Their website says they're the real mexicans. So we put them to the test. The burrito was really delicious from salsa, rice, bean, to the meat, but everyone knows that's technically Tex Mex. The real test we ordered was POZOLE ROJO. Absolutely for real delicious. Albeit the authentic Mex flavour isn't quite a match to western palate (there's a reason they invented Tex Mex instead of just importing the whole menu), though give it a chance and it may grow on you. If we go again we'll try their other "weekend-only" specials and see if they brought the whole fiesta. read more

What a great little Mexican restaurant in Surry Hills. The waitress was very friendly and helpful with the menu choices. We chose the fabulous Mole - shredded chicken seasoned with mole and served with rice, beans, salad and pico de gallo. Amazing taste and a generous serving size. We drank some Corona beers to make a perfect dinner meal! The cost was rather expensive at $71 but it was a good tasty Mexican experience. read more

This is like a little hidden gem. It's not awesome Mexican that you get in the states but it's about a close as I've found in Sydney. I booked here for a friend's birthday and it ended up being a fun night. From the outside it looks a bit small on the inside. There's a long table and tables around the long table that are along the wall and front of store. The long table held all 10 of us easily. There's some great murals inside that kept us entertained. There's quite the selection of beer, from chilli to an amazing one that was called Immortal beloved and tasted quite nice. I, of course, frank margaritas all night from a skull. Totally awesome and ladylike. My mother would have died. The orders toook a while to come out, the entrees came out with the mains which was a bit upsetting as we were all starving and wanted to nibble on our shared foods before the mains. My naked burrito made me super happy. Partner got a deep fried burrito which ended up making him sick, however no one else got sick. All in all though I did love this place. They also do vegan & delivery orders as well as pick up. And it was always busy. Ps. I was feeling some Mexican and noticed this place on Crown Street that I believe opened up the past year. When it comes to Mexican in Sydney...it's pretty hit or miss, mostly on the miss side (authentic Mexican and Tex-Mex.) I wasn't expecting much. I'm kind of glad I didn't expect much because I was pleasantly surprised by the food here. This place is actually run by Mexicans so you know it has some heart. I got the ground beef chimichanga and my friend got the chili con carne burrito. I like that they have pico and guacamole on the side. Both were fresh and spiced well enough. They serve cerveza (beer) here too, so you can get your drink on. It's on the slightly pricey side but it's Crown Street and you can't compare to California or Mexica since it's freakin Australia. I know I'll be back. The fajitas look delicious. read more

Great hole-in-the-wall! Good Mexican food for Sydney. High praise coming from a Southern California boy who grew up on a wide variety of excellent ethnic foods, especially from Mexico. Enchiladas were spicy but not over poweringly so. Prices not dirt cheap (like in SoCal), but reasonable and all ingredients are authentically sourced from Mexico, including the beers and wines. That said, only $10 for their lunch special. Owners and staff all from Mexico too. Hopefully they will continue to do well when they move to the new location down and across the street. Amazing and authentic Mexican food. This is the closest I've had to what I used to eat in the U.S. Great fish tacos and fajitas. The margaritas were a little too sweet. Was very disappointed with the quality of food . To me personally I would never consider this establishment Authenic Mexican Cuisine .The food was flavorless and dry. Was so impressed with this meal and experience. Had family and friends from overseas and had such a blast here. The menu is very authentic and well priced. The staff is super friendly and nice. Meh. Bland, uninspired Mexican food. It's okay in a pinch, but I hope there is better Mexican food in Sydney. The ground beef burrito "churros" were dry, had very little flavour, and were quite disappointing. Mostly just unseasoned rice inside. The salsa was really just pico and it was okay. The chips were pretty good, and the chilli con carne was decent. This is one genre that Sydney struggles with and it makes me miss Mexican food in the states. This is some of the best Mexican food I've found here in Australia. Not sure where in Latin America (if at all) the staff is from but they have a solid understanding of how the food should taste unlike some other places. The prices are reasonable but they're not going to compare to what can be found in the US where Mexican food is more abundant. For excellent enchiladas or nachos in Sydney look no further! The gentleman who runs this shop has brought authentic as you can get border Mexican food to us here. The verde sauce is dead on. While it may not be as spicy as some officianados would like he is using all the right ingredients with no silly Aussie additions waiting inside your tortilla like carrots and cucumber (WTH Aus- srsly). Loved it! Went here with some friends during a visit to Sydney. We had a mix of vegan/vegetarian and carnivores. It's a cute little place with a great spot to sit and people watch. Being from Texas, I have pretty much survived on Mexican food my whole life. I was warned that Australia would not have good Mexican food, so I did not have very high expectations. I was suprised to actually enjoy the food at this place. It was not as spicy as I would like, but I will just have to order the hottest level of spice next time. read more
