We looked up nearby mechanics and decided to try Clines. We called and 10 minutes later Billy was there with his tow truck and brought us (My Wife and 5 children) back to his shop. They were extremely busy that day but to my shock and surprise, Billy said he would get us up and running that day because he didn't want us stranded and for our family to get back home. They were able to find a new alternator and get it installed in just a couple of hours. While the work was being done, they allowed us to commandeer their office and use it as a resting place for our children. Tammy (office manage) was the most gracious host. Being in their office for a few hours, I also got to witness their interaction with other customers. If I didn't know otherwise I would have guessed that everyone that came in was a family member because that is how they talked and treated them. Billy got us a very great price on the alternator and the labor cost was extremely honest and fair. Also, as we were leaving, Billy caught a mistake made by the last place we had our vehicle serviced 3 weeks prior to. He noticed a missing lug nut on one of our tires. He had us pull back up (after the shop had closed) and checked and tightened all the lug nuts on the car (they were all loose). I could go on and on about so many more details of what happened and what Cline's did to go above and beyond what they had to do, to help us out in a pinch. The only bad thing is they are located a few hours away from our home. Otherwise, we would take all of our vehicles to them for our mechanical needs. Cline's staff are genuinely good people!! We can't thank them enough!

GET EVERYTHING IN WRITING IN ADVANCE! $4020 bill after a Mini Cooper accident on I-81. The VA State trooper called Cline's Towing in Rural Retreat. The Mini Cooper was in the road, right side up, but inoperable due to broken radiator. Cline's loaded it onto a flatbed for transportation. Initial $3420 are related to towing after the accident. Remaining $450 and $150 are for storage and second tow. UPDATE September 13, 2025 I have received a reply to my complaint with the Virginia Attorney General. I am posting it here so that it can be seen alongside the invoice. Cline's is not proposing any adjustment to the many fees charged, rather they have taken the route of claiming the fees are legit and saying I was rude (I disagree). I'd be happier to post an update that they reached out with a reasonable proposal regarding the excessive fees. Fees Invoiced: $1450 - State Police Call $195 - Admin Fee $125 - Gate Fee $250 - Clean-Up $150 - Environmental Fee $125 - Labor $450 - Tow/Hook-Up $150 - Winching Fee $75 - Fuel Surcharge $450 - Accident Scene $450 - Impound/Storage (6 days) $150 - Second Tow from Cline's Rural Retreat to Turkey Pen Marion ------- Total $4020

These people were so kind!…read moreThey came to take care of the car and they made sure my kids were safe while they worked on the car. They don't know, but I suffered the death of my oldest this year so having my other kids stranded in a different state was terrifying. I can never express the amount of gratitude I have for their kindness and willingness to watch out for a stranger's kids. They were so honest when I insisted on a replacing a part that really wasn't necessary they let me know and put my mind at ease when they checked it told me why I didn't need to replace it. Then they gave the car a once over and alerted us to an issue that will need to be fixed in the next year or so. My kids are now safely back on the road. my heart is full and I'm so thankful I called them.

Most of the reviews I read or either just super great or they have completely screwed someone ( like myself). So if you chose to use them just know its about 50/50 if you are going to get good service but please be aware that they might tow your car, not tell you when it is fixed, not answer questions or give you estimates then put a lien on it and try to charge you $65 day storage while they hold your car hostage and threaten to sell it. Plus I am not sure they did ANY repairs at all and basically just held my RV and charged me storage and when I called their bluff. HAD MY CAMPER SINCE 2023 Just now getting it back.
