Stephanie (the owner) is, by far, the most caring, understanding, and helpful instructor I have EVER had. She understands each person's needs and can help each person grow not only in confidence, but in self-reliance. Stephanie always looks out for every person and makes sure they are getting the help they need, as well as being given the push to jump higher (sorry about the pun) as well. Her horses are all loved dearly, taken care of, and get to roam in spacious fields all day like horses should. No horse is forced to stand in a stall all day only to be ridden once, and returned. They get to stretch their legs and take in the serene backwoods Bowie scenery. Every lesson is formed around making each person better, with focuses in different areas. One day might be a balance day, strength day, cross country day, position day, ect. I never know what fun experiences lay for me on the other side of the white fenced arena. The grounds are well groomed, with several large paddocks full of happy horses. There is a spacious outdoor ring, covered indoor ring, and a host of cross country fences around the property. There are several friendly furry friends roaming around the grounds, including Brandy the ever present Goldendoodle, and Pepper, the most friendly cat in the world. I will continue to make Merkel my home and hope that everyone sees the beauty in this lovely farm tucked back on a piece of paradise.

The owner was rude to us because we didn't 'look up' enough - she said she was joking but it was at our expense, wasn't funny, and her tone was not joking. Also, the horses do the exact same trail every day, and will just follow the guide anyway, it's a bit like the touristy horse rides, except there isn't anything touristy to see. I wouldn't go back, there are several nicer farms nearby.

Camp Wabanna has been the location for our organization's annual retreat for nearly 7 years. We…read moreusually have up to 70 middle and high school students attend. It's great to have a space where you can be outdoors and have good old fashioned fun. Our kiddies love the giant swing and bonfire where we make s'mores. The staff is courteous, helpful and very well organized. The location is affordable and they respond well to critical feedback. For example, when we provided feedback that the food was not good during last year's stay, they made sure that the food was much better this year. The only complaint is that their reservation policy only allows scheduling for groups of over 100 attendees in two year blocks. Unfortunately, despite us being loyal, repeat customers, we are only able to schedule in single year increments. As a result, there is no availability for the timeframe that we need next year and we will be looking for another location.

Our staff has team building events every year and why not here since everyone else we work with has gone. Such a beautiful location on the water! We have a large staff so came in groups on different days. I don't think I've ever laughed so hard and had so much fun until this day! Huge GIANT swing, swings you 50 feet in the air. I'm not afraid of heights but the drop does drop your stomach! A pulley and strong men hoist you up, you release your rope and swing. So fun! Team building in the gym, dance off, races and sillyness. The staff was amazing! If your organization is looking for something to bring your staff together, this is it! You will not be disappointed!

WARNING- the camp is cancelled if there is threat of thunderstorms with NO reimbursement! i requested to pick up my children 30 minutes early for a doctors appointment and was told no- that I could either pick them up at 1 during the porta pot break or at 4 when camp ends. So in order to make it to the doctors, it meant 2.5hrs that I had to find care for my child during my work day. Two of my kids arrived to camp with a lollipop (not great i know, but trying to accommodate the 9am pickup with an 8am work start means things slip!) and was told lollipops were not allowed and they didn't have a trashcan to throw it away in! the owner of the camp tried to tell my son to put it on the seat in my car! so i paid $1275 for my three kids to attend camp and they could not accommodate an early pickup, wouldn't throw away a lollipop they wouldn't allow, and they had to stay home today due to potential thunderstorms that so far have not come to fruition. I've had the kids in this camp for 3 years bc I wanted them to have different experiences and they take toddlers, but I'm really frustrated and disappointed in the lack of accommodation and lack of value for the cost. we will certainly not be going back. save your money! there are tons of great camps around that are less expensive and tons of fun with great, accommodating staff.

REVERCHON RE-DEUX…read more "Welcome back my friends, to the spinning that never ends...." ((editor's note: the header likely makes zero sense to non-coaster people, so allow me to explain. Reverchon is the designer of this cookie cutter model, it was relocated from my local Six Flags, and this particular version has a Mardi Gras/Creole theme, ergo the unusual spelling of "re-do". Didja get all that? Good. Moving on.)) This wild mouse coaster previously called Gurnee, Illinois its home, where it was beloved by many enthusiasts who knew how to work the ride to their advantage. But since it was moved here to mid-Maryland they got rid of the cool entry façade themed like a building from New Orleans' French Quarter. The cars are fairly cramped and if you aren't sitting with someone next to you, your ass will literally be sliding all over the place (which is WAY more painful than it sounds). The trick to this -- and any other spinning coaster -- is to unevenly load weight in the car. By concentrating all of the mass onto either the far left or far right side, you're basically forcing momentum in that direction, which will result in far more free spinning than otherwise. Potential energy: it's simple physics, people. Even armed with this knowledge, you might still get some irregular motion, so basically the ride's a total crapshoot. The hairpin turns on the upper level are fun, as is the surprise bump on the lower level toward the very end of the ride, and the middle section can deliver some solid spinning sensations as mentioned above. Unfortunately, because of low rider throughput the lines can get damn long. Eric S's SFA Coaster Ranking = 8th out of 8. + coaster review in 40 words or less + It CAN be a whole heap of fun, but it's not unique and Ragin' Cajun still feels very much like a cheap pair of hand-me-down pants with a hole in the crotch.
