I find the view of the two towers (the red and white ones, I think they're from a power plant or something) very cute (as in, the 'ugly but intriguing' definition, not the 'ahh so gorgeous' definition). If you ever doubted that people in Dublin like dogs, just spend an afternoon at Sandymount Strand. A whole pet shop worth of dogs will pass you by in about 10 minutes. Lovely for a stroll, and great for watching storms roll in.

I came here on a beautiful summer's day when the Irish sun was in full force. When the weather is good, the beach is the perfect place to relax and get a tan. Another fun activity is beachcombing. There are beautiful seashells to collect. I even found a few crabs and oysters too. The place was virtually empty, save a wind surfer or two so privacy is not an issue here. The water is relatively clean as well. This beach was one of the very few ones that got a blue flag, meaning that the water quality is good and safe to swim in.

Now there's grey sand full of rocks and shattered shells that stings your bare feet. Then, tide was low and in order to swim at the sea, it required a bit of jogging forth and back and even at the water you'll need to go far far further for a proper depth for swimming.

I walked here all the way from the hotel I was staying at - Hotel Clayton. The walk was quite nice, the park is located near some quaint neighborhoods. There are several entrances to the park so it isn't hard to miss. The park goes across streets so you have to cross certain parts of the park in order to fully see the WHOLE PARK. They have a bunch of flower beds that are really pretty as you walk thru the park. There is a little pond area where swans populate - I saw a couple people feeding them but I now know that isn't the best thing. So just FYI; it doesn't help them if you feed them. Even during a weekday - the park had a lot more people than I thought it would. And it was a gloomy day too - but let's face it - it's Ireland, it's gloomy sometime during the day everyday. lol. All in all - a great park!

Still a fan of the all weather courts chiefly because the space is surrounded by fencing so I don't have to run after any stray shots... I'm not the Maradona I once was... Your feet can take you a few miles or kilometres in either direction, coasting along aimlessly upon the grains of sand. If you walk far enough you can even begin to feel like Tom Hanks did in the movie Castaway. Its a very tranquil place, with beautiful scenery to boot. If your dog cannot be trusted off the lead then my advice would be to keep him/her on it - there are loads of sand dunes for little Fido, Max, Snoopy ( insert your dogs name HERE) to go missing in... You will also look like an absolute goon running awkwardly, screaming your dogs name at the top of your lungs. whilst they ignore you and keep running. Running up that hill... The parking is free along the road but be sure not to park up at the roundabout unless you have a valid disabled parking permit. I believe the fines are €125 euro from the Guards now. Enough to cripple anyones month and leave your wallet a bit lame. You have been warned!

Dollymount was the place to make Dublin childhood memories (so I've been told). Every summer "back…read morein the day" the long sandy stretch was packed with kids, dogs at the surf, and cars parked along the beach to act as a breaker for that incessant wind. Queues of cars lined the Clontarf road waiting to get across the single lane wooden bridge (still do!). It's still a lovely spot for an afternoon walk, just be sure to be off the sand by dusk unless you're a local or part of a crowd. During the day the strand is a haven for kite surfers, dog walkers (check the surf for spring-loaded retrievers bounding along the breakers in utter doggy delight) and photogs -in the evenings however an entirely different element takes over, their detritus liable to be found underfoot the next day in the form of used needles and assorted garbage. Translation: wear shoes.

Sometimes when I really want to shake things up I go and join the local druggies and alcoholics in the park to discuss the deeper philosophical quandaries and questions like when the fridge door closes does the light go out. A few of them having recently slept in a fridge were able to confirm that yes, the light does go out. ..er... yeah, deffo only to be explored during daylight hours.

( -1 star ) I guess, based on some of the other Yelper's comments, that it's a place for some of the "less desirables" to hang out ... tell them not to litter!!! :-) The view of the Irish Sea from the South East part of the park is totally nice though. It was the world's longest sea-wall at the time of its building and still remains one of the longest in Europe." what a great walk! its never too crowded because other people are walking along the beach. the surface is a bit uneven so you definitely need to wear runners, no fancy high heels here! What i love about this place, being a south sider i always have one perspective of Dublin city and this gives a totally new view. it is breathtaking really.

The views both left and right are nice. While the lighthouse at the end of the wall is nice to inspect on your first visit. The bird life is good too, if you are a bit of a twitcher. And the great big boats coming and going are something to watch as you make your way there and back. The only reason I don't give it five stars is because the ground can be quite uneven. So be careful if you are not sturdy on your feet or have a dodgy knee like me.

You get great views of Dublin , Dublin Mountains and you can see Bray Head on a clear day. Amazing place for running , walking and cycling.. Great restaurants, pubs and stores also in the vicinity of the promenade. Be sure to visit Veron Avenue and walk out to Bull Island. This promenade rates 5 stars and more. You definitely won't be disappointed. It should be noted I am from Washington DC and served with the United States Marines all over the World and traveled all over the United States of America. I definitely know a great promenade from all my travels and life experiences

It's completely free and you can't help but feel better about the world afterwards. This is a fantastic running spot-it's flat, scenic, safe....and even more importantly-you get to run on grass. Pavement running can be tough on sensitive souls like me and it can be a struggle to find nice shock absorbing grass without ending up in a field full of cows and their excrement. Generations (probably) of runners have worn a little path into the grass all along the promenade so that it's both easy to run on and free of ankle-twisting potential. Just walking along is one of my favourite pastimes too. On a sunny weekend the place is buzzing with families, buggies, couples, walkers, runners, men with flags, picnickers....but doesn't seem crowded. The excellent cycle lane which extends to Howth means that there is no danger of being mown down. Benches and shelters along the route make it easy to stop and soak up the view. I love the weird yellow and orange exercise things. I plan on making use of them some day....when nobody is around to see! A stroll out to Bull Island is invigorating and it's very difficult to believe that you're still in Dublin out there. The only problem is having to come back over the bridge and back to reality :-(

Needless to say, I'm not a fan. Yes, it's handy because it's on the DART line, but so are Killiney and Malahide, and they're in another league altogether. Seapoint's like the ugly one that tries desperately to fit in with the others, but just can't, no matter how hard they try. Oh, and it lost their blue flag, which was it's single redeeming feature. However, it's a popular bathing spot, and there are crazy diehards who swim here every day. Mad altogether, but Seapoint's actually OK if you are swimming as opposed to paddling. So I'm told anyway...why you would swim in Irish waters is beyond me.
