The people inside are friendly and can answer any questions you have. They have a bunch of info posted on boards outside about hiking in the area, current laws, things happening around town and some of the wildlife you might encounter. I was pissed off about their "pet area" because they have a large beautiful grassy area in front of the visitors center, but pets are not allowed on the grass and must resort to behind the building where it's nothing but rocks. I saw tons of broken glass and then there were the piles of other pets shit all over the rocks and I didn't feel it was the best or safest spot for my dog to be. I feel that because the pet area is designated behind the building that it's maybe not cared for or noticed by the people inside the visitors center much. It's sad because it's the pet owners who should be cleaning up after their pets and clearly they are lazy and not doing it, but the visitors center allows dogs in that area, so they should help keep it at least safe with no broken glass or not have it at all given there is a nearby park within walking distance people could go to that is well maintained. However, we are lucky out here to have some amazing places to get off road and explore some really cool history. Gold Butte is one of these places and has a lot to see. From the old mine site and relics left behind, to some many different geological wonders... And do not be surprised is you run into some wild life or a group of cows grazing on the open range. Overnight camping is permitted and first come, first served with several locations along the paths to set up your site. All in all, if your into the over landing lifestyle, then Gold Butte will not disappoint

This particular park is just outside the library and has plenty of grass, playground area, I even saw someone doing yoga while we were there. As an added bonus, the library has been recently re-done and had tons of activities, toys, etc for the kids to use. We were impressed! We were there in the evening and there was quite a bit of ant activity - I'm not sure if there's anything that can be done about that, if it's a cleanliness issue or if they're just active that time of day. We also witness a dog fight over on the bike path while there and the owners had a few choice words to say to each other that was NOT kid friendly (both owners should've probably had their dogs on leashes... but the language wasn't warranted in my opinion). Overall, this is a great park and well maintained (probably due to the proximity to the library... some of their other parks need work)

The only problem was having 2 bathrooms and only 1 stall per door and with there being a tournament it was pretty inconvenient and they could've been cleaner unfortunately.

A couple years ago when my parents moved to Mesquite, we were AMAZED with their park system…read more There's a bike trail that connects them ALL and we spent spring break exploring the entire bike trail and all the parks on it. All the parks have a sun shade over them and have very creative (and different! We loved the variety!) play structures. They were well thought out. Although, after our most recent visit, I think they must have all been relatively new our first visit, because a few of them, Desert Rose especially, have fallen into some neglect. The sun shade has holes in it, the grass is now all weed and no grass, so no one wants to play in it, the sand level is low, part of the climbing structure is broken, and most noticeable (and a lawsuit waiting to happen) - the playground tiles are warping a sticking up, making an easy tripping hazard for running/playing children. Oh, and they play sand is infested with ants near the spinning/circular structure. They HAVE re-done the basketball court recently, so that's a plus. I've actually never used the bathrooms, but they do have them here. I hope the city of Mesquite will keep up their parks. It was an amazing plan, but if not well taken care of, I can see it being a waste of money and playgrounds being ripped out do to hazardous conditions that could've easily been avoided with proper maintenance. I hope to be able to update this review next time I'm in town!

There is an area with a couple of cannons and flags for each branch of the military honoring Veterans of Mesquite and the Virgin Valley who served their country. The park also offers a covered pavilion, BBQ grills, bathrooms and a decent sized playground with a shade structure over it. They have dog trash bag/can stations, so remember to clean up after your pet. I loved the big beautiful trees that provided excellent shade over the green grass throughout the park. The park isn't huge yet doesn't feel cramped and is instead fun and relaxing with a fair amount of park amenities.
