Dr. Gillean has been my OB for almost 10 years, she is amazing! She takes her time to listen and always remembers little details about me/my family. The wait times at the office can be very long, but to me it's worth it. The staff has changed a lot over the years and I do miss some people but overall everyone is very nice. Dr. Gillean has delivered all 3 of my children at Presby Rockwall and I've had a wonderful experience every time. read more

TW: body image issues So I've only ever had annual well women exams until now since I'm pregnant. The first two visits were absolutely awful. Amy the nurse practitioner needs a lesson on how to keep snide comments inside her head. The first visit she said I was overweight and then told me I couldn't continue my workout routine which makes zero sense. I cried on the exam table once she walked out of the room. The second visit with Amy she commented on my belly acne since we had the Doppler out to hear the heartbeat then told me "the baby steals the mothers beauty". This lady knew I had body image issues before being pregnant and all she said was "well you're pregnant now so we're just not going to worry about that". I haven't even seen the OB yet nor do I really want to after experiencing what Amy brings to the table. The ultrasound tech was amazing. That's the only nice thing about this office. If you want to be talked down to throughout your pregnancy then this is the place for you. As for me, I'm now in my second trimester looking for a new doctor who is professional and has compassion. read more

The office is clean and staff and everyone was nice and professional enough. However, during my regular exam to get a birth control renewal, Dr. Potter discovered a large tumor on my uterus. I left the appointment in tears, with a years worth of birth control renewed, and a pamphlet on hysterectomies (the surgery she said I needed and she would be performing). I am 38 years old and have never had any major health complications. I get home and start reading up on fibroid tumors, only to learn the birth control I was on, that she renewed, is pretty much tumor steroids. Additionally, I was not told about UFE (uterine fibroid emobolization), a much less invasive procedure (does not involve surgery!!!), with less recovery time, and costs less. Very disappointing to not be told by a medical professional my options, and have to discover them on my own via google. Needless to say, I scheduled a second opinion with a fibroid specialist in Dallas, who has been treating women for over 20 years with this procedure, and will be going that route. WOMEN look into your options if you have been told you need a partial hysterectomy from anyone at this clinic. Over 200,000 full and partial hysterectomies are done a year due to fibroids, and many of them are avoidable. read more

Rescheduled on us 90 minutes before first appointment after waiting 4 months to be seen. Not a problem. Get there for the rescheduled appointment and after waiting a little bit we were told it would be potentially 45 more minutes until we could be seen! I'm sure the doctor is great but if you don't have the liberties in your schedule to reschedule things or wait long periods of time, RUN! Messy! read more

Amy is fantastic. I had ALOT (maybe too much) to talk about at my appointment. She patiently listened to my concerns, answered all of my questions and was just NICE. She made an appointment that I was dreading (who enjoys Pap smears??) pleasant. It is refreshing to be treated with respect. All staff were friendly and kind. The phlebotomist was so sweet and most important skilled!! Kim is a sweetheart and always asks about my family and kiddo. Front staff was very patient and helpful when I struggled with the new online forms. Great experience. Will continue to use this practice! read more

This practice is a joke. The office manager Kathy at the rockwall location will publicly embarrass you. Degrading someone because they are unable to make a $20.00 payment, screaming in a patients face, and slamming her paperwork down. Was turned away and not seen over an outstanding balance that we just made a $25 payment on to book the appointment in the first place. On top of this we had already met our deductible for the year, so we would not be increasing the outstanding balance. None of this mattered, all they wanted was $20.00 right then or was not happening. As I told Kathy, we struggle to put food on the table, and her response was "so well. So do I, and I still have to pay my bills" Very unprofessional staff. I definitely will not be returning, and as for the outstanding balance... Enjoy trying to collect it because you'll never see it. read more

Dr. Karen Slabas is hands down, the very best physician I have ever encountered. I had a HORRIFIC experience with my last OBGYN that delivered my son and was completely content never going to one again. However, complications arose and I didn't have an option. I took a stab in the dark after researching online and I am so so so grateful that I did. Dr.Slabas has the most incredible bedside manner I have ever seen and she goes above and beyond to ensure her patients are taken care of. She's extremely down to earth, while also being very knowledgeable and matter of fact when it comes to medical procedures,risks,process,etc. I would 100% recommend her to any woman looking (even if you aren't looking- you should switch) for an amazing OBGYN. The office staff are extremely kind and accommodating. They have always been very responsive no matter what the issue was. Wait time is very minimal even though the waiting room is always full. Cannot say enough good things about this office, especially Dr. Slabas! read more

Pros: Dr. Gilliean Cons: Everything else I would give 0 reviews if it weren't for Dr. Julia Gillean. I moved to TX from AZ when I was 7 months pregnant. Dr. Gillean made the transition as smooth as she could. She is super easy to talk to, great with my kids, & never dismissive. She took her time with me, listened to all my concerns, & offered full explanations for each of her recommendations. My prior two babies were born at exactly 39 weeks, & being in a new state with 0 support or emergency child care, I wanted an induction to ensure my older kids would be taken care of when I was delivering my youngest. Dr. Gillean worked with me to make sure I would have my preferred induction date. On the day of induction, Gillean checked on me multiple times throughout the prepping process. Having had 2 epidurals previously, I wanted to pull off a drug-free birth this time. After Dr. Gillean broke my water (per my request & only after she did a thorough explanation of the pros & cons on this), my contractions started. She was supportive & encouraging of my willingness to go drug free, but also made it a point to ensure me that there was nothing wrong with giving in to pain-meds during delivery. I eventually broke down & requested the epidural & again she was still very supportive & encouraging of my decision. CONS: 1. The office waiting room is NOT child friendly. The TV is generally on a soap opera, reality TV, or news channel. There are breakable/fragile items all over that look nice, but mean I have to be extra diligent about keeping my children close by. There are zero kid toys or even kid distractions (a painting with thirty colorful shapes within it will suffice for a good ten minutes even). Now this would not be a huge issue if I didn't have to wait in this room for less than thirty minutes. 2. The bathroom is subpar. Old OB had a restroom in the waiting room, then a restroom for leaving urine samples. This office has a two stall bathroom with one sink squeezed in next to the urine sample box. WHICH IS ALWAYS FULL. I regularly had to rearrange peed on plastic cups to fit my own in there. 3. The WAIT time makes me say a string of swear words in my head. TWO HOURS one day (only to have no visit as she had to leave for the hospital last minute). NEVER less than half an hour. An AVERAGE of one hour. I was there once every other week & then once a week for the last four weeks of my pregnancy. Not to mention additional random visits here & there. I usually waited about an hour. 4. The front office staff are RUDE. I don't know what goes on behind the scenes. I assume they over-pack the doctors schedule & allot minimal time for her with each patient, & she exceeds that time. I assume requests to squeeze in additional patients which probably puts an extra clog in the system. I assume these people get bitched out often as if they are the sole reason for horrific wait times. I can understand them being a little frustrated with their jobs occasionally. What I can't understand, is why they act as if the patient is an inconvenience. Yes, I asked four times if they knew how much longer the doctor would be. Yes, this happened in a 90 minute period of time while I was 8 months pregnant & trying to entertain TWO KIDS in their child-hater waiting room! No apologies from them. 5. Scheduling an appointment is a NIGHTMARE!!! I've had to resort to begging & pleading to get scheduled sometimes. When you're nearing the end of your pregnancy, you're supposed to be seen every week. They don't always have availability for as early as one week out & they didn't think to schedule me for multiple visits until after I realized they can't handle only 7 days notice so I requested to schedule all future visits for that pregnancy. POST PARTUM you are supposed to have a 6 week checkup. Well I was a little bit preoccupied post-partum & didn't call until my newborn was nearly a whole month old. The earliest appointment they had for me was over a month out. So a 10 week wait for a 6 week follow up. 5. Birth Control Nightmare: My past two experiences with Mirena were a-ok & I wanted it again. I assumed I could easily have this done on my 6 week follow up just like my last 2 times. Apparently not. I don't know if this is a TX thing or a new health-care regulation, but - Process: Request Mirena at an appointment; Wait for a 3rd party to call me so I can approve the request; Wait for device to arrive at OB office & for them to call me. THEN they tell me to call on the 1st day of my next cycle. Happened on a Saturday, & I called on Tuesday. Their only option for an appointment was Monday at 2pm which I can't do. As it is a 10-day window for insertion, I now have to wait until my next cycle. Staff was rude, unapologetic & told me I could try next time. Post-partum 3 months now STILL without birth control because their scheduling is THE WORST. Great delivery doctor, terrible everything else. read more

Great place! I found out I was pregnant on a Saturday called my original oby and they couldn't get me in for more then a month. They referred me to an oby next door they didn't have an opening till yet again another month. Guess the winter time is a busy time..... So, I googled other places and this one appeared. I called and the front desk lady was so helpful and so sweet. Forgot to mention the last two I called were absolutely rude! As if I was taking up there time. I am so new to this never ever have I been pregnant. Moving forward womens Metroplex care were absolutely wonderful! They got me in that following Thursday and I was seen by Amy their nurse practitioner which she was absolutely professional and genuinely caring. I highly recommend this place. I am looking forward to my next visit next month. Thank you Women's Metroplex Care you are keeping this mama to be at ease! read more

Dr. Slabas is the best doctor I've ever had in my life. She is the friendliest and most personable doctor I've ever had. She made me feel so comfortable and didn't rush anything. I am trying to find a new OBGYN because I am 6 weeks pregnant and my wonderful doctor is quitting. This is my second pregnancy and I knew almost instantly that I was pregnant, cue the nausea, exhaustion, etc. SO I called this facility to set up an apt. and they said they would not see me until Dec. and to try again then, which is 6 weeks along. When I call, they say I won't meet the doctor until my 3rd apt. So I am blindly going to have a doctor that I have never met? And the receptionist is the RUDEST person I have ever talked to. "SO you haven't had any care yet??" Yes, because you told me you wouldn't see me! UGH so frustrating. read more

Love the doctors and nurses here! So it's a shame to give this review but the staff is not very polite which is irritating since their who you deal with. The wait is RIDICULOUS. Every appointment I have had here, I'm here anywhere from 10-30 minutes early... when do I get called back? 10-15 (except for today it was 30!) minutes after my appointment time! Dr's run behind and I get that... but I specifically set up my appointment times at 1 because it's "when everyone gets back from lunchtime." I was seeing Dr. Potter and was initially pleased with her. On my first 2 appointments they gave me courtesy calls to remind me of my appointments, something most other doctors do, via text messages or calls. Then one day I got a bill for a $25 No show fee. But I never got a reminder call for the appointment they say I missed. I called to inquire when was I supposed to have been there and their front desk person was super rude, condescending and belittling. She said that the calls I had received were a courtesy but they did not have to call me. So basically they don't have the courtesy to remind you of appointments, something most other doctors and establishments do, but they do have the discourtesy to charge a No show fee. I asked to speak with Dr. Potter but I was denied the opportunity. I was told Dr. Potter does not talk to her patients on the phone. I paid my No Show fee but decided to look for another doctor. I found one who is willing to give me the attention I deserve and whose staff is not rude. read more

First, I should point out that two of the doctors at Metroplex Women's Care ("MWC") have an ownership interest in Texas Health Resources Presbyterian in Rockwall, Texas ("Rockwall Hospital"). I am currently sitting in the NICU at Texas Health Resources Presbyterian Dallas ("NICU") following my wife's birth of our son originally at the Rockwall Hospital, wondering if our son will pull through. I was originally very unhappy about the way my wife and I were previously treated at MWC after we were not seen for some 30 to 45 minutes passed our appointment time. My wife brought me because she was told it would be the first sonogram and we would get to speak to Dr. Slabis, my wife's OBGYN. We were not seen by Dr. Slabis and when I discussed the wait times with the physician assistant, she, in short, suggested that if we did not like the wait times, we should go elsewhere. My wife continued to see Dr. Slabis, not knowing her partners had an ownership interest in the Rockwall Hospital. We found it very strange that if my wife ever had even the smallest question, the staff at MWC would simply tell her to go to the Rockwall Hospital. Now, I suspect I know why that was. My wife would be monitored for a couple hours, then released, and we would be charged an ungodly sum of money - all when all my wife would do is ask whether a common situation was normal (it was her first pregnancy). So around the 39 week mark, Dr. Slabis asked my wife about the previous yelp review and requested it be taken down, claiming we were obviously happy about the care since we hadn't changed physicians. Again, she didn't change for a host of reasons, not that we were happy with MWC... indeed, the wait times continued to be an issue. Thereafter, my wife went full term and Dr. Slabis decided to induce my wife the night of her last doctor's appointment. So, we checked into the hospital and I requested a list of all doctors who had a financial interest in the Hospital. I wasn't provided with a list, but a number to call for someone who did have that information. Strangely, when Dr. Slabis checked in on my wife the morning of May 18, she flat out told me, that she did not have a financial interest in the Rockwall Hospital... she did not tell me that the other doctors at MWC DID have a financial interest in the Rockwall Hospital. Following came a host of constant miscommunications by several healthcare providers at the Rockwall Hospital. Those statements would be contradicted by Dr. Slabis. My wife was informed that she wasn't far enough along on the 18th so normally they would send the patient home, but they decided to continue the induction and got far more aggressive, at least from our prospective. When they were doing those procedures to speed the process up, my wife and my unborn son's health deteriorated quickly. This prompted my wife to undergo an emergency c-section. I would later find out that the operation room was not properly prepared, including computer equipment being turned off that should have been on. I heard comments in the OR about how surprised the attending nurses found how large Dr. Slabis cut into my wife, saying it was the largest incision they had seen her make. I don't know if that was a personal issue or what based on some comments and the review concern... but my son was pulled from my wife and was very pale. Our son recovered faster than people thought and he was brought back for mother daughter bonding. She breastfed and our son seemed very happy. We were told to get some sleep and they would monitor our son for three hours and wake my wife for the next feeding. Ultimately all seemed well and I went home for a shower. When I got back, I find out our son was being transferred to the NICU because Rockwall Hospital didn't have one (allegedly because Lakepointe protested the expansion. Based on our experience, Rockwall Hospital should be banned from having one.) My wife said Dr. Archer told her he could only transfer in-house when she asked for our son to be transferred to Harris Methodist. I was not consulted though my wife was on several medications at the time. I also found out my wife was being discharged from the hospital by Dr. Slabis, less than 24 hours following an emergency C-Section. At the NICU, we were informed the discharge was very unusual, and that my wife needs to be very careful as most are discharged no less than 3 days post op. So that is where I am... in the NICU with my son, struggling to survive, with more than one healthcare provider telling me I need to request post op reports because my wife and I have not been told the full story, and trying to do my best to take care of my wife. My wife has opted not to see Dr. Slabis for post follow up, with all trust in MWC obliterated. read more

By far the worst experience ever! My appointment was at 11:20, after sitting for 49 minutes I asked if I should reschedule. Your next I was told! Then I got put in a room ... 39 more minutes go by. Stupid me for waiting . I got up and walked out only to notice the stuff eating lunch . Really your eating and I have been waiting for an hour and 30 minutes? How unprofessional . You can tell by the demeanor of the office staff that this place is just trying to pack people in, booking to many people at one time! Will never go back... For your sanity do y waste your time with this place!!! read more

If I could give this place a 0 rating I would. Bottom line! my doc did not show up for my delivery!!!!. I am still not quite over the trauma of that night at the hospital, but finally i can at least talk about it after almost 2 years. After all the OB appointments, pre care check ups etc..whats the use if you cannot depend on this place for the actual event. I did not even get a phone call afterward asking about me or the baby..no follow ups whatsoever for any post natal or anything. Please stay away from this place moms. read more
