I mean, I wasn't expecting to call an electrician today...but I also wasn't expecting to wake up to…read morepartial power, then have Huntsville Utilities tell me my main meter box was "shooting sparks" and have them yank my power completely off, warning me to call an electrician ASAP. I called around to various places, but Brown and Love were the only crew that sent someone out ASAP. They were on the job pretty much immediately, diagnosing the problem and quickly surmising this was going to be the job from hell because of our huge amp box. Now, when you're told that you may be looking at several THOUSANDS of dollars to get your power back on...you're not happy. However, I think Michael was madder about this than I was (I just wanted power at that point) as he and the crew spent HOURS--yes, hours--finding a cheaper option. And what do you know, they did. While we were waiting for parts sourcing they also removed a light fixture, changed out a ceiling fan, and replaced some blank breakers. We had TWO guys out working ALL DAY, they promised me they would fix the problem (and they did!), they were super friendly, and the price was more than reasonable (and not several thousand dollars, due to the fact they weren't trying to price gouge us). 100% ethical, honest, legit business who we'll call again once the dreaded electrician is needed.

I bought a top of the line HVAC unit from Thomas last year. Really a good experience getting it…read moreinstalled. Well last night my heat shut off and wouldn't stay on. They sent a technician out and fixed it quickly. There was a problem with a factory component that was upgraded at the factory but not labeled...it caused an excessive electrical drain. The technician fixed me up quickly and they honored their warranty. The service tech also noticed an electric issue I didn't even know I had. Definitely will be fixing that. WE RECOMMEND YOU DO NOT USE THOMAS HVAC! On 15 May (Friday),…read moreThomas HVAC did the Spring service on the HVAC unit. Said everything looked good. The following Tuesday, the AC stopped working. This is a GREE unit purchased from and installed by Thomas HVAC for $12,000 three years ago with a 10-year warranty. Called Thomas HVAC. On 21 May, they came. He spent three hours trying to determine the issue and could not. He said he was unable to contact the GREE Tech Rep and also notified his Service Manager (Robert). He could not determine the problem, nor could they get GREE to call them back. He would have to come back. Dylan came back 22 May. He took several hours but finally said they had determined the problem - both the main motherboard and inverter motherboards were bad. Someone would let us know how long that would take to get the parts, but Labor was $800 to install these new parts, but they gave us a break and the estimate was ~only $600. When we asked what would have caused the issue, he said that we should have had an outside surge protector for the air conditioner. We do have one installed by Thomas HVAC at their suggestion previously. I spoke with Robert the Service Manager asking him if the parts could be expedited. He said they could not and we were the ones that needed to call GREE to get them to put urgency on the parts. He said the warranty was with GREE and not with them so we needed to call. I asked for the GREE phone number, which he did not know. The next day, the Thomas office rep called back and said they were going to place the order with their distributor, and would take 7 to 14 working days (up to three weeks) to get the two motherboards (maybe) and when they came in, they would call. I called Saturday and left a message on Robert's cell phone - no call back. The office person said they could not rush GREE that we would need to do that. However, Thomas did not have a phone number to call for GREE, except the manufacturing plant in China. I called on Sunday 24 May but could not reach anyone who spoke English to assist. Monday 25 May I called and spoke to the office and asked if she could tell me the ETA and an order number that I could give GREE. She said I would need to speak with the parts ordering person, transferred me. She was very nice but told me that we would need to wait 7-14 business days, but the order had been placed with the distributor. I called the distributor, no answer so I left a message. Still no call back from the distributor. I called Thomas HVAC the next day as asked if they could confirm the ETA and ETD but said I needed to contact GREE. I called again the next day to get an update, had to leave a voicemail. No call back. Called the next day still trying to get confirmation and ETA. I told the parts person that it was not my job to call GREE to find out when it could get here but theirs (since we purchased the unit from Thomas and not GREE in China) and asked her to have the Service Manager call me. Finally on 28 May I received a call from Robert the Service manager who was very upset. He told me to stop harassing his people and calling the office. I reiterated all I wanted was confirmation of when the parts would arrive and he said none could be given that it was my responsibility to push GREE not his. He said if I did not stop harassing his people, he would block me and put me on the no service list at Thomas HVAC. He said they had placed the order, and when it came in they would call me to schedule an install. I asked him if I was just supposed to sit around for three weeks waiting for the parts to maybe come in without any update? He said yes. He asked me if I thought I was special and used profanity. My wife heard this conversation. I said I only expected updates on when it was coming in. He again used foul language and said he was placing me on the do not call list at Thomas and hung up on me. I discovered that in fact been blocked at Thomas. I called another company and they came out the same day and diagnosed the problem; they were able to get the new part in less than a week. The new company said that based on the serial number the unit sold to us by Thomas three years ago, was already 2 years old when installed. The new company also said that the parts were not under warranty as Thomas had recorded one digit in the serial number incorrectly with GREE. So, the unit did not have a 10-year warranty. IT HAD NO WARRANTY. Our choices were to put new parts in costing us thousands of dollars into a unit that still would not have a warranty or install a new unit. We opted to install a new unit with a 10-year warranty at a cost of $16,000 with an install of the next day. So, Thomas cost me weeks (a month) without an AC, plus the price of a portable air conditioner, plus the original $12,000 for the GREE unit and another $16,000 for the new unit. They should have to at least pay for the new unit. But since I am blocked, I cannot call them.

I had one small issue with something that was not hooked up right and they came right back out and fixed it. They offer free maintenance for a year on every new system. They also gave me a surge protector with the new system, which is something you normally have to buy separately. I will definitely use them again!

The company that initially came was very pushy and wanted us to sign and agree to have them replace it right then. Thankfully we held off to consult other HVAC companies. We received quotes from 4 different companies, and we can say that Talent's pricing and offerings are reasonable and fair. They were very laidback yet professional. Terry was who came out to our house initially, and he was great! We felt at ease choosing their team. The young men who came to install our unit were very courteous and seemed to pay good attention to detail. I really appreciated that they always wore coverings on their shoes (they are the only company who did this). Small things like that make such a difference to me! It has only been a few days since the install, but we are very pleased. We would recommend them to anyone and plan to use them again in the future!
