Though, I could technically write this off as research since I work in the toy industry, it's not that at all. Most Toyworld stores seem to be quite small and cramped with stuff spilling off the shelf and making it hard to move around. The Brunswick store is far from this. It's quite large and everything is nice and neat and spaced out. Everything is in it's own little section and there is a great variety of toys to be found here. They have a nice selection of Playmobil products, which is great as it is rare to find this stuff in Australia from what I've seen. Usually my first visit section in any toy store is the action figures, but here it was almost non-existent. They were on the ends of a few aisles and in a few other spots but they didn't have much of a choice. Everything that was here seemed fairly new though which is a good thing as action figures tend to hang around on the shelf well past when they are the latest thing. I may have caught them on a bad day (Sunday afternoon) but customer service didn't seem high on the agenda. A couple of younger employees were working and I was the only one in the store and went largely ignored by them. I actually had to go and find one of them when I wanted to make a purchase as nobody was anywhere near the counter/front of store. There's a good range here though, with some toys you might not see anywhere else so it's well worth a pop in to stock up on kid's birthday pressies, Christmas...or if you're like me, a treat for yourself.

An excellent toy clearance warehouse…read more This place is fantastic, from their great layout to their abundant stock of every kind of toy imaginable, from current to past season stock at heavily discount prices. The large warehouse is stocked to the roof along its walls with everything from baby toys to puzzles and board games to play gym slides. Many trestle tables and dump bins fill the floor. There is so much to look at and all with handy price stickers attached to the items. The store has an indoor trolley rack (you will need a trolley) and there is enough room to push a stroller around. The warehouse isn't heated, except for what looks like an airplane engine, blowing blue fire towards the cashier. Which is good for them, because it feels almost colder inside the building that out. Do not underestimate the vastness of this place, you could easily spend an hour here, so maybe rug up? All in all, this is an excellent store. I love it and I couldn't find fault if I tried. Just the best assortment of toys, so long as you aren't looking for the newest range (although sometimes they are here too, hard to guess). A godsend for busy parents, because it's all in one place and well laid out and well priced. Check it out, you will not be disappointed...(Game of Thrones Monopoly, come on, who doesn't want that!!!??)

They knowingly sell products that are faulty. When I went back to let them know that something I…read morehad bought was faulty their response was that other customers had told them but that they continued to sell them because "some are, some aren't". They said that they often have other products that are faulty and that they can't open every box to test them all. If they know that something they are selling is faulty or potentially faulty then it is against consumer law to continue to sell it without informing the customer of this risk. This is a shell organisation without any proper management to contact. Avoid them at all costs.

I might as well be announcing it to the world... YES. I PLAY MAGIC: THE GATHERING. As a devout planeswalker speaking to another (or maybe potential) planeswalker, if you're looking for Magic: The Gathering shops in the CBD, this is much better to the MTG Dungeon. ~ It's very largely spaced with plenty of tables to play on! ~ The staff have a great sense of humor in contrast to MTG Dungeon where the man, although he knows his stuff, can be a bit of a cock at times. In the 50 cent bin, the employees at Games Laboratory wrote "Maybe Black Lotus?!" on the side, which I found HILARIOUS! I mean... it's funny right? Because Black Lotus is incredible rare and expensive? Please humor me here... ~ They have a collection of the LEGENDARY cards on display. ALL the Moxes, Black Lotus... omg! I absolutely love it here and I would come back to fulfill more of my weird nerdy needs.

Well, okay, I have reviewed Minotaur, but that is an all purpose Pop-culture store where as this is basically a comic book store. It isn't huge, but it certainly has a nice collection, mostly new released mind you. The owner is pretty knowledgable, and the shelves are laid out by publisher, though that is probably helpful more for the enthusiast as opposed to myself. Oh, they have a nice cabinet with some collectables in the stairwell, though they are for display only. Still, it's a decent store, and pretty conveniently located as well.

There's a tram stop nearby for those public transport fans (and who isn't in beautiful Melbourne?). The staff have always been friendly (I've been to this place several times both to buy and browse), so don't be shy to ask for help, as there's a wide range of American mainstream comicbooks to choose from, both back issues and current ones. There's also a selection of action figures, statues, and other collectibles including special variant comics. They're not as prolific as other stores in their social media, but their stocks are up-to-date. A visit is recommended.

Shop For Me is a strange little toy store at the top end of Lygon St. They run an online store and…read moreit looks like the shop is an extension of this, and with their opening hours, it seems to be more of a side business. They're only open after 5pm a couple of nights during the week, then most of the day on weekends, but their hours seem to be more of a rough guide than anything set in stone. Most of the products you will find in Shop For Me are Lego sets. They have a wide range of sets, including a lot of sets that are usually quite hard to find in stores outside of online stores. They also let you trade the blind-packed Lego Minifigures here, which is great, as anyone who collects them will know how often you end up with a double. Unfortunately they've changed the way they let you trade from being able to swap any old figures to only letting you swap doubles that you receive if you open the packs in-store. The Minifigure packs vary in price depending on who serves you, but if you buy a few they'll usually work out cheaper than anywhere else. They also sell some older loose figures at a higher price, depending on their rarity, and have a couple of discount bins selling cheaper Lego sets. Apart from Lego you can also find a few other collectable figures and statues (mostly superhero and sci-fi stuff) scattered around the front room. Once you head into the dimly lit back room you can find much of the same, with some quite big (and expensive!) statues. They also have a table set up with some larger Lego sets built for display on it. There is coffee on offer here, which I have never been tempted to try, and they do some deals with coffee and Lego at a discounted price. The staff here are friendly and really know their stuff too and are big kids helping other big kids spend their big kid money. You won't find many cheap options here, but the hard to find items definitely make it worth stopping in.

As gold and silver are constantly being marked up you never know if you are getting a good deal. Mario's sells the latest makes and models at great price and if you are buying for more than one occasion be prepared to work some negotiating skills. No, they didn't have the photo booth props I was looking for. They've got loads of random stuff. A great place to come if you have a project you are working on. It's also I good place to find something you didn't realize that you needed or wanted. I give them a thumbs up for their friendly service. Located conveniently across from Northland, but in another shopping strip, with limited parking.
