In the last 10 years, OU has been the pioneer for Cannabis education in California and the forefront of a powerful movement with the legalization of cannabis. I cannot believe how many successful and knowledgeable professionals today that started at Oaksterdam. I love everything they stand for and definitely recommend above any educational institution to gain your medical plant experience here. They are completely hands on and have the best teachers who have such extensive backgrounds. They've been around a long while and in that time the biggest names were produced from their curriculum. We all are witnessing a phenomenon before our eyes with this industry. I believe there is so much good coming out of this movement and OU is there every step of the way. I still have the original OU baseball shirt from almost ten years ago. So proud of everything they've accomplished. Richard Lee, you're the huMAN.

I spent my first two years at Berkeley and then transferred to UC Santa Cruz for a more personal…read moreexperience. At that time, Santa Cruz was the most selective campus in the UC system. Although I liked Santa Cruz better, I still value my UC Berkeley experience. There was no handholding at Berkeley. It was sink or swim for undergraduates. Classes were graded on the curve and very few As and Bs were given. Most professors seemed to resent having to teach undergraduates, and much of the teaching was conducted by graduate student teaching assistants who themselves had little interest in teaching or ability to teach. The undergraduate students who did best were the transfers from community colleges where professors who cared about teaching prepared their students for upper division classes at Berkeley. Another noteworthy thing about Berkeley - and probably most prestigious universities at that time - was the eccentricity of the professors. Many were unpleasant and not well rounded or interesting in their own right. They were specialists in their fields but not broadly educated. Then there was the bureaucracy that one had to deal with. Probably the most valuable skill I learned was dealing with difficult people and cutting through red tape. The second most valuable skill was living in a community where there was no protective barrier separating the students from the less reputable sorts of people. All that being said, there was a vitality and intellectual flavor to Berkeley that I found lacking when I visited Harvard and Stanford. Berkeley had more of the feel and look of a university in Europe in which student life is not separated from ordinary life. I finally found the key to unlocking Berkeley's excellence when I picked up a student guide to professors and classes. Instead of selecting subjects and classes, I selected highly rated professors. As a result, one of the last classes I took was a class on Dostoevsky taught by a Polish Nobel Prize winner.

This review is for the EKG Technician Continuing Education course, Fall 2025, Concord Campus…read more The EKG Technician course is supposed to be an 11.5-week, 60-hour in-person program with instruction and hands-on lab experience, but the reality has been far from what was advertised, and instead a huge disappointment and waste of time. The start of class was delayed a week with no reason and no proactive communication about logistics - I had to reach out the first day of instruction just to find out which classroom to go to and who the instructor would be. Since then, multiple class sessions were canceled or ended early, and we had only about five hours of actual classroom time instead of the nearly 28 hours we should have had by the end of week 4 (minus four canceled classes). The content itself was very disappointing - mostly reading slides (which were a recap of the textbook) and watching YouTube videos with very limited access to equipment or lab practice (which seemed to be an administrative issue). There was no effort to make up missed time, and it's hard to see how students would reach the advertised 60 hours of instruction, let alone pass the course or pass state certification. The instructor appeared to have good intentions, but it seems this last-minute staffing decision left everyone unprepared, including the instructor themself. Attempts to contact Continuing Education for help went unanswered, which is incredibly frustrating for those of us who paid full fees (over $1,600) and commute long distances to attend. To make matters worse, the Concord campus at that time had poor (no) lighting on the walkway from the parking lot, which is definitely a safety concern for evening classes. Overall, this experience has been unprofessional and discouraging. CSU East Bay Continuing Education really needs to address the lack of communication, instructional quality, equipment availability, and basic campus safety before continuing to offer it. BTW, check your local community college instead if similar courses are offered, it will be A LOT cheaper ($46/unit for Cali residents)!

It's next to a state park or in the middle of it. So, I came here because I thought it was closer. When I was in grad school before, there was a campus in Walnut Creek. It was in the middle of downtown and was quite easily accessible. But this place isn't. And if there is traffic (and there was) look out! I am glad that I don't have to come here regularly because I'd have to get out of work a good two hours before class to get there on time and then drive all of the way home after class. They aren't open on Friday or Saturdays. But I was able to pick up my books. I was going to look for some school swag but they didn't really have any. In the future, I will have my books sent to me to avoid having to come all of the way out here to pick up two books.

I even wrote an essay for their HDEV program showing my seriousness and excitement for the opportunity to attend one of the only online psychology-related degrees I could find in the entire Cal State system of universities... Additionally, this happened after corresponding with Marc Strong in the Veterans department for weeks regarding my eligibility, my credits, etc.... Only to have the assistant director of transfers for veterans (I am a veteran) (for whatever insane reason she thought purposeful) DELETE my application in the system, completing clean-swiping ALL OF MY DATA AND WEEKS UPON WEEKS OF HARD WORK, because one of my schools apparently failed to send my transcripts for many weeks (even not answering her email request nearly a month after I paid to have them released, which according to them they DID send them). I received ZERO correspondence regarding them deleting my application altogether and today have been told I must fill out another application and pay another fee. NO THANKS! How is this the student's fault??? Why are we punished by you deleting our information and making us reapply and re-pay the exorbitant fee students could barely afford in the first place?? The least they could've done was refund my fee. This had nothing to do with me or my application. I sent confirmations the DAY I paid for ALL of my transcripts to be sent to Cal EastBay. They had a month. I literally filled out my application the day the application opened up, then paid for all my transcripts the next day, along with the fee. This seems very very crooked to me, the way that they do things. It's very much a transaction that makes little sense. The least they could've done was denied my application and left it in the system to reuse that information for the future... forget about the fact that I am now unemployed and seriously struggling financially to pay another application fee by the deadline of March 3 (not going to happen). What kind of school does this to a student? Doesn't look like they do care for the well being of the students, we are just another fee and administration process for them. Save yourself the heartache and apply to another Cal School that gives a damn. (and judging by Rizam's review a week ago, I'd say I did avoid more drama). NEXT!

I honestly said I didn't see the signs, and with an attitude he said there are 10 signs. Where I parked, none of the signs were near me. The nearest sign was about 25-30 yards away. My kids and I also walked to the main gym where they played their games before, and once again I was met by the head of parking. He aggressively told my boys they shouldn't be opening random doors looking for their games. I asked him, did I miss the signs again because this is where they played last time. He said no and said the games were in a different building. I said, to help everyone, signs would be helpful, this way he wouldn't be irritated telling other parents to look for the other gym. We walked over to building 2900 like he told us too, and he yelled at me, my sons and other parents from across the swimming pool, telling us we were using the wrong door. It could have helped if he told us where to go. The door we tried opening was directly under the 2900 sign. I yelled back at him saying we are at building 2900 like he instructed. He replied back we needed to walk around the building. When we finally found the entrance it was 2940. I found this gentleman, very rude and aggressive with his approach. I am not sure if this is how Chabot wants to be represented to people in the community visiting. if any staff member is reading this, the gentleman I am talking about is a large heavy set African American who identifies himself as the head of parking and he drives a gray Infiniti SUV. Even if he is not part of Chabot College, simply being on campus and introducing himself as someone in an authority position makes it seem he works for the college.
