Right smack in the foodie corner of Bologna where all tourists must visit, is this little food-hall type of market, offering a variety of restaurants and booths offering many delicacies. Seafood, pizza, pasta, sandwiches, burgers... as well as drinks and desserts. There is a common area of tables and chairs, plus a few restaurants with their own seats. It's crazy busy during dining hours, so go at off hours if you can to avoid the crowd. Many of the shops have bilingual menus or visual displays of their dishes, plus a staff with good command of English, so ordering shouldn't be difficult. We ate at one of the restaurants called Sorelle Ribelli, and tried a pasta dish gramigna (a local specialty), and it was excellent. Wish we had more time to explore the market better and tried more food, but as it was only a day trip for us we had to move on to sightseeing. If we ever make it back to Bologna, we'd love to stop by again. read more

Really popping place. Tons of options downstairs for food and drink, almost a little too crowded as it gets a bit stuffy. We opted to sit upstairs, which was much quieter and therefore a better option for a glass of wine. This is hands down the best place to browse, shop, eat and drink in the center of Bologna. The narrow streets lined with shops, eateries, wine bars and delis like Simoni's is like a Disney world gastronomical Mecca. Come for Aperitivo and then stay for Dinner, pure heaven. Get the pizza! My group ordered 3 pizza's, and all were delicious. I ordered the tagliatelle, was disappointed because it lacked seasoning. I also ordered mushroom and aubergine. The dish itself was delish, slight letdown because I kept digging for mushroom but alas found none. Customer service is great! read more

Lots of cheap, delicious food. They also have a few bars that serve alcoholic drinks like cocktails and beers. There's plenty of seating, especially on the second floor and there are bathrooms on the basement level. Since the staff were mostly college-age students, it was easy to communicate in English and pay using credit card. Got a bunch of arancino and crocche - super delicious and filling. There are also freshly made pastas, but we didn't try those. I also really enjoyed the seafood vendor - they had a bunch of great side dishes, like a stuffed zucchini, calamari, and another squid dish. There were these fresh, raw shrimp that were so creamy and reminded me of Omakase-level quality. I still think about them to this day. This is located in a convenient part of town, with lots of other food options nearby. There's also a huge Eataly right across the street if you want more of a sit-down meal. read more

Small yet bustling food hall in the heart of Bologna. Came here like a good foodie should and wasn't disappointed. There are a handful of food stands serving everything from pizza to coffee to sandwiches to pasta. The pasta stand is where the crowd was gathered so that's where I went too. (The pasta was fantastic once I was able to order -- Italians don't understand the concept of waiting your turn)! The market was sheer madness but nearly everyone there was a local -- always a good sign. Seating is virtually nonexistent, but check outside for a few hidden tables. It's also open until midnight which is one of the greatest things ever. Don't miss the artisanal beer pub in the basement! read more

On a quest for the best pasta Bolognese in Bologna... this is worth the stop. Am awesome little "food court" Mercato with a mouth watering selection of everything Italian at great prices. With seating inside, outside and upstairs you can have whatever experience you would like. An Eataly of sorts. It has some good vendors and some okay vendors. The hamburgers at Romanzo were surprisingly high end and fresh. The pizza bread at one of the vendors was meh here as they didn't really warm it up enough to get the cheese to the texture you want. Worth checking out overall. read more

Awesome food court in central Bologna with vendors that are on par with some of the best restaurants I have ever been to. My boyfriend went to the pasta counter for tortellini Bolognese ... Rich, succulent sauce with dainty little tortellini. Molto Bene. I opted for Romanzo - saw a guy at the counter eating the special: duck over lentils with black truffles, of course accompanied by a glass of wine, and I was sold. The duck was cooked perfectly, but the stars of the dish were the lentils - warm and delicate little pockets of deliciousness that popped in my mouth. The food court is located on the second floor. There are a few options on the first floor filled with markets. But beware of the place on the first floor with the fresh pasta. The pasta is fine but the sauces were pretty bad. The second floor is a pretty expansive food court with a ton of options. The food is good but around meal times it will get busy. Also, they do have a visitor table on the second floor but some stairs. There you can charge your phone in a little locker. I was wary about a free service but I guess it's part of a real tourist center. I'll try to post pictures later. You can lock the locker but I sat nearby to keep an eye on my phone. ...back to the food. Lot of options and they have some amazing desserts. Lastly, don't pay to use the bathroom on the first floor, it's free on the second floor. read more

I will always love the concepts of high end, casual food courts - I was really excited to try this here. They have about 10 vendors. You can totally have a fun, inexpensive, varied, drawn out experience here. There is a meat guy, pasta lady, wine person, fish stall, beer dude, and a bunch more. Super fun. I am still not sure if this belongs to Eataly or not. If it was, it'd sully it a bit, but whatever. read more

Very cool market that me and my wife tried while visiting Bologna. We had been to Mercato Centrale in Florence that was an awesome experience so we tried this one out for lunch. It was a much smaller scale but still had the high quality. We came at about 2 in the afternoon and got some fresh tagliatelle and ravioli with meat sauce. Both were delicious. We stayed here for a couple of hours, had a caprese salad, a dish with basmati rice, shrimp, salmon, and ham, pumpkin filled pasta with bolognese, and a fruit salad. I also had tea, cappuccino, and marocchino, and my husband had a caffe with whiskey and a two beers. Overall we spent just under 50€. There was plenty of seating upstairs and the price is very affordable, especially given how fresh everything was. The pasta is fresh, the fruits were fresh and ripe, the tomato and mozzarella were delicious. Quality ingredients. This is like an upscale food court/market with various stalls. The only downside is the bathrooms. They really need to have a few more stalls. They have just one unisex stall and one handicapped. It took forever. read more

Good place for a casual meal. The grilled calamari/shrimp skewers were tasty. And we loved the cauliflower dish. The pasta special - lasagna bolognese - had good flavor but was really really dry as if it had been sitting there a while. And you can't beat a big glass of wine for 3 euros. read more
