Alhóndiga Reforma is not located in the "Colonia" Reforma but in downtown (just behind the Santo Domingo/ Botanic gardens) on the street Reforma, a great location! This food market has loads of different little restaurants and shops. From outside it looks small but when you go in it is a big great designed space with the restaurants and shops on the ground floor and above them tables and chairs. It is a great place to start for a night out with a group of friends. I also went here to watch the Euro Cup final while enjoying a beer and a snack. There are several little restaurants such as the typical Oaxqueñan restaurant "Nanixhe" where you can buy food from the Istmo area of the state of Oaxaca like garnachas, small fried tortillas with different types of meat or vegetables on top. I also really like the: torta de cocinita, a bun with delicious meat form the restaurant "Cochiztli" with french fries form "Ohlala brasserie" which is run by a friendly French guy. The hamburgers and chicken wings of "Flor de Cempasúchil" are really tasty as well. To drink I really like local artisan beer or a cocktail from "Agua de Calzón". For a dessert you can choose between a ice cream from "La Crema & Nata" or a delicious piece of cake from "Sweet Hands". There is also a seafood restaurant, which I will try the next time I go, a mezcal shop and a florist. They have a lot of events such as mezcal tasting, artisan beers and now they have live Jazz every Thursday. And if you come by car I just saw that the first hour is free parking.

Great Oxacan beer, cocktails and delicious food. Very convenient if you are staying in Reforma. Staff is very friendly asked for Hector and Alejandro

It's especially known for its Smoke Alley where you walk through a smoke-filled hallway of vendors cooking meat on grills. Throughout this market you'll find a lot of workers at the different stalls trying to get you to eat at their stall. It can be overwhelming when you might just want to look around. It's really just a chaotic time and a part of you just wants to avoid the people glaring and yelling at you, especially if you're a tourist. It's crowded and hectic but it's part of the unique experience. If you're visiting Oaxaca you will most likely visit this market and the adjacent Mercado Benito Juarez. I'd go in the morning to avoid the crowds to really enjoy your time, but the aroma of the meat might entice you to sit down for a meal.

Another amazing Oaxacan experience and a MUST DO when in Oaxaca…read more We came here like 5 times during our stay in Oaxaca lol you can literally spend hours here eating, shopping and talking to the locals. You can find authentic Oaxacan mole, cheese, chocolates and liquor as well as clothes This historical market is also known for being one of the most captivating places for those who are looking for the best things to do in Oaxaca where you can find numerous local and international brands that allow you the chance to spend a great day browsing them and it's also notable to mention that this market is a food market. The Paseo de humo (smoke alley) is literally just that, an alley of vendors smoking all sorts of different meats inside and people trying to get you to sit down and eat Glad we got to see and experience it all
