Came out for emergency service to my HVAC system before I was a regular customer. Then did a great job providing what was needed

INCREDIBLY DISSAPOINTED! BE WARNED! We scheduled a service call for March 24th, 2026 and were told that the technician would be there in the afternoon and would call on his way. We took off work and waited. Text messages came assuring us they were on their way several times, only to get a voicemail later that they should have scheduled it early in the morning since there were 3 air conditioners and wouldn't make it. I called back, rescheduled for today April 14th. I received a text message this morning letting me know I was on the schedule and that they would be in contact with us when the tech was on his way. By 11:00am I had heard nothing. I contacted them (all done through AI mind you) and they said they heard my concern and someone would be coming out still today. At 3:00pm I contacted them again and they said now, the gentleman that was scheduled to come out here was stuck and couldn't come out until tomorrow...So do you think they were actually going to come out tomorrow? The answer is no. I live in a rural town which they CLAIM to service but its only if you are convenient. Poor planning, poor scheduling, they will drop you for their higher paying jobs. They don't care to lose your service because they can't keep up with it anyways. Take my advice and call someone else. Insincere. Diengenous. Should probably higher some real people. Now certainly wouldn't trust them to do a good job and not rush to something else. read more

Title: 10 out of 10 DO NOT RECOMMEND - Predatory Pricing and Incompetent Diagnostics If I could give Blake Bros zero stars, I would. Our technician (not going to call him a plumber), Christopher, came out to look at our water heater and demonstrated either a shocking lack of competence or a blatant attempt to scam us. Instead of doing the bare minimum--like asking me to switch the system off "vacation mode" to properly test the recirculating pump--he went outside, tinkered for a moment, and baselessly declared the pump was broken. He claimed a new pump would take a week or more to arrive. But, how convenient, he just happened to have a brand-new water heater of the exact same model ready to install that very day--for a staggering $7,700. I decided to get a second opinion from another plumbing company, and thank goodness I did. The second plumber actually did his job. He immediately checked the diagnostic codes on the unit (which Christopher didn't even bother to do) and saw it was throwing a Code 55 and told me about a pinhole leak at the water heater that had ruined the ground underneath, making it completely squishy. Christopher never mentioned this leak, which leaves me seriously wondering if he missed it entirely, or worse, if he caused it while he was "inspecting" the unit. On my model code 55 simply means the unit needs a flush. His inspection was done in under 5 minutes from his arrival with a quote of $295.00 to fix the leak AND flush the system prepared in under 15 minutes from his ringing my doorbell. To put this into even sharper perspective, that exact model of water heater can be purchased right now at Home Depot for $1,700 and a dear friend of mine was more than willing to come visit and remove and replace the unit for me since there was no additional internal plumbing required. Disconnect and Reconnect. I understand standard parts markup, but this is something else entirely--it is purely PREDATORY pricing. In the end, the second company fixed the pinhole leak and flushed the system for exactly $295. Inspection, quote and repair in 2 hours. I also asked them what they would normally charge for a full replacement of that model, and they quoted me $4,500. This means Blake Bros was trying to hit me with a 71% markup over a standard replacement cost for a unit that didn't even need to be replaced! As a blind individual, I am unable to physically see for myself what mechanically needs to be done. I firmly believe this company saw a well-off blind person and decided to try and milk a cow for nothing but cream. Attempting to exploit someone's disability to line your own pockets is nothing short of criminal. This is not the first time we've felt we received an exorbitant quote from Blake Bros, but I used them because I was in a bind and new to the area. This experience absolutely confirmed my suspicions. I've used Blake Brothers several times through the years at 3 different homes and have always been satisfied with their technicians and the work they did. However, after having a faulty kitchen faucet installation by them in July 2025 that changed. The faucet sprang a leak overnight on September 4, 2025 and I woke up to flooded floors causing over $50,000 damage including expenses for cleanup/mitigation, furniture moveout/movein, hotel stays, and replacement of my floors and cabinet bases. Since I had a home warranty and wasn't initially aware what exactly caused the leak, the home warranty company called another plumber to do the repair. When that plumbing company told me what the problem was, I called Blake Brothers on September 5 (the day after the leak) and spoke with the plumbing manager to ask for at least some reimbursement for the expenses the faulty installation caused. I also sent all the receipts that day per his request, including the one from the plumber who repaired the faucet. Originally, the plumbing manager seemed open to my request and said he would see what he could do. When I didn't hear anything back I followed up with him and he said he wasn't sure if Accounts Payable would approve any reimbursement but I never heard back so called again. What followed was 6 months of me sending emails and making phone calls asking for follow-up, sending and re-sending receipts, unanswered calls and emails, claims they never received my emails, and inconsistent communications about if and how they'd resolve the issue from 3 different managers. I finally filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau on 1/13/26. The next day I got a response from Blake Brothers via BBB stating "Unfortunately, we were not contacted when the issue arose nearly two months later, so we didn't have the opportunity to inspect the faucet or address the concern ourselves" which was absolutely false. In addition to the phone call I made the day after the leak and subsequent follow-up calls, all they had to do was reference the emails I sent on 10/3, 11/5, 1/29, 2/10 and 2/13 before making that claim. After my original complaint to BBB, there were 2 more months of back and forth via the BBB complaint portal. I didn't get a final resolution until 3/17/26 saying they'd send me a refund for the installation they did, but also erroneously stated - again - that I didn't contact them until 2 months after the incident. If they had simply agreed to reimburse me at the very least for their labor on the faucet installation when I originally called in September, this fiasco and months of frustration could've been avoided. Although the technicians at Blake Brothers have always done excellent work except for this incident, I'll never use Blake Brothers again due to the terrible customer service and misrepresentation of the truth that I experienced by their management team. read more

UPDATE Friday 4-3-26 My husband was contacted first thing this morning out of concern for multiple and ongoing negative reviews across multiple social networking and advertising platforms. They offered to remit payment immediately and we were reimbursed as per contractor agreement. I'm not changing original review because it shouldn't have come to this. We are very understanding people and for us, communication is everything. An email, call, or even a text would have sufficed. Thursday 4-2-26 My husband is a contractor who did work at this place of business two weeks ago and still has not been paid for the work. This is not the first time this company hasn't paid for a job. The first time, the reason they didn't pay the invoice for the job was because they didn't have a "signed contractor agreement" on file. They did, however, get an itemized estimate and were agreeable to terms therein. Fine. Lesson learned. This time, an initial contractor agreement was signed. Job is completed as of today. THEN they came back and said wait, we need additional work in addition to what was already agreed on so a new agreement was sent to them. They have stopped answering calls and responding to emails. read more

They were at my house until 8:00 getting us to buy the unit. Got it because it was hot and we needed it done. They came and installed it no problems.... So we thought. The drains were not properly put in and it leaked. Called them and it took an act of congress to get them to come out and check it. They put us in the schedule for the next day when our unit was not working three weeks after being installed. I had to call back and raise hell to get them to come out. Their customer service is horrible. Well the girls are not bad but after you buy the u it they do t care about your follow up needs. We had additional damage to our garage roof from the drain issue but they said it's our problem that it was that big when they started. No it wasn't. I had a leaky water heater and asked them to check it out. They said that I needed to replace my hot water heater and quoted $4,500. I'm not dumb and know water heaters are only $600 and an easy diy, but I'm 2k miles away. I asked for just install cost and he said $1850. Called a different company and for 1695 I got a larger water heater and install. read more

We pay about $19 a month to be part of the Blake Brothers "membership" service program which entitles us to 1 free plumbing and 1 free A/C inspection yearly. The free inspection of our 3-Ton main house A/C unit was done at the end of May 2025 and the tech identified one failing capacitor out of three total. He stated the replacement cost (with membership discount) at $450.00. I declined. Checking the suspected capacitor, it did indeed need replacement. BUT the cost of an exact replacement capacitor from Amazon was less than $13.00 total and it took me less than 30 minutes to exchange it. $450 to replace a $13 capacitor is a RIP-OFF and taking advantage of a customer. If everyone around me is using Blake Brothers then that in itself is a testimony of their work. They quickly dispatched Austin Fleming to our house and he assessed the situation, spoke to my home warranty representative, quoted the replacement cost, and quickly got the work done. He was very polite, informative, and knew how to bring everything up to code. I highly recommend Blake Brothers for your plumbing needs. And, as I was informed today, they do mechanical and electrical too. They also honor military veterans for their service with a discount. My husband and I truly appreciate that. I had a water leak in my home somewhere at Huntsville utilities come out check and they cannot find the leak but said there was a lake so I contacted Blake brothers an appointment for them to come out come out and looked at the said yes definitely you have a leak. Tell me what I needed to do then I needed to have all my plumbing rerouted put up in the ceiling and give me a price of $10,000.. do not suggest that I have a leak specialist come out to locate the lake but just tell me what I needed to do so I don't feel really good about that so I chose to call someone out here to find my leak and my leak was found, but if I would've listened to Blake Brothers and have my plumbing redone rerouted put up into my attic, I would've still had the leak. people being so untrustworthy because we don't know as a I chose to have my son dig it up. Found the lake repaired the lake. It was not under my slab as I was towed prior that it possibly was. I'm wound up only spending $400. so in saying all this, I'm very disappointed not suggesting what I needed to do because as a customer how do we know and I am a single woman 70 years old, but thank God I've got a good mind so I suggest before you go and listen to someone and spend that kind of money and it not repair the problem that you check around. Or if the leak cannot be found, then I suggest you contact a leak specialist to come to your home and locate where your leak is at before you spend that kind of money. I would never refer them to anyone. I feel like that I was advantage of by not telling me other options. And I saved myself $9600. Expensive Fish-tape! So not worth it for my permanent home in ALABAMA! Let me begin by stating what a fish-tape is: Fish tape is a tool used by electricians primarily for pulling electrical or other wires through conduits. It's also used for pulling NM wire through walls, ceilings, floors, and other enclosed spaces. The fish tape itself is a long, stiff, flat steel wire. For a stated 3.0 hrs. of total work and $452.00 paid to Blake Brothers, all I received was my own cable cut with neither end made up routed through an existing hole through the wood stud in the wall that I was not able to get my tape through initially. I am not displeased with the technicians work as they did fine. The problem is the exorbitant cost for the service that was performed. Initially, they quoted me over $734.00 for 3.5 hours' worth of labor and a new route with new holes to be cut in roughly 1.5- 2" of header beam. Upon completion of the job, I spoke with Franco (elec. Technician), and he stated that the job was much EASIER than initially quoted as they utilized the very same wire route and hole in the stud wall because they were successful in getting their fish tape through it! This was the very same chase or hole that I gave up on. In summary, they expended just enough effort to not cut any new openings or run new cable routes, they utilized the same route because they were successful in getting their fish tape through an existing opening, they utilized a cable I provided and tested it, but they did not make up either end of the cable and the wall outlet is still not assembled because Blake brothers technicians do not make up the ends. All that for the price above. I tried contacting Blake Brothers Management and left a message for Blake brothers to contact me with both Franco and Whitney (separate days). Whitney explained to me that Steve (MGR) was in a meeting with Franco this morning discussing "things" and would leave a message with Steve Saltsman to contact me back. Well, as of this writing, I have yet to receive any contact back from Blake Brothers. You know that if I could give a rating of ZERO stars, that is what it would be for the unreasonable pricing for services rendered. All that circumvents any positive ratings I would have to give to the technicians' competence and capability. In Franco's defense, he is not responsible for pricing... he just pushes the COMPANY's objectives. He did say I could discuss the pricing with management... And thus, this is my review of Blake Brothers. I've included a copy of my Blake Brothers Invoice as proof for the exorbitant money I paid for services rendered and hoping you folks will not be DUPED into making a similar mistake with this company. I purchased a terrible old house that needed a ton of work, Blake Brothers has already come in and replaced all my old cast iron plumbing, hvac unit, and all my ducting. Not only were they fast (replaced all my plumbing in under three days) they are efficient, I went through my crawlspace and checked their work everything looks great. Additionally I had them come back out move my sink drain during a kitchen renovation, they took one look at it and said "we should've changed this when we were here the first time" and covered it under warranty. They may not be the cheapest but the quality of work they do is first rate and worth it! read more
