I recently had to pay for a vaccination (for tick borne encephalitis, nasty I know!) and little did I know this would end up costing me £75! Had I known, I'm sure I would have gone with money in the bank, but jobless at the time and about to embark on a mission to Romania I was near enough broke. The woman looked at me like I had six heads. How dare I come to her shop with no money (Hello! It's a chemist!?!) I just wasn't too impressed. It used to be owned by the loveliest man called Mr Gracey. Ah back in those days I could have collected the script and paid in a few days, but oh no. Not on her watch! So they've definitely lost points there. Other than that, how different can any chemist be? It's certainly not got the lovely community feel of my local chemist (See Merville) so I don't think I'll be bothering with here any longer.

I was calling by with a friend for a quick collection for a prescription. My friend sat in his car…read morewaiting for me. It took a while before I was asked what I wanted and they were sterile in personality and not such a friendly face. They did all commuicate with each other for a while and after lots of questions they eventually said it wasn't in yet. After 2 phone calls and convincing them that it should be here, I eventually spent 30 minutes in total in that shop when my friend came in to see if I was still alive! The wee stocky woman (shop assitant) with the spikey hair was nasty looking, not helpful, very abrupt, tried to come across more important than she was. Thankfully the younger guy who was friendly and helpful did get the order, while the wee stocky woman walked off making excuses to the chemist and didn't even come back to speak or apologise to me. The young guy gave real good advice about how to double check about orders etc next time and really redeemed this store from getting no stars! Thanks matey!

It is so handy having this wee Boots convenient chemist around these parts. It used to be Bairds…read morebut recently changed hanged to this new store. Seeing as the next nearest chemist would probably be found at the Abbey Centre,(which is a right old pain in the bum!) its great being able to nip up to here for prescriptions, plasters, sun lotion, cough bottles, anything you need you can usually pick up from this handy little store. During the scorching heat at the start of the summer I found myself burnt to a crisp one day after having no cream on and I managed to pick up a great 3 for 1 offer on sun lotion, after sun and facial cream for my wee burnt Rudolph nose! I wont be making that mistake again (not until next summer at least!) Bonus; you get to use Boots card and build up those handy points. This is a small though exceptionally handy and well maintained store which is great for local shoppers.

The pharmastist is happy to help you,to advise if its something they can help with via over the counter medicine or if you need to see a doctor. All in all a great family pharmacy.

I'd like to think we all know who and what Boots is and what they sell but for those of you who…read moredon't, or those who are simply curious, this branch in the Abbey Centre is a convenient chemist which sells the usual buys such as headache tablets, cold/flu aides, deodorant, make up, tanning products, sunglasses, gift sets etc. As well as this there is a section for getting photos developed as well as a dedicated prescription counter. The staff here are helpful (especially Lindsay at the No7 make up counter, if you're after make up make sure and ask for her - she is great at her job.) Boots also offer a great loyalty card which offers customers money off purchases and they send out coupons for deals they are offering. This is a great system which has saved me a pretty penny in the past. I love Boots at Christmas time as they do brilliant gift sets, usually buy two get one free which is always a win!

You can't turn your nose down at discounted make up, toiletries and the likes of all the very…read morereasonably priced products on sale in Semi-Chem. (If you do there's something wrong with you!) If you were to visit any of the other chemists in the Abbey Centre I'm pretty sure all the same items would be a good bit more expensive else where and for this reason I think that having this shop here is a great way of providing a variation and choice between where you want to shop for your goods. Semi-Chem are known for being a great provider of discount stock which you would pay a lot more for elsewhere and this has established them as being a popular choice for the local shopper in the Abbey Centre.
