My 1998 Jeep needs the old coolant--the "green stuff"--because the metals used in the engine construction do not interact well with the new, universal coolants. I totally forgot to mention this to Denny when I dropped off the Jeep, but when I called him mid-repair to mention it, he responded, "Yep. We've run into that before, and we were aware of it. We're using the older formula coolant for this engine." He didn't try to upsell me a number of unnecessary services, and he was happy to talk to me about the two things his mechanic had noticed without pushing me to order additional work.
