Amazing venue on the upper East side. I came here for a non profit breakfast. The ballroom was beautifully decorated with painted ceilings. The breakfast was great and event went fabulously.

Stunning event venue in one of the most historic neighborhoods of New York City! The interior is gorgeous for any sort of event (conferences, weddings, business meetings). There are lots of smaller rooms in the upper floors. Staff was truly polite and came to assist whenever they saw me looking for a room

Food is pretty decent here and the fries are amazing! Love dining on the 6th floor with the view of NYC and the Central Park!

Classy venue, very old school. Food and service was pretty decent, ambience is top notch. My margarita was the best I had, but when my friend ordered the same she got a mediocre one so maybe not very consistent. But overall had a great time.

The grand marble staircase at the Metropolitan Club.

The Metropolitan Club is arguably the most architecturally grand clubhouse in NYC. Upon entering their gates on East 60th St. and walking into their massive marble lobby, you immediately realize you're somewhere very special -- esp. with its imposing staircase. That staircase is often used to great effect during special events. That is where the Knights of Malta make announcements during their White Cross Ball...and where blonde minstrels with candles in their hair wow the gathering crowd below during the annual Scandinavian Christmas Ball. Next to the lobby are other beautiful rooms like their huge gilded ballroom as well as other baroque (or is it rococo?) styled salons. You almost feel like you're in Versailles. The top of the stairs leads to impressive dining halls -- my favorite is the patio where one can dine al fresco with a view overlooking Central Park. Like similar clubs (i.e. the University Club, Knickerbocker Club, etc.), the dress code is strictly business formal and above. If you're invited to an event at the Metropolitan Club, make sure you go.

Fancy shmancy! Right on 5th and 60th lies this Goliath of a building with a fenced front courtyard. It was December so there was a rather large Christmas tree. The main space itself is to the left, where many simultaneous parties can be happening at the same time. There is a central atrium with large chandeliers and a double staircase to one side. It's impressive with historical stature. The party I was in was on the next floor up in one of the corner rooms. It was nicely catered with huge amounts of desserts and food. I think it's a lovely place to have an event but can't imagine it being really cheap...

From now on, this is probably one of my favorite social clubs in NYC. I was invited to a gala event there and I was delighted from the moment I walked in. I was greeted by a beautiful Christmas tree and I couldn't believe how beautiful the decor inside was. I couldn't stop looking everywhere and taking pictures from everything I saw. People there were welcoming, service was fantastic. I hope to get back there very soon!

Rude Staff!! As a favor to a friend, I set aside my evening plans to attend their annual "Governor Ball". The guests, waiters, waitresses were all very friendly and welcoming. However, the management staff spent the evening hoovering their guest looking for "rule violations" and toward the end of the evening they found one... me! On the dance floor I foolishly loosed my tie- encircling tuxedoed vultures had their victim! I was immediately ejected from the dance floor and ushered to a waiting area. No explanation, no pleasantries, no general manners. The accused was informed of his crime... a loose knot in my tie! I offered my heartfelt apology, re-Windsored and with some negotiation allowed re-admittance. Dine at your risk... but you've been warned. Keep your necks tightly noosed!

I couldn't have been more confused when I walked into the University Club for a USC alumni event…read more My girlfriend and I have been watching a significant amount of Horror-Thriller movies lately, so my adrenaline started PUMPING when I got off the elevator to a floor of hotel rooms that legit looked like the shining. My head was on a SWIVEL ready for someone bursting through a door with an axe. I was completely lost looking for "Room #4," and began to spiral. I soon realized that I just took the wrong elevator, and found the room pretty easy once I took the correct elevator lol. Once I gathered my composure and found Room #4, I could finally appreciate how stunningly beautiful this place was. It is like an Oligarch's MANSION straight from the 19th century. It's tasteful luxury, when luxury meant more than just cookie cutter modern architecture. They had an open bar and some bomb horderves all night, with my favorite being this fresh tuna on top of a cucumber. I ate like 30 of them. Me and the lady in a tuxedo walking around with the tray became well acquainted. I honestly have no real idea what this place is, but I imagine it's a members only club where the rich and famous gather to make important decisions. That's the vibe at least. Kinda eerie. Guests are treated poorly, and I was even threatened with the police simply for taking a few extra minutes to leave my room. The culture here feels arrogant and elitist, with staff acting as though they are above the guests rather than here to provide hospitality. It's disappointing because the property itself has potential, but the treatment of guests completely ruins the experience.

I appreciate the club seeking to maintain fashion standards and curating an old-timey atmosphere…read more However, when it is done beyond reasonable common sense, it does not incentivize me to come back. I was a guest of a member during the 18-inch snow storm, so I wore my $500 dollar suede Danner lights (Made in the USA) to manage the snow. Upon entry, I was informed by the staff that, due to the suede being too light, it looked too much like Timberland boots, which are banned. I was professionally whisked to a backroom, where I was offered to wear black loafers 3 sizes too large if I wanted to make my appointment. I spent the rest of my time skipping through the venue in order to not trip over myself, wearing massively oversized shoes. I would have been okay with this footwear restriction if it was universally enforced, but there were plenty of people in the club wearing duck boots, metal hook leather hiking boots, and even the same type of boots of a slightly darker shade. Apparently, the shoe shade restriction was not something members are aware about (the no sneakers restriction is well known). I have previously been a guest here with positive experiences. However, today I was put in an illogically unsafe experience, forced to wear loaner shoes 3 sizes too large, because $500 lighter suede boots are deemed less classy than duck boots for being too"Timberland like" during a snow storm.

Afterwards, we went to the second floor for dinner. The dining area was very grand. We were seated right away. Even though it was peak dining hours, the space was pretty empty. Service throughout the meal was exceptional. The wait staff was so attentive and friendly. The food on the other hand was not the best. It stated off strong with a bread basket. The bead was warm and tasty with delicious butter on the side to spread on it. For my meal, I ordered a French onion soup and lobster tail Cobb salad. The FRENCH ONION SOUP was unfortunately quite watery and bland. The LOBSTER TAIL COBB SALAD was ok. There were a good amount of toppings on the salad and the portion was huge. But the main star, the lobster tail, was ice cold, rubbery and also very bland. All in all, even though the space is beautiful and service is impeccable, the food is just ok - really wish there was a bit more flavor to the dishes.

It looked like the elite Manhattan 5th Ave crowd would frequent this with its privacy. The club has an initiation fee of 10k from what I hear. Honestly, I felt like their service to reciprocal members was distasteful. Several times staff were like who are you in an accusatory manner when we had permission to be there. It left a really bad taste in my mouth. We walked into this building and the lady up front pressed the button to go up to the top of the building. The place has 2 restaurants. The top restaurant has an amazing view of the city from the terrace. I would have loved to sit out there and eat if it wasn't winter and wasn't closed. The bottom restaurant offered a pretty overpriced breakfast. I paid 20 bucks for toast and a coffee (which is insane). The toast did have an awesome strawberry jam. The place also has a nice lounge area, movie theater, and a hair studio. The place has a gym that has a great view of New York. The place doesn't offer a lot of gym equipment, however.
