Rebecca, the lady behind the counter, she is racist. Rebecca has let everyone in the store walk around and sit in the arcade booths but when she saw me walking around the store( a black male w/ hair braided) Rebecca only targeted me and told me I needed to put money in the machine, she has done this twice in front of the other customers (how embarrassing) to me and let the other non black customers stay in the booth without putting any money in. Honestly, it was very overt she has a problem with black people, and I recommend hiring someone who is more culturally aware and treats everyone with respect and equality. Hopefully management does something about this. read more

I can't believe Mercury Books only has four reviews. This place has been here forever. I know a lot of you must shop here, are you just too shy to admit it? It's time to let your freak flag fly people. It's just sex. I was across the street picking up some ramen and saw the sign for Mercury Books and decided to drop in. It made me laugh when a guy furtively glanced at me as he hurried down the hall immediately to the right as you enter. That's the hallway to heaven, otherwise know as the private jackoff booths. I noticed a few dudes enter the store and make a beeline for the hallway while I was there. It seems to be where all the customers were because I was the only customer in the actual 'retail' part of the establishment. The lot was full when I got there too, I took the last parking spot. Fellas, this is clearly your hangout spot if you enjoy jerking it in a booth. The retail side of Mercury Books is small. They do make good use of the space though by lining the walls with merchandise and using the floor space to hold all their shelves of DVD porn. Odd that I didn't see many books here, but I confess it wasn't what I came in for anyway. The ladies working here at Mercury Books are phenomenal. You couldn't ask for better customer service. I feel like some people may be too uncomfortable going into adult stores, but you don't need to be, and with ladies like these making you feel so welcome, you shouldn't feel shy or uneasy. I'd have to say this is a great place to come if you are a single guy (or married and unsatisfied) in need of some self-lovin. This place should be called "The Nut Hut," or "The Jack Shack," because essentially that is what they are here for. They cleverly disguise themselves by having a large "Adult Books" sign above their establishment, but you're not foolin me, Mr!! I think some of the other patrons were annoyed by my bf and I having a light, upbeat and joking attitude while perusing the aisles. Sorry sir, I didn't mean to intrude on your making a "serious" selection. My bad. I'd say they easily have upwards of 100 different magazines available (I hope they require purchase and are not available to rent as I'm sure there'd be stickiness, etc eww) and at least 400 or so movies...Something for everyone, I presume. Also, as you walk in, you can't help but notice an incredibly strong odor that reaks of bleach, or possibly some other cleaning solution that is far stronger.
