Do yourself a favor - just get it done. Was my New Year resolution. (Done!) I got a call reminder days in advance and even got a text confirming! Wasn't overkill, but it did keep it fresh in my mind. Believe me I fought with canceling it as I just H.A.T.E. this part of being a woman. Needed a new doc. Found one. Highly recommend this clinic! Location is easy on/off Hwy 50 and I43 in Delavan. The front desk staff registered me efficiently and professionally. Before I could take off my coat and sit down, Denise (Nurse) called my name and proceeded me into an examination room. She took my medical history via laptop. Hello? No check boxes to fill out. Very nice. Denise was professional but down to earth. Explained what would occur (usual stuff, no surprises there...) asked me if I had any questions or concerns then left me to disrobe. So....yeah let's just skip to the Doc here. Dr. Susan Hagnell was awesome. She's just a good doctor. Informative, concise, asks questions and waits for the answer. Direct eye contact, shows good bedside manner and I know this isn't important but I thought it says a lot about her personally. She has a great style! Loved her outfit, loved her hair, she obviously cares about her appearance. I know that's not critical but it does say she has personal pride even though she must work crazy hours. I was told that if there were no complications they would offer the things in the plan, which was delayed cord clamping, skin to skin contact for the first hour, no pitocin, support for breastfeeding. One of the nurses came in just be for delivery had clearly just had a smoke and I could smell it on her... she also had her nose out of her mask (covid). After about one minute the cord was cut, and they took my baby to do whatever it is they do, measure poke etc. the doctor yanked my umbilical cord to get my placenta out and the cord snapped. I'm not being dramatic when I say o felt that in my soul. Then from the reflection in the glass above the doctor stuck their whole arm inside me to rip out my placenta. They then ordered pitocin (sp) bc I was bleeding more that they liked!? I had no complications and none of the things I asked for were provided. I'm not a mean person and don't like writing this out but if you have any hopes of having some autonomy in giving birth I would question going to Delnor. I forgot to mention that another doctor who was about to change shifts said "we need to keep an eye on that" but didn't specify what was of concern, bc... there wasn't anything, of course your gonna keep an eye on things but you don't point that out to a woman in labor. How anxiety producing. Maybe I'm a sensitive person I just really assumed there would be some effort to provide the things I had hoped for.... For weeks leading up I would speak with the Dr and ask if what I was wanting was doable. I was reassured numerous times that every effort would be made for those (evidence based) post natal supports. It still bothers me and I don't want others to have to go through what I did. Maybe it wouldn't be a big deal if I just deferd everything to hospital protocol but seeing as I asked and was comforted towards trusting them it stings, still. My daughter is 2 1/2 now and this is just some random Tues night that I happen to be looking back and feeling helpless. Was it the worst, no. Was it kinda f-&cked up, yes. I suffered from post-partum depression for almost 2 years. I really didn't want the pitocin bc of fear of emotional reactions. I've had terrible reactions to hormones in the past. I don't doubt that the pitocin given after ripping out my placenta played a role in that darkness that followd birth: I wish there was more I could do to make people aware. I wish I had gone to CDH like many people suggested but I had recently moved to Batavia and Delnor is so close.

I've been here before so that helped, but seriously, it took less than five minutes. Give these ladies a raise! The last time I came here was in 2014, and I recall that being a pretty quick deal too. I think it helps when you have competent workers who know how to use the Aurora linked computer system. If you show up on time for your appointment everything will run smoothly. Don't be late! The waiting area is extremely large for this place. Every time I've come here there has been maybe one or two others waiting, but there is seating for 40 or more. It is clean, quiet and the chairs are actually comfortable. I didn't notice a television but there were a ton of magazines to read in case your phone battery goes dead. If you don't fancy reading, you can just stare out the windows and watch traffic go by. It's not a bad view on a sunny day. All the nurses and doctors here are professional and very kind. They understand that discussing your internal anatomy can sometimes be embarrassing and difficult to talk about. You don't throw around vagina's in general everyday conversations. Unless you do, then way to go. But for the general population it's an uncomfortable topic. They get it. Don't be scared. If you can't talk about it with professional lady doctors, who can you talk about it with? I have never had anything but discreet courtesy from these women and every one has been very forthcoming with helpful advice when needed. The nurse I had today was very funny in fact, and we made each other laugh. Eases the tension. If additional blood work is needed, they do have a lab on site, which I think is cool. Saves a trip. There is no direct entry to the lot from Ryan Rd, so you have to turn in to the business park like you're going to Culver's and continue around until you meet the lot for the pavilion. There are a couple of other businesses in this building, but the Women's clinic is on the side that faces Ryan Rd. If you need to get your bits checked out, and have the choice, I'd recommend coming here.

It was neither what we asked for, nor wanted, but we were stuck and forced to take the option. We went to our appointment on day of, and they said that the alternative appointment that they gave us was also cancelled, not by us and they couldn't tell us who cancelled the appointment. Gave us an appointment 2 months down the road. Kinda defeats the purpose of time sensitive to reschedule 60 days down the road. Bad customer service, so can't comment on quality of care. Pass on this place unless you like being given a run around.

They then did not forward my request to my pharmacist and I am now out of my prescription. I told my mom (who is terrified of doctors and never goes to them) that I would call my OBGYN. So I called Advanced up, and Linda answered and put me on hold for like 2 minutes and came up with an appt on a Saturday! Literally the next day. She told me not to worry, they would help us on the billing with no insurance and get everything squared away. It was so reassuring. I literally just love Linda! Ruby and Maria are also great! So we go to the appointment, and I was literally freaking out that my mom was going to flip out on Dr. Griggs because she hates doctors. After an hour she comes out and is completely calm and we talked to Linda. Linda gave her a hug and we were off. In the car my mom said, Dr Griggs was the kindest most understanding doctor she had ever met. So, of course I was thrilled. On the billing side, Linda told us that we should talk to Pam. So at the next appointment my mom went into Dr. Griggs, and Pam took me back to her office and explained all of our options. Since the affordable care act did not apply to my mom, we have to work really hard to find other options. So Pam gave me a ton of information, and was super duper understanding and sweet. We go back again today, and I am not even stressed because I feel like we are in the best care for my mother! I highly recommend this place!
