January 23rd at Youngstown ER I was assaulted with a needle three times by Alexandra McClug's nurse. Then emasculated by nurse when she whispered I was "yipper". Blaming me for being dehydrated and involuntary twitching. Have a serious infection requiring medical treatment and left with trauma and shock. This created HPA axis damage, Glucocorticoid receptor damage and immune system damage. Today I have all the physical evidence and irreparable damage to all major organs. Breaking blood brain barrier and in my cytoplasm. Also in bone marrow. Was a worker with disability and financially independent before that day. Now unable to work for 15 months draining my father's (Vietnam vet purple heart bronze star 41 years at GM) retirement fund. If Alexandra McClug is your physician run, run, run away. HIPPA violation when revealing blood and urine screen in front of my mother. My father is the only person who has written person period! The downtown hospital is filthy, they are understaffed and rude. The staff made me feel like I was a burden and so I was hesitant to use call button for anything. They admitted me and I received medication I could have taken at home and was not even there 24 hours before they discharged me with the same meds I took there and no improvement in how I was feeling and I had pneumonia. The managers treat the employees like they are beneath them, their training is poor and I personally would not take my dog there. read more

I dont know who came up with the idea of offshoring the scheduling call center but, they need to be dragged down Main St. for a public stoning. You cant understand these people and they dont understand you. Making a simple appointment is impossible. Please look elsewhere for your care because if you try to schedule through them, you are going to need mental healthcare. Never experienced anything more frustrating in my life. Worst care I've ever seen. My wife had a stroke. A nurse told me I was to "bring her meds so they could put a bar code on them". Neurology could not do an MRI on her. After 5 days of no answers, except to say it wasn't a stroke. sent her to Cleveland. 30 minutes in Cleveland, they knew exactly what was going on. It was a rare stroke.Discharged from Cleveland to a lower level care hospital and had another stroke. Return to St E's and told again.. not a stroke but " we will do an MRI. I told them they can't do it there... wrong machine for her situation. I asked to talk to the neurologist, 5 days later I still have not talked to him. They brought her food... but no one to feed her. I have requested all her records. No after laying I. A bed without no pressure air mattress, they are sending her to a nursing home. I requested repeatedly to transfer her to Cleveland. Denied! I requested neurology stress they can't do and MRI... never happened. One nurse was very good. The rest could care less. I would sit with her for 5 or 6 hours and never see a Dr or nurse. Stroke center... what a joke. This area needs a good hospital. I hope Cleveland clinic takes over all these crap hospitals so people can get decent care. I wish I could give a zero rating! read more

Was recently treated at St Eve's in Boardman, first I sat in the waiting room for over 9 hours!!!! When I was finally seen the doctor stood at the door and said I will write you some scripts and sent me on my way. never did an exam or anything. In less than 3 min they were done with me. I ended up even worse off and back again for another 9 hour wait to see another doctor for less than 3 minutes again!!! I spent 10 times longer with the lady who made sure the hospital would get there money than a doctor. Finally my condition had taken another turn for the worse and after a conversation with my doctor I elected to go to Cleveland for treatment where I was admitted for a possible staff infection for 3 days where a team of doctors are still treating my condition. A night and day difference in the quality of care. Youngstown is in big trouble when all we have to turn to is Mercy Health!!!!! read more

Worst shit hole hospital I have been in. Had colon surgery. Doctor's we're great. Surgery team good. Nursing on 8 west sucked. Only about ten percent did their job. Black nurses and students did nothing but carry on all night. Food quality is poor. No hot water in the showers. The head nurse Cathy ronci on the floor was great. Over all I'd rather die than go back to that shit hole. They can f--- off. read more

Think LONG AND HARD before you dare bring anyone you care about to this hospital. They don't call it "the morgue" for nothing. I have to live with this soul crushing regret every single day of my life, I wish to god we had taken my mother to a better hospital. The standard of care during 2020 was nothing short of despicable. They treated her for Covid, which she did not have. Seems pretty negligent to me. It's import to figure out the nature of an infection before you go treating it. They held her captive in there for weeks and wouldn't allow any visitors until my brother threatened with legal action. I will never forget and I will never forgive. I'm sure my review will be censored, as no one seems to want to take any accountability for the nightmarish Covid policies and everyone wants to erase it and act like it never happened. Well, it ruined my life so I don't have that luxury. Please avoid this hospital if you can help it. read more

Not impressed. Is this place even accredited? TIP: You must be a strong vigilant advocate if a loved one is unfortunately hospitalized here. My grandmother was hospitalized at St. Elizabeth after a fall. I was happy that the hospital put a bright bracelet on her that read "fall risk" but too bad the staff didn't do anything to mitigate that risk. As soon as I walked into my grandmother's room, I found that she had gotten out of bed by herself and was unsteadily walking to the bathroom with no walker or assistance. She said that she had paged the nurse 3x over 45 minutes for help but no one had acknowledged her so she decided to go by herself. I tracked down her nurse who blamed the fact that she didn't have a CNA to help her with patients. That's not my grandmother's problem! Grandma shared a room with an older woman with dementia who had surgery the prior day. I was in that room for 12 hrs and saw a nurse check on that woman twice and only to what looked to me to administer meds. The next day, the woman's granddaughter visited and was livid to find her grandmother sitting in her own urine and feces. I shared with her that I never saw a nurse change her the day before. That granddaughter had 2 nurses changing her within 10 minutes. I have lots of experience dealing with elderly loved one in hospitals. Like any place, it's important to act as their vocal - and often perceived as b*tchy - advocate but never have I seen what I consider to be poor, neglectful care. read more

My grandson was recently admitted into the hospital at the Belmont avenue location. I've been visiting him in the ward daily only to find the most heartless and rude staff during my visits. These so- called "nurses" talk down to me whenever I approach them to inquire about my grandson's care and progress. In fact, on one particular morning I tried to telephone the nurse's station to set up an appointments to see my grandson during visiting hours without success. Finally, I had to contact the adjacent ward to inform them (the ward my grandson is in) what was happening to please dispatch a staff member to investigate why no one is taking telephone calls and that I'm very worried. Later that morning I arrived to visit my grandson. We both approached a nurse who was sitting at the nurse's station eating. I asked the "nurse" why no one was taking calls earlier. she looked up at me as if I was bothering her and said in a rude manner, "Maybe it's because we're busy. There are only two of us here. If you want to speak to a nurse your grandson's nurse is right over there." She was sarcastic and simply couldn't be bothered by us. She proceeded to smirk at me as she indicated the nurse on the other side of the nurse's station. I was so shocked by her behavior I backed away then walked over to speak with the other nurse. That nurse too was as rude as the first. when I finally left the ward I went to the administration offices to report the incident. I was given one supervisor's name. I dailed the number leaving a message. Later that supervisor returned my call. I reported the incident to the supervisor who communicated to me he would generate some inquiries about my concerns and if I needed further assistance to call him again. Today I arrived at the hospital to visit my grandson only to be told by two attending nurses I was not permitted into the unit to see my grandson. Clearly this was some sort of retaliation for voicing my concerns about the two nurses who have been treating me in an unprofessional manner. Now my grandson is in the middle of this pushback by the "nurses" in that ward - how despicable!! read more

This hospital is the worst I ever dealt with. The staff is rude and uncaring, not to mention totally incompetent. My daughter was in the ER and they refused to give me any information on her status. My wife and daughter had to wait in the ER for 19 hours only to be told they had to go to another hospital. I will definitely be contacting the state to file a formal complaint. Pretty bad when a person goes in the hospital for a simple procedure and comes out worse off then went in over 4 hours later. 9-8-22 had bipsy of bladder scheduled by the urologist. arrived about 720 am, left after noon that day. was told a twilight sleep!. once the twilight started going in i was fast asleep not twilight!! they had to use a breathing tube-okay but not scratch my throat so bad i could not eat that day or swallow water without pain so bad had to limits it's intake!!!. when complained to patients advocate, it was like okay so what can i do about it!! not caring. hope after 1 st. day it somewhat goes away so at least water is possible !! read more

Would leave a 0 star review if I could. Brought my 68 year old grandma to the ER got into a room decently fast then waited nearly 8 hours from 3pm till 10 pm. Told the doctors she was having extreme back pain within the past 2 days felt like someone hit her with a bat in her mid back. They prescribed her with some naproxen and lidocaine patches. Said it was a sore muscle. Sent her home like nothing happened even when she was crying trying to get comfortable in the bed. We then drove home and they called her and told her she has multiple fractures in her back. She had about 6 fractured areas T6-T11 are then new ones. They also said she had older fractures. She asked for new prescriptions now that they know her back is basically broken. They prescribed her with Vicodin that was no refillable.... Thanks to the radiologist that noticed the multiple fractures after we already left. Nextly the room we were in. The room had no curtains and only a glass door. The doctors repeatedly lifted her shirt exposing her bare breast to the open while connecting tubes and cables and what not. We were in a freezing cold room. Not offered blankets we had to ask. Have not ate in the hours we were there. Most part I was upset about is the wait. Lady said 10 minutes till the people came and transported her. But waited about a hour and a half because they forgot about us. MOST IMPORTANTLY we just got the little description back and results from them. They said she complained about chest pain instead of back pain. They said that she had difficulty breathing which she did not. They said pain in chest worsened with deep breaths. This was all a lie and they did not listen to a word she said. This was probably due to the multiple different doctors that came in and asked the same questions because they didn't know the other doctors had came in and did the exact same thing. There was no communication at all between doctors. Overall experience was terrible would not recommend to anyone. read more

Minus stars are not in the selection. From my husbands ER visit in 2007, his 13 day stay in 2016 and his ER visit October 19, 2020, all were horrible! On the 13 day stay, I ended up paying to have him transported to Cleveland Clinic. The ER visit this past Monday, he went in, explaining had 4 days of diarrhea. Also told them he was diabetic. Was tested for: Sepsis - negative / CB Blood work - All in normal range / Lipase (small intestine blockage???) - negative / Troponin - no sign of myocrdial injury. I'm not a doctor, but what about some IV fluids???? His blood sugar test, by the way was 45. 4 hours later he walked out of (not, was released) the hospital, telling them he had to get food. He could have had an accident, injuring not only himself but others!! Save your loved one the pain and suffering and yourself the frustration of dealing with this hospital. Absolute worst care I have ever had - came in as a trauma left in a cervical collar, flat on my back with no call button/remote provided. I asked another patient standing In The hall to hand me the light. Laid in my own urine for more than hour. When the call light was pressed they just turned it off and no one came. Was in the ER for 10 hours and saw one dr for less than 4 minutes. I worked 10 years in direct patient care and understand being busy and short staffed - the lack of caring and compassion at this facility was like nothing I had ever seen. I feel sorry for any person ever forced to use this facility. There was one nurse that discharged us and the Chaplain that tried to do what they could to help us. I can't say enough about the EMS guys that helped/transported us. If you can be treated and the scene and avoid this awful hospital that is my recommendation. Some staff members are truly caring. Others seemed burned out. Staff to patient ratio at the Belmont Ave. location do not appear to meet hospital accreditation standards. In fact we were informed that the hospital was short staffed. A family member was with our Father 24 hours a day because we were concerned of substandard care. When staff is asked for something, blank stares are usually provided, with pasted smiles. Yes, they respond but it may take hours. We do not recommend this hospital but if you live in Youngstown, your options are limited. read more

I had gone to the ER at the Boardman location about a week ago. I had a terrible migraine causing nonstop vomiting. The ER staff was impressively fast and effective. They treated me very quickly in order to stop the vomiting and intense pain I was feeling. What absolutely made the difference in this visit though was an employee named Bob, who was the ER transport to CT and other various locations. I was horribly cold during this, probably from dehydration, and was shaking very bad. After going to CT, Bob offered me a heated blanket which I accepted. Due to how cold I was, Bob actually brought me 2 blankets which stopped my chills and shaking enough to where I could rest and allow the medication to work to alleviate my headache. I left with a full headache, but much better than when I arrived thanks to the awesome nurses and doctors working that night. read more

1 star is way too many! ZERO stars. The PA and ER doc who had my son as a patient had NO idea what they were doing. They had to do a lumbar puncture for spinal fluid to check for meningitis. They stuck him between 9 and 11 times and never got it. They tortured him for 15 minutes and left him with CSF leaks causing spinal headaches for days and leaving him unable to enjoy the last two weeks of summer and missing football! DO NOT LET ANYONE IN THE ER DO THIS TO YOU! If you must have this procedure done, insist that radiology or anesthesia perform it. By the way, I do anesthesia for a living so I know what I'm talking about. read more

This is the worst hospital ever!!!! My Dad was admitted here after a fall on ice and hitting his head. They did 2 catscans and said he had a small brain bleed and would keep him overnight to keep an eye on him. He was dizzy and terribly nasouse and terrible muscle spasms in his back gave him Robaxin for muscle spasms after 48 hours or more he said the robaxin wasn't helping they could only give him tylenol Due to his dizziness . After the pain went away he decidedhe didn't need it but they kept giving him both meds anyhow even after my Mom and I told them he did not want it. He had diareah for 8 days fianally checked his stool sample and said results would not be back for 24 hrs. So they kept him again. His room mate was told he was going home by therapy nurse comes in and said no hes goung to rehab same thing with my dad social wo4ker says rehab they are waiting for ins. Co. To approve it this was the excuse for at least 5 days finally a Dr comes in and releases him he is supposed to have 3 prescriptions but they didn't ask what pharmacy he wanted them to be called in to so we wait finally 1.5 hrs later he doesnt have to have these prescriptions so now we are waiting on wheel chair 2 hrs later my Mom goes to nurse's station to find out how much longer she said go get car and they will bring him right out after 35 min. M6 Mom calls his room to find out he is still there. My Dad comes out of the bathroom to find a Dr there tell8ng him he has to check him before he leaves so the Dr starts feeling his shoulder and says "the good news is you dont have nodules My Dads has no clue what Dr is talking about here 5he Dr was thinking my Dad was the guy in the same room as him. Terrible nurses. My mom was admitted yesterday & the nite nurse Donna completely ignored her. My mom has dementia & nurse wouldn't help me calm her down and said she'd call doctor but hadn't done so after an hour passed. Horrible hospital for elderly. If I hadn't been there my mom would have tried to get to bathroom by herself. We ended up having to remove my mom from the room. Calling Cleveland Clinic today. read more

This is the worst ER ever. Three years ago when my elderly mom was in an auto accident and I told them her legs were caught they never x-rayed them so no one knew they were broken for two days and my mom endured so much pain. The day my mom died was the worst ever. She had trouble breathing so I called the ambulance. No one told me what was going on except her breathing was diminished, I'm not medical so it didn't sound life threatening. I found out later my mom had severe respiratory distress but Lane never told me. After they took her I got some things together in case they admitted her but when I went to the ER my mom had a oxygen mask just lying in the hallway all by herself. I went to go up to her when the emt from Lane pulled me and said we need to get her registered. I could see her from where I was and no one was attending to her at all so I didn't think for one second that she was suffering like she was. I did get a glimpse of her and I never saw anyone look like that, she looked awful. After the registration person took forever copying everything I started to walk up to my mom who had been just lying in the hallway by herself. As I approached her I saw them push her into a room , she had died and I had no clue or I would have at least been able to sit with her or ask for comfort care but because her body couldn't get enough oxygen it started to shut down and then she had a heart attack. I didn't the know the truth about how she died until I saw the run report from lane saying it was respiratory distress. My mom had to suffer so much and had to be so frightened and I wasn't with her. Dr Palumbo and Dr Ray both have always been so arrogant thinking they are gods were sitting there and if someone can't breath it's a medical emergency but they left her there, never asked me anything and let her die. Now, how do you think I feel about all this? It's been almost 3 months and I can't sleep or have nightmares as I was her caregiver and I loved her and if they weren't going to treat her they could have done comfort care instead of leaving her in the hallway for 20 minutes, they killed her and she suffered greatly. I still wonder why Lane had written that she was a non emergency? Was that orders from the ER because the papers said they knew she was coming. Be very careful of this place, go downtown if it's a broken bone or worse as these doctors don't care especially if your loved one is older. read more

They always say nothing is wrong with you and send you on your way, and when they do admit you they never update there charts. They always say I am a diabetic even though I am not (even when my A1C is always checked and comes back normal, I don't take anything for diabetes, they always give me diabetic meals, like enough is enough), and they always send my meds to pharmacies I never even heard o. You never see a doctor, and never contact your emergency contacts. If I ever need to go to a hospital I will go to Trumbull Memorial. read more

Think they hire the most obnoxious nurses here. Went in for abdominal pain, the vitals nurse was chewing gum in my face, sounding like a goat, smelling like a black and mild! Acting like she couldn't hear. I went here 9 times exactly before they finally discovered I had pancreatitis... and then another 5 times. Before discovering my gallbladder had a tear in it. Went into surgery, my arms became swollen and th r y told me my arms were like that when I came in.. the hospital bands were cutting into my skin, yeah I don't think so! After surgery, I got pancreatitis again, They tried to put me into the cat scan, and told me the metal clips would probably heat up, I refused to go in the machine, the tech then referred me as a little bitch to his co worker. Recently I went to the hospital for the Same pains, did the cat scan, I had an allergic reaction, as my bod u filled with horrible itchy lumps, I sat for 15 minutes begging for something, finally a nurse heard me crying to my husband on the phone, she gave me a steroid and an allergic medicine. The itchy lumps went away and a nurse came in and ave me a morphine drip that wasn't for me, but the woman in the next room, I was livid!! read more

Waited 5 hours for results of blood and an x ray and am still waiting. Asked nurse for a pillow for my mom to rest and they never brought one to her. They said they could not find any.
