They take what could be a relatively peaceful and straightforward process and turn it into an expensive, drawn-out conflict over items that often end up where they started. Excessive paperwork and poor communication with opposing counsel on straightforward matters frequently lead to increased billable hours and a more contentious case. Instead of reaching out for negotiations by telephone or correspondence, Casteel tends to file for court dates, using combative language that states "opposing counsel has been unwilling..." without ever attempting to negotiate. Like most attorneys, going to court incurs a minimum of $2,000 from your retainer. However, with Casteel, you may find yourself making multiple trips without ever actually seeing a judge. Instead, you will likely wait in a conference room for hours while the attorneys negotiate back and forth, eventually reaching an agreement that could have been proposed and accepted weeks earlier through a couple of conversations--making the court trip entirely unnecessary. Barron is an average attorney at best and often displays laziness. Discussions with other attorneys in town will likely validate this assessment. Carter, on the other hand, is a competent attorney but has a tendency to engage in disputes over virtually anything, regardless of its significance. She prefers fighting over negotiating, making it a costly process for even the simplest items that could be settled easily. It's essential to understand that not every aspect of a case has to be contentious; finding middle ground allows for greater willingness to compromise on more significant issues. Casteel frequently relies on temporary orders, which serve as rules of engagement until the case is finalized. More rules equate to more expenses and unnecessary tension. They will file motions requesting obscure and restrictive conditions without any supporting evidence, only to advise you later in court to concede to more generous terms. This approach is a waste of both time and money. During mediation, which is meant to facilitate compromise towards a final agreement, Casteel tends to focus on unnecessary temporary orders instead of discussing anything final. Their goal during mediation appears to be avoiding a resolution, as final settlements would not generate additional fees for them. Barron and Carter often swap cases, meaning that Barron could be your attorney while Carter represents you at mediation. Unfortunately, they do not communicate effectively about the details of the case, wasting time by rehashing events from months prior. Moreover, Carter may reopen previous agreements, choosing to fight for a different direction than what Barron previously agreed upon. They will request extensive discovery information from the opposing party while openly admitting that they do not review it unless it goes to court. Understanding both the strengths and weaknesses of the case is crucial in finding agreement outside of a courtroom. However, their team often spends an excessive amount of billable hours "reviewing" your own discovery response, which will ultimately be submitted incomplete to opposing counsel. This incompleteness leads to further requests and additional billable hours to respond. While it may not be accurate to label Casteel as a bad firm, they clearly capitalize on billable hours and lack a sense of urgency when it comes to settling cases.

Takes your money and he won't even know your name OR your charge... not even by the third meeting. True story. Promises actions and can't remember at the next court date what he told you. Paid several thousands of dollars and found out at a hearing that he was "representing" 2 others as a court ordered lawyer, of which he knew their information much better than a paid client. In other words - I got a worse outcome than if I just would have gone with a court ordered lawyer (probably would have been him anyways). Either way would have been screwed. Best advice I can give is to go watch the lawyer you are thinking of hiring in front of a judge and a few other lawyers and see how he interacts with them. This guy was the laughing joke of the courtroom. No one respected him there - didn't take but one time to know that ... but had mistakenly paid already. Next advice don't pay all upfront for any lawyer, but don't pay him at all!!

This is going to be somewhat of a long review, so sorry in advance. Also, I kinda ramble on a bit,…read moreso please bear with me. Just trying to make the most accurate and honest review possible. I've used Mr. Wenk two times, once back in 2011 and again in 2017, in both times he has been great to have as my attorney, I'd arguably say Mr. Wenk is one of the best lawyers in town. He has been doing this stuff for a LONG time and knows what he is doing. The first time I needed legal help I had absolutely no idea how any of the legal world worked and had some help from my mom who found Mr. Wenk. She told me to go down to his office and talk to him, he was knowledgeable, answered any questions that I had and Wenk told me exactly what needed to be done by me to receive the best possible outcome for my case. He put most of my worries and anxieties at ease by simply just talking with him and having him explain things to me, I was worried I would have to go to court and miss some classes for my court date but, to my surprise he told me that he would be able to go to court for me. After a year and some change he was able to get this case expunged and taken off my record! Fast forward to now, years after my last legal battle, I did some idiotic things and got myself caught up in a pretty bad situation with some potential long-term jail time with a felony over my head. I knew exactly who to call, so I called up Mr. Wenk, while I was still being booked in the jail, he was able to call up the judge and work his magic and even got my bond price reduced! The very next day I went to his office and he told me what I needed to do and what my options were. I go to work and did my stuff and eventually Wenk was able to somehow, by some miracle, convince the powers that be, to drop my 2nd degree felony to a C Misdemeanor. I was astounded, I was so certain I was going to have to live with this felony over my head for the rest of my life. I'd have to fight to get a house, a car, a job. I would've gotten kicked out of school, my entire life would've been an uphill battle if that felony hadn't have gotten lowered. Again, just like the last case, Wenk was able to get my horrible situation resolved, he got my record expunged and wiped clean. Overall I am completely satisfied with both outcomes that Mr. Wenk was able to provide for me, he is professional, lays out exactly what needs to be done and doesn't mess around. Another thing I found that was a plus was that his pricing was actually pretty decent, I was always under the impression good lawyers cost butt load of money, which wasn't that case with him. All in all, I would definitely recommend Mr. Wenk to anybody that needs help with their legal issues or has any questions. 10/10
