We shared and enjoyed a Mixed salad. The star of the show was the Galacian Octopus. The Octupus was smoked and seasoned with Paprika placed over a bed of Confit potatoes. A local dish that was exquisite. We shared it and didn't want it to end. A must try and I'm craving it as I write this review! Service was upbeat and attentive. One of our servers took some time to tell us about the Octopus dish which was much appreciated. Amazing view with open air seating and don't miss the Galacian Octopus!

The first supermarket from Hotel Port Mahon to downtown Mahon proper, this was a very nice find to…read morestock up for the day while visiting the city, on the way out to visit the island, or returning back. Small as supermarkets go, it's very well stocked. Drinks, meals to go, or make your own picnic basket. The meats section has a fabulous selection of deli meats and cheeses (Jamon Serrano and Queso Fresco de Maó), which goes well with their selection of breads (a must try is their wheat, full or mini, baguettes, which are good enough to eat by themselves). Everything food/sundries wise is available for whatever choice on your vacation day, good prices, and a nice location from the hotel. Prices are reasonable, even with the current Euro/Dollar exchange ratio. Caveat: Good location if you are staying at Hotel Port Mahon, Hostal La Isla, or Hotel Jume. A little bit off to the northwest side of the city to visit for groceries. Best choice still is the city centered Mercado del Claustro market

Extremely small in size (intimate), it makes it out on patio real state. Very open atmosphere. Food: great selection of tapas served all day long, along with small meals of bocatas (sandwiches/Croque-monsieur), with the Jamon Serrano being excellent. The bar open early for a quick desayuno (breakfast. Caveat, European breakfast: Cafe con leche, ensaimada, light). Coffees served all day. Lunch is light too, with tapas and full bar, a nice place to take a walk rest. Evening is the best time to bring friends over and enjoy the cool, starry night. Technically a great IceCream store (with flavors you will not find elsewhere), is their horchatas (ice brisk cool milk-like beverage made out of chufas[*]) that will floor you on the spot. If too sweet (they are silky sweet), granizados (slushee like beverage) will also do the trick. All these items are made in house fresh, along with pastries and Turron. They have a coffee bar, and sell food and drink products for the Island (gin, sobrasada (a rich, savory, smooth sausage, great with baked bread and Menorqui cheeses), chocolates, ensaimadas (a traditional Balearic pastry the size of a medium pizza, great with hot chocolate). All in all, a great stop-over after a long day going around the city. (*) For the Horchata connoisseur: You are drinking the original Horchata from the 1200s Spain. Anything outside European Spain is a poor imitation, as when Spain colonized LatinAmerica, they had no access to chufas, substituting them for rice. =P

There were cozy booths, a pin ball machine, reading material, and tvs. One of the nights we wandered in, there was quite a crowd to watch a soccer game so it seems like a pretty popular local hangout spot. We didn't order any food, but the offerings looked tasty and seemed to be kind of typical small plate kind of fare. Beautiful view of the lamp statue in the middle of the street.
