So much for the free hotel shuttle from the airport that they offer. I hope this stay is better than the experience with the shuttle. As of now, it has been eight phone calls and multiple texts that have gone unanswered. Got to the hotel, and they said the phone never rang. That's not true. I called twice while I was in the lobby and the phone rang with no problem. They tried to tell me that other people calling from the airport had the same issue in the past. If that's the case, why didn't they look into it and resolve the issue. This is part of an update - Apparently this has happened before and it is a known issue that they have not fixed. It happens for some American cell phone callers. In case you need to know, just outside of baggage claim or the city buses. Bus number 292 and 392 both stop right in front of the hotel. It is your first stop outside the airport. Are you sure the bus is going in the correct direction. The hotel is just as it appears in the pictures. It looks like a country style hotel. The inside is very nice and the room is very cozy. The property is surrounded by woods. There is a restaurant and a bar. As of today, the breakfast buffet is €27 per person. If all had gone well, with the shuttle, I would have given this place four stars.

Definitely not like the Courtyard chain in the USA. Obviously, it was another brand before being bought by Marriott, but they have largely left it it alone. In early evenings you often see local German folk come here just to dine. If you explore the hotel you'll find an amazing pool, steam rooms, and saunas deep in the lower levels, it's like a Neptune's grotto. Rooms are generally huge, especially if have platinum status. I would not recommend walking to hotel if you have a ton of heavy baggage, but easily doable with a small roller bag. They do have complimentary shuttle every half hour. Nearby jogging paths, restaurants, gas stations, etc. A good place to stay before heading out.

It's ideal for fans of the 1990s TV series Dawson's Creek, as there's a beautiful white painted wooden terrace where you can spend a summer's evening enjoying the breeze from the lake. We swam in the lake, which is pretty unspoiled, and when I got bored of that, I took a swim in the hotel's pool followed by a sauna. Next to my bedroom (number 1) there was a little private terrace facing a little stream behind the building where I was able to hide myself away totally undisturbed with my books, before taking a surprisingly sophisticated dinner on the Dawson's Creek Terrace. I returned to Berlin relaxed, blissed out and fully recharged. I'm curious to come back in winter, when I'm told the lake freezes over and the surrounding fields will be covered in snow. There's a big rambling lobby with lots of nooks and crannies, where I can imagine tucking into some books by the fire in winter, possibly while listening to Schubert's 'Winterreise' on my ipod. Despite the intimate, family run nature of the place, I got the idea that the staff are pretty worldly, this would definitely be a place where same sex or mixed race couples would feel totally at home, with or without young kids.

Getting any attention in the bar restaurant is a thing for dreams, but it doesn't happen. Getting coffee capsule refilled every day doesn't happen (even if I left a note, even after calling the front desk) -the bar restaurant: kitchen open until 21:30. I ordered at 20:40 (after waiting for attention). The soup came at 20:55. After that: silence until I said at 21:15 that I was still waiting for the other items. At 21:20 the main course and the dessert (incl. icecream !!!) show up at the same time. What would you suspect happens with icecream during consum ption of the main course? Even a child would know the answer. The only way to avoid a disaster towards my laptop was to turn the plate such that the icecream could drip on the floor! TERRIBLE AND NON-EXCUSABLE! -the food in the gourmet restaurant Lemsahler: I chose the vegetarian menu. The soup "essence of celery" had zero essence and felt like "water and bread" in a prison camp with unpleasant grit dumplings, the gnocchi lacked sophistication, but the dessert here compensated a bit. Staff attention again marginal at best. -Rooms: If they desire to attract international and modern visitors, providing adequate charging options is a must. -Room service: Let's face it: Covid is over. There is no need anymore to suggest that daily room service would not be needed. Having the room made EVERY single day should be and is considered the norm of culture and service business. Having a card in the room to suggest otherwise has only one purpose: to make me, the guest, feel guilty.

Great breakfast with very fresh breads, cheeses and meat. Only around 30 minutes taxi from Hamburg Airport. A nice, friendly place to stay. Very welcoming to lone traveller.
