My nonprofit business has been using the Merry Maids as a daily janitorial service for years and I could not be more pleased with the reliability and interaction that we have with them. But, this year, I realized I could not keep up with the house cleaning to the standard my husband and I liked while working as much as I was, and so we decided to use them for biweekly cleanings at home as well. This is somewhat painful for me because I feel like we can't "afford" them and that it's a luxury for other people. But the reality is, I cannot do as good a job as they can in the amount of time they do, and still be as productive at my home office. Are they always RIGHT on time? Nah. Are they always the most personable when we interact, nah (the office staff is, but not always the maids). But you know what, every single time they come through and I come home, and the house smells clean and there are these little details around, it's totally worth it. They seem to find things to clean that I wouldn't think about, they beautify stuff I wouldn't think to. Heck, when they remake our beds, it's always more like a hotel room than anything I could try to do. They're magical. I had a pile of books on my shelf and came home, and they'd artfully arranged them and I was like,"Huh, yeah, I could do that from now on!" They clean my toaster over and microwave, and this time even my tea pot and skillet. There's always a tiny touch here and there that I am like, "Yes, that looks awesome, I can adopt that, too." They vary in what they hit week to week - but if you leave a note and ask for a specific thing done, they'll do it. They can't do EVERYTHING in the hour they have, so they figure out what is most effective and I think that's great. Is my house perfect, no stone left unturned? No, because I'd need two of them there for like five hours thanks to my dogs. :) Aligning your expectations is important. In conclusion, beyond keeping my house something I enjoy coming home to and working in, they teach me. And they're totally reliable with my valuables and such. If it's an ugly pile, they leave it alone. If you have it cleanable, they take care of it. I'm not sure you can be totally psyched on a single visit because, I'll be honest, the start wasn't ideal, but investing in a long term relationship with them is something you won't regret. I think they come to get an idea of how your house is laid out and they start just improving it. I feel like they actually care about what they're doing, and I love that. It makes me feel better about the "splurge." read more

This was the worst cleaning service I have ever experienced. If I could give zero starts, I would. John was very nice on the phone as I scheduled a deep clean for my son's apartment before he moved in. Granted, It was quite dirty and I didn't expect miracles but it appeared as though she ran a vacuum , cleaned the oven and left. The bathroom was clearly never touched, the floor was vacuumed but still visible dirty and not mopped. Window were not cleaned even though I specifically asked. The refrigerator was not cleaned as promised. This was truly shockingly bad cleaning!!! When I called several times to let John know , he never returned my calls. Do not trust this service to do what they promised!!!! I paid $160 (plus I tipped her before I left!) for someone who maybe spent an hour tops vacuuming. I feel like I was lied to and stolen from. Couldn't be less impressed. I'm currently receiving chemotherapy for breast cancer and we were given a gift card to help relieve some stress. What was supposed to be a deep clean of the kitchen and two bathrooms (that weren't that bad to begin with) turned into a nasty job where all they did was spread filth around (they didn't even do the barest minimum of cleaning the inside of the toilet lids) and scratch the few fixtures they actually touched. Thanks for not only wasting our gift but letting strangers spread their germs around our home and adding more work to our life during a time when we really needed the help. I hired merry maids to clean my small two bedroom one bath house. They quoted me 3 hours with two people (or 6 man hours) I Thought 6 hours is a bit ridicules for about 600 square feet, I asked if I could only do an hour and a half (or 3 man hours) and to only focus on vacuuming, the kitchen, and the bathroom. That would mean roughly an hour to clean a small bathroom... And let's just say I am NOT impressed. I will attach photos. They get an extra star for giving me a discount on the cost. They seemed annoyed to give me anything. Not so "merry" that's for sure. I called for a deep cleaning. Quoted $180 for hour and a half. They called a few times with rescheduling which I was flexible about. But then they couldn't send a 3rd person or someone called in sick and at that point, I was so annoyed and wanted to cancel. But then... I came to my senses (I hate cleaning grout!) and called back asking if they could come clean for 1 hour and focus on those things I pointed out with the initial walk-through? Sure they said. Well the crew just left and guess what? I had to finish the job and clean nasty bathroom tile and grout throughout the shower anyway! I was told they had a liquid cleaner that would get the grout looking amazing. Well, they didn't use anything like that because it's still really dirty. The tub looked decent, but the tile was in no way deep cleaned and it turns out, it wasn't cleaned at all. My bathroom is not even big enough for 2 people to stand next to each other, it's a toilet right up against a bathtub. It doesn't take anywhere near a hour to clean, and that's going slow. So when I noticed that it basically wasn't cleaned, I was very upset. I also noticed that the ceiling of the shower and soap dishes weren't even touched (which I specifically asked to be done) and it makes me wonder if it was even wiped down? I was told that no, it was too much to clean in an hour. Why?! I can clean it in less then an hour! To make thinks worse, when I called about the issue they were argumentative with me! At this point, I don't need to discuss what was promised, that is Merry Maids's job. It just wasn't worth the cost and I have had a much better cleaning in less time for less money elsewhere. read more

I have contacted Merry Maids and never heard back. I then started to talk to friends about who they use. Their experiences with Merry maids made me happy that I didnt get a return call. Apparently, the quality of service is inconsistent. You get different people each time, some do a good job and some dont. One person had items stolen! The owner started out courteous and responsive over the phone as I explained my mothers house was in bad shape and needed a lot of deep cleaning. The owner promised two strong men would clean all that we asked in 4 hours and if it took longer, it would be on them. Two nice men did show up and worked hard but took the whole 4 hours, then left. We were busy so when we had time to inspect they only cleaned 1 of the 2 bedrooms, skipped most of the laundry room, didn't do windows or blinds as promised, and baseboards was hit and miss. There were many other things missed as well. Some of the cleaning was good like kitchen and fridge. We paid 500 bucks and they definitely did not finish the job. Fast forward to us trying to get them to call us back after 3 failed attempts to ask them to come back and compete their work. The owner finally called almost 2 weeks later and left a 3 minute message at 6:37 am ranting about how the Biden administration and the "clowns" who voted for him were responsible for him being too busy to get back to us bc he had too many jobs and couldn't hire anyone bc Biden made it too easy to not work. Then he even managed to blame that Biden also allowed the refugees over the border to flood the country, blah blah. I've never heard anything so unprofessional and offensive in my life from a business owner. All we were asking was a return call. He also couldn't remember who we were and said he'd have to check when he got back to the office but he was so exhausted after working all night he didn't know when that would be. What?! I wish I had before and after photos because when I saw the shine in cherrywood antique furniture that I thought was dark walnut and the rust in the toilet was gone and the grime on the fans and kitchen decor was gone and smooth to the touch and the black marks on the doors that I thought was paint and is now white like the rest of the door, I realized that This Old House built in 1920 was worth calling home. I hired merry maids to do a deep cleaning of a very small kitchen the oven was already clean, the fridge was Great, but..the counters weren't wiped down under the appliances, and the door fronts I had asked to Murphy's oil soap but they didn't touch them, then just the commode in one bathroom & 1 quarter bath room in two hours between two women when all was done, I went to make my meal which is a shake made of ensure I had 2 six packs, They were gone?? I remembered the trash, and sure enough 2 $15.00 ensure six packs . I can't get to the store so this could have been horrible. Like others this was something I treated my mom and myself to, and when told I could pay for another hour I didn't feel that they didn't get they weren't finished so I hesitated to. I moved out of my apartment in June and called Merry Maids to get a quote for a deep clean of the apartment. Though I called a few times during their business hours, no one answered so I left a message. I got no call back. I also went to their website and used their contact form, which generated an email saying to call them for a quote. My roommate was able to contact them and hire them to clean our apartment before we moved out. Our landlord provided a list of everything to clean, and my roommate gave that list to Merry Maids so they could make sure they got everything. She was also specific that the blinds needed to be cleaned. I came into the apartment the day after they finished and noticed that they didn't clean any of the blinds, and they also missed a few other things that were on the list of items to clean. I ended up cleaning the blinds and other things myself, which was frustrating since I'd already paid someone to do that. This week, their system generated another automated email thanking me for my interest in their business, and to call them for a quote. I'm not sure what triggered this email, but I would certainly not be interested in hiring Merry Maids again. read more

I have used Merry Maids after 2 construction projects and for yearly cleanings. Scheduling has been flexible and the price appropriate. After arriving at the home our daughter was moving into wasn't cleaned like it should have been the first time around by 3 Merry Maids, we contacted the manager, Mandy and she sent out Hugo and Jessica(not the original maids)...they did an amazing job and were more than professional. A very nice gentleman came to our house and gave us estimates for a "spring clean" and every-other-weekly cleanings. It was pretty high, but he promised a crew of 3 would clean from top to bottom. A lady showed up (on time) with what looked like 2 little kids. When they left about 3 hours later, about 1/2 of what had been promised was completed. We did not ask (nor did they offer) to return any of the money. Needless to say, any future cleanings were canceled! read more

I live in SLO, am a wife and mother to two young kids, work part-time, and finally made the choice to bring in some extra help with all the "deep-cleaning" that I truly can never find the time for (except maybe once every other month).. After having the Merry Maids team into our home 3 times now, I can say that I have had wonderful experiences all 3 times. The team makes sure to check in at the beginning of each cleaning service, to see if there are any "priorities" that I would like them to pay extra attention to. My kitchen and bathrooms are always my number 1 priority, and I LOVE how sparkling clean they always are! I've tried to scrub our sinks and tubs clean (we live in an older house, with older tubs etc.), and have never been able to get them to the level of cleanliness that the Merry Maids can get them to! Today, I had Elizabeth & Trish come, and while all they ladies we've had are friendly and do an excellent job, I was extra pleased with their service and attention to detail. I called Merry Maids to do a move out cleaning because I could not do the cleaning do to just having surgery and my daughter just having a baby. I gave them the list that had to be done the bathroom looked great but they did not clean the ceiling fan that was in the dinning room, or the blinds that was in the bedroom or living room and I had to wipe down the walls as well which was very hard for me to do with just having surgery. They did not clean the boiler on the stove either. I will never use then or recommend them to anyone. I was very unhappy and unsatisfied with the work. $180 everything should've been done that was on the list and it was not. read more

For about four years we have been so pleased with the quality of the work done by Merry Maids crew that it is a pleasure to give them the most positive review. The workers are professional, honest, efficient, arrive on time and are open to suggestions (we rarely have any). The office staff and owner are very cooperative if we need to change a scheduled cleaning or have a special request.
