The Caledonian hotel used to be a charming and unique hotel in classical English style, high ceilings, leather couches, four-poster beds, etc. Unfortunately, a recent refurbishment has turned it into a modern design hotel, now it features plastic chandeliers, purple walls and zebra-pattern rugs, turning it into a generic business hotel, indistinguishable from any other bad-taste modern hotels anywhere else in the world, with a rude and personality-less staff to match.

The next morning breakfast had been moved from the usual dining room to the cafe next door, where a uninspired breakfast buffet was setup, once we received plates and cutlery after asking a few times it was ok though.
For the price, the room, hotel, breakfast and staff were all a huge let-down. I would avoid at all costs, for a nice upmarket hotel in Aberdeen give the new Malmaison a try. read more
