I've had my share of spanish/mexican restaurants and being a foodie I was very excited to try the newly opened Meztiso. We ordered a couple of things
1. Carne Asada-marinated beed tenderloin, olive oil and bell peppers: over all the 2 kinds of tacos I ordered are good I love how the diced veggies compliment the beef very soft and tasty especially with the habanero sauce. The tortilla was good. Alone. It was sweet but it was good.
2. Pollo- two hour slow roasted chicken taco :My first bite was interesting the texture of the chicken cause me first it was shreded enough to give me a canned tuna like texture i thought for a moment there was tuna in there . I Love how the vegetables give freshness to the overall taco but the chicken just felt flat for me. It needed more marination or flavour. The veggies were the star here and thats kinda disappointing.
3. Potato Croquettes- i love croquettes in every spanish restaurant this is what i order . I love the sauces that came with it gives a garlicky kinda punch the croquettes were soft and delicious with a hint of bacon inside. I liked it. The only thing I wished was for more bacon or the taste of the bacon to come through.
4. Calamares- was perfect !! Soft crunch with the dipping sauce , very tasty!
5. Turnt cheesecake- ricotta took me by surprise in that cake (i didnt read before in the menu) but it was great i loved how it came with salted caramel and chocolate sauce at the side it complemented the cake very well.
6. Lime Tres Leches- what a downer . The cake was just crumbly (too much baking powder) bt i was sad cause it came out very ordinary for me . Sorry the lime was good with the light mousse. I like that part. But the cake part was not great.
Overall, I'd eat there again tasty stuff! cant wait to try the others. I rate this restaurant 3 stars . read more
