Here is an example of it; after I wrote my review here is how (text messages) he approached me. Attacking a customers character is never good First off I have to say the work and speed that their crew delivered was great. We love everything that they did for us. We had a number of requests for them to: 1. Build a deck near our pool with cover 2. Replace our fencing to hide the pool equipment 3. New fence towards the back of our property In the photos you can see how great it turned out. Now where they lost their stars is in communication and dealing with conflicts. 1st issue - We had a dumpster provided that they subcontracted and had a number of issues. James gave my husband the phone number to contact dumpster company and "deal with the issue". As a customer all issues pertaining to a subcontractor that THEY hired should have been handled by them and not us. 2nd issue - some of the fence posts they installed warped and we asked for them to come repair. We had to text and call about 10 times! We were given dates that someone would show up and then no one showed up and no communication about 5 times. Continuous calling and text had to occur with the same result. Then random out of the blue one day someone showed up to fix the fence and once again no communication to inform us they were coming nor after to check how the repair went. This process was extremely frustrating and clear that dealing with conflicts isn't their forte.

He gave me an up-front estimate, which seemed fair. He asked for a 50% deposit, which (based on past reviews) also seemed fair. The first workday, he arrived then left because of weather: it was a bit misty but not actively raining. Each day, he arrived at around 11 am. I told him up front that our HOA is very strict and that the lights must be professionally installed. Halfway through, there were cords dangling making it appear unsightly. I told him again that we want all cords hidden. At the end of it all, there were still cords dangling in several places, easily visible a casual observer. Additionally, while Govee recommends their lights be 2 to 4 inches from the wall, he installed them at least 10 inches from the wall, making for a muted and dimmed light show. In the end, we were very disappointed and had to hire a second contractor to uninstall his work and then reinstall the lights correctly. If you need Govee Permanent Outdoor Lights installed, look elsewhere. I cannot speak to any other work he John does.

This added significantly to their time. I had a good time visiting with them, and we laughed about our goofy dogs. They cleaned up their mess and were respectful of my property while here. I do not hesitate to recommend John. I have two happy little dogs who have already figured out how to use the door!

It was always a shoddy, unattractive job but multiple construction defects lead to us having to rip it out and more became apparent during our new deck construction. We paid $12k to them ( this did include a roof which is still there after the beams that hold it up were replaced and finally secured to the ground with concrete and steel which they had failed to do! To be fair our contractor says they used good cedar! That at earns one star. Our HOA requires approval - they said it was approved - it wasn't leaving us in a long term battle. I will take responsibility for this as I should have waited for communication myself from the home owners and not trusted them! The job was shoddy at best, we constantly had to follow up with them to get the work finished, it took weeks and they were still coming back a year later to address issues ( my new deck that someone else built is beautiful, properly finished and was done in 4 days including tear down ) Edges were left rough and unfinished, they winged it with pieces of wood added on to 'complete ' the work which looked awful. They had to come back less than a year later to replace finishing touches around an engineered beam ( which we have subsequently learned is - safe - but the posts that support it were not properly secured. The planks were screwed down so tightly that multiple boards split - which to be fair they did replace - but over the years this has caused additional splitting so we had to replace them anyways ( and they have been sealed and stained since it was built ) so we just decided to rip out the whole thing !! The boards were also so tight together that water pooled on the deck each time it rained which never happened with our original deck, we subsequently learned that the front of the deck was 2.5 inches higher than the back which caused water to flow towards the house. And they told us they"would eventually shrink to allow water through - they did not so we lived with puddles. The flashing job was awful and we had to have someone else to finish it ( it still never looked great) ; it looks like it's been there for 20 years - see pics. The flashing should have been installed under stucco not attached to the top We had to have someone else complete the staining it as their job was poor. So both that and the flashing issues cost more money ! The gutter comes out under the deck so water pooled and sat under it which is a terrible idea leading to rot. Water directed to below the deck and boards so tight led to the perfect storm and rot ! Our new contractor had to diver the flow . It just looked awful and always had! When we compare one new deck to the own they built - it is night and day. We have perfect edges, no random gaps, no weird pieces of wood tacked on. Yes I had to pay to remove their rubbish, but Lesson lesson learned. I have a deck I am happy with finally and it was not from Diamond Decks

Think twice before hiring this company. This review is based on how we were treated by the owner…read moreDonnie Ferguson. We hired Diamond Decks to install a patio cover in our backyard. The cover is beautiful. The material matches the house and the craftmanship of the fireplace, roof and woodwork are exactly what we wanted. Here's where it all went wrong. The last job was to stain the concrete both existing and the new walkway we had them install. The crew did not power wash the 10-year-old concrete before staining. We contacted the project manager right away and asked why they were not power washing and he said the crew didn't think it needed power washed. Ten years of dirt and they didn't think it needed power washed? Prior to staining, the crew put samples of the color on the concrete and asked for approval of the color. They didn't wait for the stain to dry but had us sign off on the color while it was wet. The certificate we signed says "Do not sign this certificate until all services have been satisfactorily performed and material supplied or goods received and found satisfactory." Despite this warning they had us sign the certificate prior to the stain and seal being applied. Let me also point out that no one asked us what we wanted the stain to look like or guided us in any way to get the look we wanted. The stain looked nothing like we wanted so they came back and applied another color and seal and made it worse. We reached out to Donnie and let him know we were not happy with the stain. His resolution was to charge us another $10,000 to do an overlay on the two patios and then apply another stain. Donnie believed it was the old concrete that was the problem and thought we needed an overlay. We received quotes from two other companies to fix the stain. Neither company thought we needed an overlay. Instead they would remove the seal and stain and reapply the color we wanted. We again reached out to Donnie and respectfully asked for a reduction in our final payment of $7500 to fix the concrete stain. This was his reply: Absolutely not. We are experts and what we do and the color selection you picked does not need multiple coats. I do not care who you are getting your false information from. And you cannot remove foot print and terrible texture work that is in the concrete work we did not pour. The imperfections would be difficult for anyone to see because they are enhanced once the color and sealer are applied. This has one of the best sealer you can use and this is specifically why the form says DO NOT SIGN THIS FORM Unless you approve the color. It's not an easy product to strip off hence the reason it last much longer and that's why we use it. The balance owed is now past due $41628. I will need payment in full by the end of day or I will need to notify the attorneys that the contract breach is made. You've signed all the paperwork we asked of you and now you wanna insult us by telling us you want us to refund money cause you don't like what you selected. This is the owner of the company, threatening, insulting and hostile. We of course were not in breach of contract and he knew it. They had just completed the work seven days ago. Again, think twice about hiring this company. They showed a total lack of concern about our dissatisfaction and blaming us for the results of the concrete stain. I will say that Casey, the project manager, was always professional and showed empathy for our concerns.
