SOLID 5 STARS! My 91 year old mom fell 2X in 2 days a few weeks ago. The paramedics that arrived when she pressed her life alert button took her to the hospital for tests, where they discovered she had Shingles. After she was released from the hospital my siblings and I arranged for her to get rehab at Menorah Life. We had heard good things about this facility. They took good care of Mom. Shingles meant private room and every nurse, caregiver, etc. had to don fresh sterile scrubs whenever they entered the room. My only complaint is that they somehow categorized Mom as having dentures, and it took several days to straighten them out so she could be served real food instead of mush. Mom is the world's worst patient. She complains about everything CONSTANTLY. After 2 weeks, they released her. Not because she had completed rehab and done her exercises to be stronger on her feet, but because she refuses to exercise and there was nothing they can do for a recalcitrant patient. I give full marks for the staff. It takes a special kind of person to stay cheerful and helpful when you get nothing back but complaints and abuse. Highly recommended! read more

My family and I are so thankful for the care my dad received at Menorah Life. From the moment he was admitted, the whole team made us feel like he wasn't just another patient , he was family. Every nurse, CNA, therapist, and staff member treated him with real kindness, patience, and respect, and you could tell they genuinely cared about his progress. The communication was amazing too. Doing research on a number of facilities in the general area one would think they are all bad. I get it, chances are the reviewer is a family member or the one who was there and had a stressful situation which is indicative of the very reason one is utilizing the facility. I do temper these reviews a bit because of that and also made a number of in-person visits to see facilities for my Mom. With this approach, one would see that MM is one of the better options available in the area. Especially when it comes to the potential for Medicaid as the private prices are about the average for similar facilities. My Mom utilized this facility twice. Once for short-term rehab about eight years ago and just recently in the long-term care portion. I can say that MM was at the top of her list for the recent stay due to liking her first stay. That says something. I always found the facility bright, clean, and orderly. The management staff is thorough, smart, compassionate, and on top of things. The care staff is 80% good, which is to me good considering how incredibly hard their job is day-to-day and the current dearth of job seekers in this field. While on average better than average, there are some care staff that are exceptional. I can't speak for everyone, but for the most part, you get what you give out, and sometimes feel they have poor service everywhere while not realizing they are the constant variable. Sure, there are those care staff or aides who are just phoning it in but here they are the exception and not the rule. Overall, I felt comfortable with my Mom's stay here for those times I couldn't be around to oversee things, etc. Is it perfect? No...but they do a damn good job in what is a very difficult situation. The ONE thing I cold harp on...the daily food. While that job too is hard (and expensive) meals are not often what you ordered or are pretty basic. Three months there and asking for wheat bread everyday and getting it three times is not a good track record. These little things can improve one's day so it would be nice to see a better approach to this aspect. Again, if you tired of all the online research yielding just as many question marks as before, try visiting them for a tour. Afterwards, I think MM may be much higher on your list. read more

The communication level there among upper level and management including the hr department is like that of a ghost, just not there, which I believe to be the epitome of unprofessionalism, and it says a lot about the company in question. The energy was depressing, and the interior of the place was so outdated, and the furniture was filthy. The staff seem like they're under a tremendous amount of pressure and stress, with some having 2, 3, and 4 job titles/responsibilities. The CEO seems very nonchalant, like not a care in the world. If I didn't know any better, I would only assume his role there is very hands off, and he delegates a lot of his work to others while he does nothing. read more

I had the please of working with this company as a temporary nurse throughout the years. The staff are welcoming and helpful, always greet me with a smile. Whenever I needed assistance with anything another nurse or the supervisor would come to me and walk me through the process. The residents are well kept and there are activities throughout the day that they all seem to enjoy. My experience overall has been great. read more

If you care about the safety of your family member, do not leave them at Menorah Manor. Staff is rude and uncaring. Administration is overextended and only responds to emergencies. Warning: Menorah Manor is a no restraint facility, which can be a good thing, but here it is used to minimize care and safety. We asked for a second pillow and were refused it because they considered it a restraint. Staff is inadequately trained and the weekend staff is the least trained. read more

AVOID THIS PLACE!! We needed a facility for my Mom after her Radiation treatment and surgery. Unable to care for her properly at home, we opted for Menorah Manor. HUGE Mistake! It was Labor Day Weekend. She arrived around dinner time on Friday, put at the very end of the hall in the furthest room from the nurses station. PT came in and said "she was not to be moved"...again, big mistake. Her surgeon had given the exact opposite instructions, get her up! There was not a single Dr there that weekend with all of these sick/terminal people, and the nurses, well let's just say they SUCKED too. They let our mother lay in that bed in excruciating pain for several hours, and the only person that EVER checked on her was a patient care technician. They kept insisting she needed to go to the bathroom. She was not given her seizure medication on time, and at no point had anyone suggested maybe going to the ER. They had just released her from Moffit, so we didn't know what to make of all of this. We leaned on the "professionals" to guide us. Our mistake. We finally called 911 on Saturday around 8 p.m. based on her pain. The tech tried to get her out of bed to the bathroom, she collapsed in her arms, went into a full blown seizure and started to turn blue. Paramedics showed up, very casually, put her on a gurney and off to St Anthony's we went. My mother coded in the ambulance before they even left the facility, but the time they showed up at St Anthony's they were breathing for her. After a very long attempt, she was placed on life support & passed 2 days later. read more

If you have had any experience with other nursing facilities in Pinellas County, I'm sure that you would agree that Menorah is one of the best, if not the best, facility to go to for rehabilitation . The rehab staff is excellent. The nursing services are cutting edge. The building is beautiful, clean, and smells wonderful. Any concerns were addressed quickly. My experience was that the nursing staff and their supervision was disorganized and staff was not very caring. The rooms were clean, but that is not of major significance when I found that there was inadequate nursing care of elderly patients. read more
