pork mofungo and steak
Liana A.

my partner and i went here for valentines day and the food was phenomenal!! we ordered the chicharrones, pork mofungo, and chimichurri steak. we each got a drink that was very strong and yummy. the food took almost an hour to come, however it was well worth the wait. the portions were huge and we both had enough leftovers for lunch. the waitress was very kind and helpful. after a hefty tip, the total was ~$100. we definitely will be back and next time will bring a bunch of friends!

My Review

Terrible experience. Read my full review on the photo. * server was a chaotic mess *food was average *poor service - no drink menu was offered -loos for the restaurant.

This place does Dominican staples well. Whether you're dining in or getting take out/delivery, the food is fresh, well seasoned and cooked and portions are big. The price may seem a bit steep for Dominican food but the portions really do justify the prices. 3 stars because the yuca and tostones did not come with the picadera as advertised and based on other reviews this is a common mistake. The quality of the rice they use is also not great, you can't tell if you get the Moro or chofan but absolutely noticeable if you order the plain, white rice. Overall this is a safe option if you're in the area and craving Dominican food.

I am very familiar with Caribbean food specially Dominican food. The food here was very well done, tasty, and well seasoned. This is the kind of food that you would eat at home if you grew up in Dominican households. It is also the type of food that is familiar to those of us that grew up in cities with a large Dominican presence. I came with a group and everyone loved the Sangria; it was strong! All around everyone enjoyed their food. Service was attentive. The ambiance was nice; they played Aventura on repeat.

I haven't been here I quite I while as I moved out of state, but coming back for a nice Sunday meal they did not disappoint. The food was still as delicious as it was before the taste never changes, the waitress where nice and remembered our exact order with out writing it down. Ambiance, Food, Drinks, Service was great.

We LOVE the food here!!!! Everything is always delicious and it's freshly made! The servers are always so nice and they are super friendly. If you don't like loud environments this might not be the place for you as they always have loud music playing but it's always good! Parking around the area is always easy as well. We always find parking around the corner.

Food was great and atmosphere too, only problem was the SERVICE. The woman that took care of us did not showed an smile interacting with us. When she finally brought the food I asked her for a plate and she refused to bring it and said to me that I could just use one of the plate where she brought the food in. I got very offended and got up and kindly ask her "can you just bring me an extra empty plate?" She came and throw it at me with horrible attitude. The was rushing us out the table before we were done with our meals. Don't know her name, but this happened today Sunday February 12 of 2023 between 4:30 and 5:50. Dark skin woman, short hair ponytail and around 5' feet tall. Nice place HORRIBLE WAITRESS. I'm honestly scare to go back.

Merengue have been around for so long now. I'm glad they are still open during these rough time due to COVID-19. Upon arrival we got greeted and seated right away. I'm glad we came right after I got out of work because it got pretty busy once we were seated. The service is always lovely. The atmosphere is real mellow. Cleanness and tidy ness is always good. They're following the proper protocol with the 6ft apart and mask. I stuck to my usual order which was the 8oz skirt steak served with green/red peppers with a side of chimichurri sauce. The fried cheese and fried salami is a must for appetizer. Overall, I do recommend this place for a chill vibe.

Over fried my red snapper fish and marinated it in garlic sauce. Fish was so hard. They make the plantains, rice and beans well.

I've been on the hunt for a banging churrasco dish since coming from PR and had yet to find one but this place did just that! We started with an oxtail dish served over mashed plantains, layered with pork, onions, and a blend of seasonings, all brought together with a rich, flavorful sauce. Every bite was tender, savory, and perfectly balanced, you can tell this is comfort food done right. We also ordered a side of crispy pork with yellow rice and beans, and it did not disappoint. The pork had that perfect crisp on the outside while staying juicy inside, and everything paired beautifully with the fresh vegetables on the side. Service really made the experience even better. Melissa, our waitress, was sweet, professional, and incredibly accommodating, she made sure we had everything we needed without ever feeling rushed. The ambiance ties it all together. The decor gives you that authentic island, Dominican feel, making it a great spot to relax and enjoy a meal. Just a quick note: they serve beer and wine only, which still pairs nicely with the food. Overall, this was an amazing experience from start to finish. I'll definitely be back!

The pollo a la brasa was juicy and flavorful, and the chicharrónes were crispy and satisfying. Pro tip: ask for the sautéed onions on top -- they take everything to another level. The…read moreportion sizes are huge and the prices are so affordable - I will absolutely be coming back here again and again. This time, I ended up getting the Chicharrón with spaghetti instead of rice and beans because I had heard that Dominican spaghetti was something I had to try, and I didn't regret it at all. For the price of $14, this was probably 1.5-2 portions of food. I will be having this for dinner later on today! Chicharrón ($14) - These were deep fried pork belly chunks and they were pretty much cooked perfectly. They were seasoned well and just so crispy and juicy. When you deep fry pork belly in chunks, it's really easy to overcook them and dry them out, but this was just wonderfully lightly crispy on the outside and still so juicy and moist on the inside. Biting into each chunk was like a wonderful burst of flavor - really amazing job on these. Spaghetti (side) - Ah yes the Dominican spaghetti. If you want Italian pasta, this is not it, but it had a certain home-cooked charm and was a type of spaghetti I had not tasted before. It was creamy, tomato-ey, and buttery. The closest I can compare is that it had the texture of chef boyardee pasta, but the taste was much more smokey with hints of sweetness and umami. It was really filling and delicious! All in all - a great deal. $14 for that much food and meat is amazing, and everything tasted really fresh and well-cooked. I will absolutely be returning!

Another day, another Spanish restaurant!…read more It's a true blessing to live around wonderful Dominican/Puerto Rican restaurants. My son loves arroz con pollo. He can eat it everyday. When I walked in, it was a little cozy restaurant with 6-7 seatings. It was lunch time so there were a few tables occupied. I was there to get lunch to go. I wish I took more pictures of the hot bar. The two lovely ladies there were nice and helpful. I wish I knew they had a lunch menu because the gentleman that came in after me, he asked for the lunch portion. Next time! I got stewed chicken and white rice/beans for $19. It's the dinner portion. Not sure if I could have gotten sides like sweet plantains or yucca. A little language barrier. For $19, I'm assuming it should come with it but didn't. That's ok! Next time ima make sure to ask. One of the ladies that came out after knew English but it was too late because I already paid for my order. My whole order came out to be $30. This included the stewed chicken, side order of spaghetti, and side order of tuna mac salad. Everything was delicious. The stewed chicken was good but compared to my other places, this is probably 4th on the list. A little too salty. The spaghetti was really good. If you never had Dominican spaghetti before, I highly you to go try! Tuna salad at this spot was really good. So far the best I've had. Will definitely come back here to try other things! Especially the lunch menu. Downfall was, I didn't see a menu. Looked around for 5 minutes but couldn't find it lol
