Delicious too. I had some kind of breakfast sandwich and my wife had avocado toast. Big pot of tea too.  The cafe had a really cool independent vibe, cozy and chill. A good mix of tourists (like us) and townies. The place was bustling in the morning, which is a good sign. Service was very cheerful and attentive. I understand this place doubles as a bar in the evening, which is a great idea. Well worth seeking out if you are in York. Our hotel recommended it and we weren't disappointed.

I've been to Bedern Hall several times for events, the most memorable of which was a 'music in…read moresacred spaces' evening in 2007. The Hall is 14th century and is now used mainly for conferences and for events such as musicale evenings and weddings. The bathroom facilities are surprisingly nice, and the people running the Hall are very helpful! The atmosphere is incredible and the Hall is a bit off the beaten track and not in the more touristy area of the city.

Before the big day we went for a pre wedding shoot at his studio where he talked us through the day, what to expect, how things would run, and how best we should organise ourselves and the bridal party. The advice Steve gave us on that day turned out to be utterly invaluable. Never in my life have I been on time for anything, but thanks to Steve and his pep talk not only was I on time I was actually ready early which meant I could take time to relax and enjoy every aspect of the day rather than feeling flustered and rushed.We were so pleased with the way the pictures turned out, they got all the pictures we requested, knew exactly where all the best picture opportunities in the venue where and whilst doing all this, kept everybody (all 120 guests and 1 guide dog) organised, assured and calm. Everybody knew where they were meant to be and when they were meant to be there, which meant all the group shots ran smoothly and efficiently allowing us sufficient time to have plenty of shots of just us together AND a bit of time to socialise too, before the wedding breakfast.Steve and Karen were professional, organised and an integral part of our day. For a good nights sleep, at reasonable cost, you can't beat a Premier Inn. We always use them on…read moreour trips away. York North was no different. Friendly reception, free parking and free WiFi (ok a little slow but can be upgraded). Coffee/tea making facilities in the room with ample replacements at reception should you run out. Perfect. Another positive is on-site breakfast restaurant. All you can eat cooked breakfast, and it's delicious. The young lady at breakfast was a ray of sunshine to start the day off. Always smiling. Lovely stay at another perfect Premier Inn. The only slight, very slight, negative was the room being much smaller than any room we have had on previous occasions. This was made up by having a walk-in shower. As you get older it gets more difficult stepping over a bath.
