If you are researching the boat club you will see the claims they make about nice fleets, availability, and fun. And guess what? They are ALL TRUE. (When was the last time you got everything you were promised from a business? It's rare people.) We enjoy having a fun, exciting boat every weekend (and during the week too!), it's so nice to not be pigeonholed into one type of boat. Pontoon this week? Sure. Wakeboard and surf next week? Sounds like a plan. And all the toys are included, top of the line surfboards, wakeboards, tubes, you name it. Just keep up with your reservations and you will always get what you want. We have never been lacking a boat when we wanted one. The fleet is very well maintained and the boats are really nice; Mastrcraft, Tige, Supra, etc. The staff is amazing, they are so nice in the office and on the docks! So helpful, patient, and kind. If you enjoy trailering a boat to the crowded boat ramp, putting it in, hoping it starts, leaving early because you need to get it back on the trailer, etc then this isn't for you. If you like to just show up and go, never worrying about maintenance or unscheduled repairs and expenses, then run, don't walk, to the boat club. I have spent 40 straight hours fishing from a small Polarcraft boat on Bay Springs. Fishing for cat…read morewith night crawlers at night and changing to lures for Bass during the day. This is a clean water way. The marina has 150 wet slips ranging from 20'-150' and are mostly covered, with 30 amp and 50 amp electrical services and Cable TV. They have pontoon rentals for $325.00 a day. The marina office and store are located at the fuel dock for all boaters interested in marine supplies, snack items, and Amaco fuel. Bay Springs puts on a wonderful fireworks show every July. My husband, a friend and I would join hundreds of other boats on the lake to watch the fireworks reflect over the water. If you position just right the light from the fireworks will illuminate the highway crossing the lake that is packed with bumper to bumper traffic stopped to watch the show. The real struggle is getting back to the truck in less than two hours due to waterway traffic. We just stayed put until traffic cleared and then leisurely boated back to land.

The bathroom was updated with more modern equipment. The kitchen of course is small, but still great for preparing a meal. We enjoyed the charcoal grill and the Adirondack rocking chairs. The trails are nice. The lake is quite charming. The only downside is the amount of goose poop near the beach area and leading to the walkway across the water. It would be great to put some sort of goose deterrent or power wash the sidewalks on a regular basis in order to fix this issue. The check in process was quick and easy and the rangers were helpful. It is nice being off the grid. The Wi-Fi is very weak in the cabins, but we actually appreciated that because technology shouldn't be the focus of your weekend away from home.

Do watch out for geese/duck poo as it is everywhere around the pond. Small price to pay for the opportunity to come face to face with a mama duck and her little ducklings. Dragonflies will fly right on up to your nose and turtles will wink at you from their log perches in the pond. Parking is free and there are bikes for rent, too. Great place to get exercise, fresh air and relaxation.
