I had an appointment for an intake to be matched with a therapist. The woman (who I believe runs…read morethe company) answered the zoom call in a tank top, with one strap falling down, clearly in some kind of bed. She started off by complaining about my insurance. She then asked me my issues and when I told her I did not want medications she tried pushing them on me. She told me I could be matched with a therapist my age, and when I sounded unsure she told me her older therapists did not have enthusiasm and were drained. NOT a smart thing to tell a potential client. She also was looking at a call she got during the meeting, and talking to me about it. I canceled the upcoming appointment I had right away. I am shocked at the level of unprofessionalism.

I was able to get an intake consult scheduled and now I go regularly and see Denise. She is AWESOME! So friendly, personable and makes the atmosphere relaxing. The office itself has a very zen vibe too which I enjoy. The psychiatrist Dr. Schwartz, they work with is also great, and super super nice! Cannot say more good things about this group and I have already recommended it to many friends and family who are looking. They seem to also do massage, acupuncture and holistic approaches too which is great for varying patients.

I did find a PAYING job and Dr. Mekles is very supportive and shows real interest. With Dr. Mekles - I'm able to taper my benzodiazepine slowly - with lots of support from the doctor. He's very patient and is very understanding and knowledgeable about withdrawal symptoms. He didn't push me - but prodded me to do this vital step The secretary is very helpful. She answers text messages immediately - to assist with medication renewal requests and appointment changes - when needed. Very professional indeed Medication management is the best I've ever had and he tries his best to keep my med count to a minimal level. I highly recommend Dr. Mekles - and thank you very much.

My experience with Dr. Brian Pell deserves to be publicly documented so others know exactly what…read morethey are walking into. I booked an appointment specifically for an ADHD assessment, clearly stated as such. That was the entire purpose of the visit. Yet, during the call, Dr. Pell casually informed me that they are not conducting ADHD assessments at this time and may resume, possibly in January or February of next year. This immediately raised a red flag: if you are not offering the service, why accept an appointment for it? Why bill insurance for something you never intended to provide? The entire interaction lasted 18 minutes, and not a single part of it resembled an evaluation. Instead, we spent the bulk of the time discussing my career. He asked about my former psychiatrist's nationality; he seemed very interested in why he didn't take insurance "as a Black doctor" (which I perceive as a common conflation between race and poverty). He then asked only two quick, surface-level questions about why I was seeking an ADHD assessment. Then in the same breath that he told me they are not doing assessments, he also told me that I probably do not have ADHD. He said this despite the fact that I was coming to him for a second opinion after already completing a comprehensive, legitimate ADHD evaluation with a diagnosis from an actual specialist. (I did not share I was coming in for a second opinion, as I didn't want it to be biased). He provided no testing, no structured questions, no clinical methodology, nothing that even remotely resembled evidence-based practice. The whole thing felt dismissive, and frankly, like a complete waste of my time. I left the appointment feeling misled and deeply uncomfortable, as insurance had been billed for a service that was never delivered. If you are seeking serious mental health care, diagnostic clarity, or responsible clinical practice, I strongly recommend looking elsewhere. This experience felt unhelpful and entirely out of alignment with what any patient should expect from a licensed provider.

Step 1: Calling the office to schedule (during normal business hours) - 9 times out of 10 you get their after hours answering service who fob you off with flimsy excuses (AM excuse, good through to lunch time: Oh, I guess they are a "little" late turning their phones on; PM excuse, good any time after noon until closing: Oh, I guess they are a "little" late coming back from lunch) - When you finally get through to someone at the office you are told that they need to do an "intake interview" and that someone will call you back at X time to do it - Next day...call back as no one called to do the "intake interview"; cross-fingers and hope today is your lucky "non-answering service" day - Repeat the phone and intake interview run-around Step 2: The intake interview - Finally conduct the "intake interview" (while people argue about you in the background, all of which you can hear) - Get told: "the director needs to review your file, we will get back to you in 1.5 - 2 weeks with an appointment" Step 3: Waiting...still no appointment - After 2.5 weeks no one has called with an appointment - Repeat phone run-around to talk to someone for an update - Finally get through to be told, "oh, are you sure you spoke to someone we can't find your intake interview" - Get put on hold while they "search for your record" - Get hung up on - Repeat phone run-around - Get told it will be ANOTHER 1.5 - 2 weeks before the director reviews and gets back to you Step 4: Find somewhere new to go!!!!!!
