To be…read morehonest, I really wasn't looking forward to this visit because last year, it was such a huge confusing process, especially since it was new patient visit. Check in process has improved but not sure if it's because we are returning patient visit. You go to the front desk, check in at a computer and take a pager with you. Then they page you to a desk and do all the paper work there. After that, you sit down and wait to be called in to exam. They check vitals and then you proceed to exam room. Then you go from exam to xrays, then back to exam room for consult. We did not have to wait long after checking in or waiting in exam room to be seen, or wait long for X-rays, everything was pretty quick today so I was very happy about that. Shriners I believe requires a referral to be seen. Parents need to be on top of scheduling Shriners appointments and not procrastinate with scheduling these visits, you schedule these appointments well out in advance. It is important for families to ensure they come here on time because there are families who travel a lot further away to be seen. Depending the date of the visit, if there's a holiday, like Valentines, Shriners had a ton of toys and goodie bags to give to children from generous donors. I wasn't expecting this since we are outpatient visit. My kids were very happy with the goodies they got. Last time we were there, there were tons of free snacks at the lobby. It is a very kid friendly environment and the staff truly seem to enjoy working with children. They expect good commitment from volunteers too. I remember visiting Shriners years ago as a kid with my parents to make a visit to another family whose daughter flew in from Argentina to get orthopedic surgery at Shriners SLC. This family didn't really know anyone in Utah so through some networking, my parents (also from Arg) found out and we went to go visit them. We discovered they didn't have to pay for her surgery and stay. Children are taken care of here. Definitely consider making a donation to Shriners.

I was seen by therapists and an in-house doctor and guided by selfless volunteer helpers as well as my peers. I stayed mostly sober for a couple years after Journey then had a major life change and went back out for a couple more years, then I found myself back on the path of sobriety. If it wasn't for Journey there's no way I would have decided to keep heading towards a sober and peaceful life. Today I can proudly say I am 11 months sober and looking forward to my first full year sober. (I've basically sober for a few years - with a few slips here and there). But this is my longest consecutive stint. Journey catapulted me down this path of sobriety, it was upon entering Journey that I first made the decision that I was going to do this thing for real. I may not have gotten it right away but all the tools I learned during my stay are what I used to get me to where I am today and I remember the staff like family. The rooms are so beautiful, the beds are elegant and so comfy with high quality amenities and the food is excellent. The grounds were magical. I loved everything about my stay. I met my best friend for life at Journey. After our time there we kept in contact, we started dating then took a couple years apart to work on our own paths... and one day he got me back, we dated for a bit longer then he brought me to the back of journey - where we first met in the summer of 2013, it was now all covered in snow, I didn't recognize it at all, it was the day after thanksgiving 2020... He surprised me in the middle of winter, it was closed down at this time, once I took off the blindfold and recognized where he had brought me he proposed, in the exactl places we were when our eyes first met and now we are happily walking the path of sobriety as a married couple!!! I did find it very disturbing that one of the male line staff was dating a female patient (and did not do a good job at hiding his jealousy anytime she was shown any attention). It does make me very curious if there is anything else unethical going on that isn't so obvious.

His health is average for his age but is declining. Solstice Hospice is a locally owned company who is not centered around only making Big Bucks like most of the other institutional companies. I have been in Retail my entire life and I have n e v e r had such incredible service from the staff that takes care of my Dad. Everyone is extremely knowledgeable and kind. We have a team who cares for Dad: We have CNA Care from a remarkable fellow named Vlad who helps Dad shower 2-3 days a week; A wonderful Social Worker, Tammy; Debbie, an RN of 40 years who knows more than most Doctors I know and her demeanor is stellar (& is so funny!); A non-denominational Chaplin who helps with the big unknowns; Get this, A Music Therapist! Dad has played Saxophone, Clarinet and Piano all his life. She plays the guitar and sings with perfect pitch all the old songs Dad & Mom used to dance to. And last but not least. An amazing woman who is a Foot Zone Therapist! She is a professional therapeutic foot zone practitioner who has been doing this for 18 years. You have, have, have to see it to believe it! Or should I say feel it. She helps Dad so much on an uplifting emotional, spiritual and physical level. Dad always asks, "Is this the day that my feet get Zoned?" He loves everyone who helps him as do I. If you are scouting for a genuine caring, sincere, and ethically run Hospice Company please give these wonderful people a call.
