They sell items for pennies on the dollar including valuable antiques - examples: an antique desk currently selling on eBay for over $2700 was sold for $65 and an antique cedar closet sold for $1 and was charged a $5 commission. Most items, including antiques, were sold for $1 and I was charged a $5 commission for a net cost to me of $4. They also charged $5 each for unsold items - the dump only charges $30 for a truckload. I would have been much further ahead financially if I sold my small farm tractor, with loader, back blade, and snow blower to the dealer, donated all household items, and taken the rest to the dump. They also sent my reconciliation and check to an address other than the mailing address I provided to them so I did not receive them for months after the auction and they never returned my follow-up phone calls or responded to my emails. It was a total rip off.

I've sold items through auctions before and my family has a long history in antiques and art, so I know the number of good quality items that I had. There was ruby glass, depression glass, pieces of Hall and McCoy, plus many professionally framed original paintings and more. My items should have easily sold for much, much more. I am also extremely upset that they grouped some of the original paintings together, and did not sell them off individually. My results from them selling more than 7 boxes of antiques and collectibles, more than 5 large framed original paintings, numerous other framed pieces of art, a box of embroidered antique linens, a vintage American flag, a small handcrafted wooden bench and more came to a total of only $69. Never in my worst nightmare could I have imagined results this horrible. I wish other sellers had posted their results from selling at this auction, as I would never have considered it if I had known this horrible of an outcome might be possible. Writing this as a warning to anyone else considering selling estate items at this auction. We were informed that the crew would bring all items up from the basement, in which that didn't happen. We were told the crew would clean up the tractors before sale, that didn't happen. There was a lot of things this company will promise you that they will not do. The way this happened brought a family closer and not in the best way. We also had to do clean up after every one left! When the auction was said and done, I had never seen any one pack up and leave as fast as they did. Also, we aren't supposed to have to wait around until 9 pm for people to get everything that was purchased and help them load these things onto their vehicles and trailors, or even the next day! It says on the flyer that it should be settled and removed that day, and some one from the company should be there to monitor that! Be wary please, especially when you are doing this for a loved ones benefit! My advice: if you are currently dealing with him, back out now. Do not deal with Marty Wegner and Wegner Auctioneers!
