly English and his office is opened every day from 17:00 to 20:30, which is very convenient. I didn't have to wait long in the waiting room, the doctor greeted me, shook my hand (unimportant detail, I know, but well, that has never happened to me) and suggested a mild treatment before we resort to antibiotics. He informed me thoroughly on how my situation looks and what is the probable development. He gave me all the certificates I needed, understood very quickly that I do not take part in any national health insurance scheme (EU employees bla bla bla...) and I was gone back to bed in 10 minutes. A very welcome help in an uneasy situation.
