I would give this school 0 stars if I could. One of the biggest issues is the complete lack of transparency and support. Our cohort was repeatedly assured that major changes to the testing format would not affect us. However, just two days before an assessment, we were informed that the new format would, in fact, be implemented. This directly contradicted what students had been told throughout the program. Since these changes were introduced, students have repeatedly requested additional support, such as NGN workshops, remediation sessions, practice assessments, and guidance on how to approach the new testing style. Those requests have largely gone unanswered. As a result, many students who were previously successful are now struggling, and a significant portion of our class is failing during the final term. To make matters worse, students are often tested on material that is not adequately covered in assigned resources, lectures, ATI content, or course instructions. Rather than providing the tools needed for success, the program seems more focused on pushing students through while collecting tuition payments. Nursing school is supposed to be challenging, but it should also be organized, transparent, and supportive. Unfortunately, that has not been my experience here. If you're considering this program, be prepared for constant changes, poor communication, and a lack of meaningful support when students raise legitimate concerns. read more

Please don't go to Unitek. The LVN program itself costs about $42,000 but they are not transparent about the loan interest rates which range from around 17 to 19%. By the end you're looking at a loan amount of $42,021 turning into over $134,000 in total payments with more than $92,000 just in interest. It honestly doesn't feel worth it. On top of that they don't accept any outside prerequisites so you're required to take them through the school which costs an additional $1,700. They also don't accept scholarships only loans and they don't offer in house payment plans either. In the end you end up paying more in interest than the actual cost of the program. read more

Edited. To all veterans and service members, The BSN program at Unitek is not considered a full-time program in the eyes of the VA. You will only receive the appropriate amount of BAH according to the credits per term/semester. It is mostly 3/4 of the monthly BAH. Plan your finances accordingly if you proceed with their program. You will receive full BAH while you are enrolled in their LVN program. This may make you assume it would be the same, but it is not. If you want to commit to becoming a nurse and applying for a commissioned officer in the future, go straight into your BSN program and avoid LVN. It will save you time. read more

I had the worst admission advisor, Valencia Gomez. I'm not sure if it's worth taking the exam. The whole time she was talking to me felt like transactional and I feel undervalued as a possible incoming student. She was trying to forced me into something that I'm interested and got so upset to where at a point it felt like retaliating and so unprofessional. She explained the program like I didn't get although I pointed out I wasn't interested in doing the LVN route and interested in the BSN program. She told me the program doesn't start until later November of this year and I have to take the exam within the next 24 hours after the info session we just had without even asking me if I am able to do it or I'm available to do so. If this kind of person represents the college for admission I wonder what the whole institution looks like because I do not ever want someone to talk to me like that. She could have been more advising rather than telling me to do and be rude after politely declining what she just suggested and not be butt hurt about it. read more

Unitek College is a scam. Do not go here at all. At first I wanted to apply to their BSN program and they vehemently told me that I should apply for their LVN program instead as that would guarantee me a spot in their BSN bridge program instead of being put on a waitlist since I'm not an alumni and alumni gets "priority seating." Numerous admissions representatives told me and my father this. That is the ONLY reason I applied to the LVN program. I graduated the LVN program and then when the day came to apply for the BSN program they told me that there's no such thing and that they can't guarantee spots to anyone. I wasted 36k on a useless program I didn't need and I could've gotten my BSN degree sooner at another program that's actually worth its salt. They also claim to be an accelerated BSN program and that again isn't true. Their program is 25 months. That's not considered an accelerated program. I tried contacting the BSN program director Debie to pull up my call logs since all their calls are recorded to prove that that's what was promised to me and she never got back to me. Very shady and unprofessional. Do not give your money to this school. They are all scammers and liars. read more

I had an appointment with Ms. Valencia Gomez about the VN program at Fremont. She is overcharging me she wants me to pay $150 for registration and a thousand dollars plus for the pre requisite. And then she also said that even if finished the pre-requisite classes It's not a guarantee that I will be accepted at the VN program. This is a waste of time and money. I also asked Valencia Gomez if they give credits for all the classes I already took and she said that it should be 5 years before they give credit. They are trying to make money. Here I am 8 years later . I graduated their bridge program. I did not go for their BSN program as I was planning to go to a university which it will also offer Master and beyond . I have worked at Stanford and held nursing job and management. I have worked in Sutter and loved it and now I am working in Kaiser as a manager. I support my staff who want to go back to school and most of them are going to Unitek. I received my BSN in nursing and public health nursing from university of Phoenix. The office she was assigned to do her internship let her finish 120 hours only to tell her she failed was not given any credit towards any of those hours . The office is called Center of dermatology in Fremont She completed the course with the exception of her internship.. My experience was OK at best. This school is about money and wanting to look good. My cohort had like 18 different teachers throughout our 11 month LPN program and most of them were NOT good. The material they provided was hard to understand (and old - 1 teacher had a slideshow from 2008, update your information!). Teachers spent too much time arguing with students, knit-picky about the dumbest things, lack of support and good material to learn off of. It's basically a self-taught program which makes it difficult when it comes to the tests/exams. My cohort has now passed the exit and is graduated. Even though our $200 voucher for scheduling our NCLEX is INCLUDED in our tuition, they made everyone wait until they took a (NON-REQUIRED) NCLEX class to get their voucher. How stupid is that? Immediately after passing the exit, every student should have been sent their voucher. WE'VE PAID FOR IT ALREADY AND GRADUATED. Students should not have to be arguing with Mrs. Millicent and Mrs. Kim through email about receiving their vouchers to schedule their NCLEX. It's a total waste of time given some people have jobs lined up once they pass their NCLEX and this delaying that. This experience was stressful more than anything. I've been in healthcare for 11 years prior to this program and coming out of it, I'm now thinking that I may want to switch careers. This LPN program just didn't do it for me. Unitek is not it - I would wait to get into a community college, save your time and money and get yourself a quality education that you'll be proud of. The two people I do want to thank is Hanaa Baker and Amandeep Kaur. Hanaa was on top of my financial aid. She kept in contact with me ALL THE TIME. If I had any questions or concerns she was extremely patient and responsive to them. I really do appreciate that - she's great! Also, Amandeep is probably the only teacher that I felt showed 100% interest in her students really grasping the knowledge. She knows what she's teaching and she's very clear about it. I appreciated her pre-req class and any chance we got to learn from her throughout the program. Overall, I'm disappointed with this school and how they treat their students. For how much money they charge per program, you'd expect top of the line teaching and care for their future nurses but you won't get that here. This college is an absolute scam! I specifically was interested in their generic BSN program because it's accelerated and they make it known when applying that they will accommodate you if you work full time. This was NOT the case Theresa, my admissions lady, pretty much coerced me to look into the LVN to BSN path as it is "more fitting" for my schedule. She proceeded to berate me about whether or not I would even prioritize school since I love my current job so much(I work in the operating room). She asked me what I see myself doing in 5 years and I told her nursing full time and hopefully still doing my current job part time or per diem somewhere else. She follows up with,"Really? You REALLY like your job THAT much?". How condescending is that! I asked to switch admission reps after that. Had a much more pleasant time with Roya but really putting some thought into this and I honestly think this entire program is the biggest scam I have ever seen. 36 month program claims to be accelerated(that is NOT accelerated! Might as well go to UNI at that point). INSANELY priced program. It's currently at about $152k dollars. There are SO many nuisance fees, the craziest one being a $150 registration fee? For what, to put my name into their system? No thanks, you guys are already charging me a kidney for this program, you guys can cover the administrative fees. I was talking to a coworker who was interested in this program 5 years ago and she told me that it was only $92k when she was looking into it! Up $60k in only 5 years? Ten students in a cohort and they make 1.5 million yet they can't cover the $150 administrative fee to put my name into their system.. Like what is that. I recommend getting your pre-requisites done at a community college and then go to an ACTUAL accelerated program. There are 1-2 year programs out there for only $50k!! Not a single person replied to my email anymore. I already submitted all the documents that they asked for, such as the credit-granting request form (even though I finished all the prerequisite classes for BSN, they recommended I retake some classes at Unitek again, and I don't mind at all. She even told me the classes will start in December) two-letter of recommendations, and even already took an assessment test. However, after all those processes, the advisor who was helping me disappeared even though I sent her a follow-up email so many times. After two months later, an advisor from the concord campus contacted me to apply there. I explained him the situation so he called the Fremont campus to transfer the information over but after he knew that I already took all the prerequisite classes, he disappeared again. I am former student and although the school was not bad, I would not continue my education here due to Amparo Hernandez. She made the admissions process the most difficult thing possible. For somebody who works in admissions, it seems like she really does not want anyone admitted to this school. It seems like an inconvenience for her to do her job and she belittled me for every question I asked. If you end stuck with her as your admissions officers, I would advise to ask for someone else. I had the fortunate opportunity to have Ken Gardner as my advisor. He is thoughtful, thorough and simply a delight to work with. He assisted me with the admissions process for the LVN program and was always there to offer support throughout the program at Unitek. Ken was a great coach and continued to check-in when we stated remote learning during the pandemic. I still continue to rely on him when needed, and he is always there. Mr. Alex Santos, our lead instructor, made the class enjoyable and offered continued support throughout the course. He was a great instructor for both the clinical and theory. He ensured that all students got the hands-on experience with various skills while we were at clinical sites. He is fair, patient, funny and supportive. Ms. Maria Villaluz was our clinical and theory instructor. She provided so many mnemonics. Initially, I was overwhelmed by her lectures because she provided of the mnemonics - but I realized that this is what helped me pass the NCLEX. She is an excellent coach and gave us support and I succeeded. Ms. Lornise was one of our clinical instructors. She is very patient and nurturing when we were at clinical sites. Patients we were working with would light up when they saw Ms. Lornise demonstrating how to assess a patient or performing a skills. I enrolled at Unitek Fremont 2 years ago for the evening full time class. This was nerve-wracking to me because the last time I was in school was in 1989! and yes, I was the oldest one in my class :0 This was the only school that fitted into my schedule since I work full time everyday Monday thru Friday 8:00am-5:00pm. At first I was adamant to enroll in this school because of the bad reviews. If you go to their website and put in your phone number, they will call you within SECONDS! which is kind of suspicious to me. But I would say, THAT phone call was the start of my journey thru getting my LVN license! I was lucky to meet my counselor Ronald David, he is very nice, warm and of course encouraging. I expressed my doubts about the school but he explained to me in a reasonable way why ppl would put in a bad reviews. I started my pre-requisite in March 2018, a 14-day program for 3k! Then started the PN program 6 months later for 34k! With these tuition fees, there's no joking around, you have to commit 1000%! Dr. Joyce was our instructor for pre-requisite and A&P and Pharmacology, she is "The Best" instructor ever! A true "GEM" in Unitek! Dr. Joyce is funny, precise and really knowledgeable of her stuff. Because of her, I felt that Unitek is really legit. Thank you Dr. Joyce! We went through more than 10 nurse instructors for the whole program, there were a few who are not made to be teachers but there were some who came to class prepared for lectures which I really appreciated. Shout out to Ms. Vicky Benavides, Ms. Inna, Ms. Belimac, Mr. Santiago, Ms. Lauren, Ms. Armie Tancinco and Ms. Criselda Imperio. These nurse instructors made me feel that they actually wanted us students to learn and be successful and not just what students usually say "Unitek just want our money, they don't care about their students". And of course, I can't forget Ms. Rachel Doroski from Professional Development, which was the last class before graduation. She prepared us for mock interview, resume/cover letter and unending job searches even after graduation. She is pretty, comforting and smart. Such a breath of fresh! This VN program is not for everybody, but if you are really serious in becoming an LVN/LPN, this IS the only way to get it in a fairly short period of time. Be prepared for hours of sleepless nights, constant stress and anxiety, no more time for partying, outings, YouTubing, and facebooking. The only thing you'll be doing is eating and sleeping with your books. Lol! This program really works if you put your heart and soul in it, and yes, Unitek is not perfect, there were lots of drama in the class, complaints of schedule, hours etc, but understand that no schools are perfect and instead of dwelling with the imperfections, focus and appreciate the positive things that the school is offering, go with the flow, prioritized the reason why you enrolled in that school in the first place? My main goal was to get that License... "EYES ON THE PRIZE". With intensive hard work, I finally passed my NCLEX few days ago and the feeling was UNBELIEVABLE! So, here I am, a recent graduate from Unitek's LVN - RN bridge. RN3- July 2019 This course is expensive. SO EXPENSIVE! If you want to save money don't come here. AND they don't even have the ADN (shorter and cheaper program) they only have the BSN program now, which isn't horrible, I mean you will have your BSN (NOT REGIONALLY ACCREDITATION, BUT IT IS CCNE ACCREDITED) but its longer by a few months. IDK the details. How expensive was the LVN to RN, ADN? I qualified for some financial aid, some government loans and still had to take out like 33K loans. Also, there was a 4 week transition course that was not covered by financial aid and was like $3500!!!! (which if you ask me was completely unnecessary, the only GEM in this course is having Mr. Paylago as an instructor who is GREAT!!!!) It was a long journey to RN. It as hard. There were some teachers who COMPLETELY SUCKED! These teachers READ THE POWERPOINT TO YOU AS IF YOU COULD NOT READ THEM YOURSELF! Then when something THEY CHOOSE TO BE ON THE TEST pops up, you try to fight it like "WE DIDN'T TALK ABOUT THIS!" and they will just say to you "BUT IT IS IN THE BOOK!" you mean the freaking 10 chapters I had to read in 6 days???!!!! then sometimes they give lectures and TELL YOU THE WRONG INFORMATION and you take the test and get the question wrong and they're just like "oh my bad." There were some who completely radiate with passion for their specialty. OB and PEDS instructors are amazing. So much love and care for their specialties. They want you to know the important things and these things WILL pop up on NCLEX! Ms Masha, Ms Julie George, Ms Mckinnon, Ms Purl, Ms Kaur, Ms Victoria, all amazing instructors who push for knowledge and experience. Mental health. It seems like they only hire PEOPLE WITH MENTAL ISSUES to teach mental health. But I guess the only thing you take away from mental health is that SUICIDE RISKS REQUIRES 1-on-1 watch (lol) and that WE ARE ALL A LITTLE BIT MENTALLY UNSTABLE! also prepare to do taichi all day everyday yall. Medsurg is hard. and crazy and long. and has a huge turnover rate for instructors. Dr. Dyer has been known to MAKE STUDENTS CRY AT CLINICALS!!! but she is actually a great theory teacher. She is stern but she wants you to KNOW your STUFF!! she was a great leadership instructor. Dr Brumley is her own category of dislike. There isn't a single student who has not grown a small special bit of hatred towards her. I'm sure outside in the real world she is a likable person. but teaching is not for her. Good teachers make connections with their students, push for their success, ensure they have a set foundations for what is to come in the nursing world. Career services is helpful. Sadie was very helpful in student services (she's not there anymore) Overall, decent program, like any private technical school it is not without flaws and bumps and problems. You know what though. regardless of everything. I'm here. Passed my nclex 38 days after graduating from unitek, computer stopped at 75 questions. If I can do it, so can you. Five stars for Rachel Doroski in career services. Rachel helped me put together an awesome resume and cover letter. I was able to hit the ground running applying for new grad positions before I graduated! Rachel also gives a great mock interview which includes practicing those tough interview questions and working out the nerves! Terrible experience. I have had numerous people tell me that I should stay away and save my money, and I should have listened. I have reached out to multiple people with questions that I had, and help that I needed, and received no help at all. I have been given last minute alerts and spammed emails telling me things almost every colleague at orientation ALSO were not informed of, and the second we reach out for help we get no response. They continuously say they want to see us achieve but give us not support. To whoever decides to respond with this with a "thank you for your review" provide your students a space for growth first. read more

Going to Unitek College was one of the best decisions I have ever made. The staff here were so helpful. Ms. Catherine is one of the best teacher's I have ever had. Her teachings and experience helped me a lot when it came to understanding the work and being successful at my externship. She pushed me to work hard, and I will forever be grateful for her. She truly is an amazing teacher and overall an amazing person. Ivett from career services is amazing! Her tools and tips for interviews are so informative and helpful. I just recently graduated from the BSN program at Unitek Fremont. 2 months before I graduated, I already started looking for potential RN jobs. I knew that Career Services offered help for students with not only resumes, but also finding the right job that fits their personality. I reached out to them and Rachel and Courtney have been my guardian angels ever since. They have helped me work on my resume, cover letter, and assisted me in proofreading my application for a New Grad Program. They have gone above and beyond for me as a student and I just can't say enough good things about them. Completed the online RN to BSN program... DON'T GO HERE! The school degree isn't regionally accredited so basically I gave my money to them for nothing. Did t learn anything from the BSN program and now I'm stuck with school loans and a BSN degree that's fake!!!!!!!! read more

BEWARE!!! They lie any which way to get your money. The admissions representatives don't know anything about the programs and will lie to you about everything. Do your own research and be careful where you put your money. They will push you into a program you don't want or elongate your process and schooling so you spend more money and time. I went to unitek for their ADN program. They pushed me into the LVN and told me it would be faster that way and then I can apply directly for the LVN to ADN program. Little did they tell me or any of the other 40+ students that applied that the LVN to ADN was actually a point based system and that they were in the process to drop that program for a LVN to BSN that would take three years to complete. They waisted many students time and resources. But the teachers at this school were true gems. Mr. Pep and Mr.Norman were the best of teachers. And all the teaching staff really worked with us to make sure we did our best as LVNs. If the administration hadn't lied to all of us students I would return to the school and tell everyone to go here but multiple times they have hidden things from us students and left us with unanswered questions. They are rude and refuse to give answers to you once they have your money. read more
