The guy really packs in the food so for $12 a box it's def worth if you're in a time crunch and want a filling vegetarian meal. To order, order at the counter, pay at the cashier, and bring back your receipt to collect your food. The food is mildly seasoned and not super oily which I love - I def go home to add hot sauce/red chili flakes at home though. After I got the food I walked around the store to look around. Not sure about the fresh produce, but the dairy section is sooo pricy compared to what I'm used to at Trader Joe's for things like organic milk or non-dairy yogurt. I get that it's a small business but for the amount and speed my household consumes dairy, we got to go for Trader Joe's.

This store gives queens residents another option for organic, healthy food without having to wait in long lines at Trader Joe's or drive all the way to Manhasset, NY. By the way, this store's vitamin shop is AMAZING. The person who is in charge of the vitamin area is knowledgeable in what to offer clients based on their illness. This store also serves shakes, and meals, which I have yet to try. A "healthy meats" store (extension of this store) opened up nearby and I'll check that out too.

I was in on a Saturday afternoon and it wasn't busy. I usually go to the nearby, always busy Trader Joe's. They have organic coffee for $12-$14/ 12 oz, which is good compared to $17-20+. Never saw that from Solaray so I quickly told the staff to grab it down for me since it was located high up on the shelf. It was the only last bottle left. It got propolis, bee pollen, and spirulina so that got me hooked! One bad thing about this store is that the supplements sit high up on the shelves so it's a disadvantage for short people. Manager calls me, says that only one item is actually in stock, and "what we can do for you" is to "let" you pick out other items of "equal or lesser value" instead. Great. He doesn't have what I want, but his idea of a big accommodation is to keep my money and "let" me have things that I don't want, and hey, if they are of "lesser value" that's perfectly fine. Gee, thanks. That's not the bad part. I told him to cancel the order. He said that he would. I thought that we were done. Nope. Moments later I received confirmation that the one item that they did have was "ready for pickup", and I was sent a receipt for I was being charged. Called the store. Same manager proceeded to talk over me and attempt to bully me. I told him that I was filing a chargeback, and I will, if that charge goes through. I'm only writing this review because the same manager was a jerk not once, but two different times. I hate dealing with people like this, and I shouldn't have to. Neither should you. Please shop elsewhere.

Most of my encounters with the staff at that store have been favorable. However Jose and Maria really stands out in reference to and because of their knowledge and genuine helpfulness. Their presence as well as the products sold always makes it a good experience to shop at the Vitamin Shoppe.
