Go to Levy's the service and selection of jewelry is better than this awful place. The person working the afternoon shift today was just a very grumpy and very unhappy person. She could have made a big sale with me and my family who were in the market for buying jewelry for everyone in our family. We were excited to check out their 70% off sale as well but her attitude and mean demeanor along with her body language and dismissive language "go to Levy's" as she looked at me with disgust and turned her attention back to her computer. She not only had an attitude with me but also my very kind stepdad. Not sure what was up her butt but it's clear she hates helping people. We were in an out of the store in less than 5 minutes. I purchased three pairs of very unique, darling Venetian glass earrings. 3/$45 is a great price, I really should have bought more for my girlfriends. I first happened upon Metals and Paint years ago, while waiting for a table at the Lady and Sons. I was immediately taken by their silver work, much of which was designed and manufactured in house. They also had an excellent selection of glass beads in earrings and necklaces. I bought a couple of pieces for myself, including a gemstone ring in silver with pearls that I loved. Unfortunately, I lost that ring within a year. And it's taken me this long (at least 5 years) to return to Savannah, and to Metals and Paint. Though many places in Savannah have come and gone, M&P is still there, with much the same feel. The employee was explaining to one lady that when silver prices went up, they did a lot more selling of wholesale jewelry, but that they're getting new supplies in to make their own. There are still several display cases with pieces that you don't see anywhere else. They've also got a good selection of items made with freshwater cultured pearls, venetian glass, polished gemstones, and even wooden clasp necklaces. After my half marathon, I treated myself to some Georgia Peach silver earrings and a pair of South Sea mother of pearl earrings in the most fabulous shade of "peacock" green. If I were the kind of girl that actually wore jewelry, I could easily spend a fortune here, though I think the prices are quite reasonable, particularly considering that this is an artists' city. #Yelp365 - 310/365 read more

I saw a review that said the only negative about the shop is that they didn't buy more. I agree totally. When we visit Savannah we always go to this shop and I always leave with one more treasure. The owner is friendly and enjoys telling about any piece that is of interest. His jewelry is unique and not over priced. My last purchase was a ring from his Larimar stone collection. I wish I had bought earrings at that time. If you are visiting Savannah you must go by his shop. I feel you will see a treasure you just cannot go home without purchasing! read more

I just happened onto Metals and Paint because I arrived early for my reservation at Lady & Son. What a treasure chest. They didn't have a lot of jewelry for men but I notice a bracelet. Unfortunately it was too big. I have a very snail wrist. But the female owner remembered on she had not in the display case. It fit perfectly. Thanks guys for such a unique shop. We stopped in as part of our visit to downtown Savannah & found a treasure trove of beautiful jewelry, most of it made in-house! The owner was so personable & took extra time/care of us, helped us pick out the perfect keepsake & was so kind enough to show us his personally created jewelry. I purchased a recycled aluminum bracelet, necklace, and ring at Metals & Paint on 3/28/12 for $221. The bracelet fell apart the first time I wore it. I haven't worn the necklace because it matches the bracelet and has the same construction problems. The ring is the wrong size - not the one I tried on. At the time of purchase they packed me up a new ring from behind the counter. Never would have thought they'd bait and switch. I called Metals & Paint and they were completely rude, refused to even exchange the pieces, and said they'd call me back but never did. They are a bunch of shady crooks. This place is a tourist trap. I will never bring clients or associates here again. read more

We purchased a number of items as a family during a Christmas 2017 vacation. When we returned home, it was revealed that a necklace purchased there was missing an extension piece. Nearly two months later, I found the credit card statement with the name of the store and searched the web for a number. A quick call and the extension chain was on its way! Very easy to deal with the people at Metals and Paint. Beside the fact that their inventory was absolutely beautiful, the time in the store was so enjoyable they left a lasting memory and we will return when and if we find ourselves visiting Savannah in the future. Well, I just called this store to try and find information about an apprenticeship in silver smithing. I should have known when I said, "hello, how are you?" and the reply was "yes, can I help you?" that customer service wouldn't turn out to be a strong suit there... Anyway, I was hoping to speak with the actual silversmith who would most likely be able to point me in the right direction ( and I made no remark about speaking with the artisan then and there, just offered my number so that they might contact me at their leisure)..however, the lady on the phone asked what it was pertaining to and when I told her I was looking for resources for silversmithing, told me they were a very busy shop and don't do that "type of thing" . Now I have been there and purchased a pendant...it wasn't mobbed when I was there..hmmm. Presently, I am involved in both the landscaping( a business owner myself) and massage therapy industry ( a certified massage therapist) and in both widely different businesses we treat others with much more kindness and open arms to help people with similiar interests and goals...but apparently this woman is way "too busy" to pass my number along to their silversmith for 5 minutes of questions at their leasure..I buy quite a bit of jewelry and believe in supporting local, although after that cold reception I can assure you I won't be purchasing anything from them again in the future. My advice is that you work on your customer service and keep in mind that you can lose a regular customer/client over the phone with just a couple rude or impatient words.
