If you recognize this place, it's probably because you watch too much food tv like me. Definitely AB, STucci were here, plus at least a handful of others. So recognizable yet so authentically local and traditional. Get here on the early side when it's just the locals and the feel of the place. Many, many years of history to absorb hanging on its walls and in the air. So, if you don't know this place - it is a drinking establishment ONLY so you bring your own food. Snacks. That is the beauty of the place. Just walk out the door and you will have a potpourri of outstanding choices. Then sit down and enjoy with a glass of sparkling or wine or whatever you choose. A must experience in Bologna.

The oldest wine bar in Bologna, opened in the 15th century. It's been made famous by being featured on food and travel shows. Nothing new to add beyond what other Yelpers have already mentioned-- bring your own food, buy their wine, try to find a table. We visited with a food tour and tried one of their white wines which was refreshing and affordable. The next day, we tried to return the next day in the evening to find it quite crowded-- lots of locals and toursits who've also visited on food tours.

Lovely classic Bolognese gem: great atmosphere, local folks and cheap but good wines!

We went to so many "recommended authentic" places that were trash. This place is phenomenal and the food quality is impeccable! Yes, homemade pasta ... really homemade. I had something similar to a carbonara and my husband had the tortellini. Outstanding!! We are now eating all our meals there because we know that chasing good places in Bologna is a crap shoot. We waited 40 minutes to go to the "Osteria Orso" and it was absolutely horrible and a tourist cattle call. Stick with this place and give it a try if you just want to spend your calories enjoying something outstanding! The place has outside tables and the owner is there overseeing every dish and service. We are going back now for dinner and cocktails! Hope this review helps you have a great meal in Bologna! Great service, friendly and a charming ambiance! So glad we found it!

We were just asked to take a seat and it might be a while. Great. We got lucky there were parties before us that were waiting to seat 3 or 4. Within 10 minutes we were seated ahead of the larger parties. The place sits about 24 inside and almost that many outside. We looked around and almost all young Italians. A great sign. The place had energy. We looked at the food around us and we were happy. The menu is not very large which can someone very good...let's cook what we do best. Since the pasta dishes looked so good we had to have them. Tagliatelle Ragu and the Spaghetti alla Gricia with Guanciale. Both dishes were amazing. Delicious! And reasonably priced. $39 EUR for two with drinks. Highly recommend. Will definitely return on our next visit.

Located in a three-story building a stone's throw east from the main Piazza Maggiore and directly across the alley from Mercato di Mezzo (a separate moderate sized food hall), the Eataly retail space is spread over all 3 floors, with groceries mainly located on the 2nd story. The ground/1st floor is mostly books and a casual bar/cafe, where they serve simple pastries and coffee/tea in the morning and apertivo options (meaning light bites and classic cocktails) in the early evening. Upstairs on the second floor (1st floor for Europeans ;), there is a selection of olive oils, vinegars, condiments, dry goods, snacks, candies, wines and liquors, and gifting items. A smaller selection of grocery items than other Eataly locations and no fresh produce. There is a wine bar/beer garden area upstairs as well though it didn't seem to be in use during the couple times I dropped by in early April, however the still carried quite a broad wine selection considering the space. I dropped by one late afternoon and tried the fried polenta and an aperol spritz. The food was kinda unimpressive, the fried polenta felt a bit thick and heavy, the drink was ok. It took a while to wait for the food though the drink was ready fairly quickly. Overall a convenient location to pick up a food/cook book in Italian or other souvenirs.

We ordered mortadella panninis and cappuccinos. Both were good. The sandwich was simple, but filling. The cappuccinos were good. It's a nice place to take a break from walking and relax a bit. But if you're looking for a delicious authentic Italian meal, keep looking. This is more like a fancier subway sandwich shop.
