I had Mi Casa at their Farmer's Market stand, so I can't really speak to their ambiance, but the food itself was amazing! Very flavorful, and perfect portion size. The chipotle sauce was really really tasty, and had a nice kick. I got the stewed eggplant over rice and peas and loved it. The woman who was working the stand was also really nice and quick service.

Am I in the Lowed East Side NYC?? Or more accurately DR? Super tasty, healthy portions (I hope they still do ok, Rent-wise, with those generous portions), good pricing & container size options. I got the $7.50 medium size & a $2 Beef Empanada. You can mix & match, which was great. Rice & pigeon peas, stew chicken, sautéed Yucca, I asked for "one" shrimp just to try it. Their salmon looked good too-next time. I saw a customer asking to try a bit & they gave a sample of the fish in a tiny cup. The Dominican Cake in the Fridge (is that tres leches?) looks really good- for next time. Interesting Latin sodas also, malta.. I've passed by a few times & they seem to have a steady stream of customers, young families, professionals that work downtown AND phone orders. They have an empanada club card also- too cute. The service is quick & nice, food is extremely fresh and flavorful- I'll be a regular. Supposedly there is Sancocho soup on Saturdays, oxtail sometimes too- that Anthony Bourdain episode in DR has me intrigued. The space is very clean & bright, with a small L shaped counter to eat. Appreciate the little footrest at the counter for us short people. Thank you for Flavor!

Great price for such delicious food and large portion sizes! Everything was perfectly seasoned, nothing was overly salted. If you want a home cooked meal you've come to the right place. The tres leche... wow it was gone in 5 minutes. Very light and not overly sweet. Staff was also very warm and inviting.

A small Bodega style food joint. The food is displayed behind glass you just tell them what you want. It's very good and reasonably priced.

I love the place and the food but the meat portions are too small, ends up being a bowl of full of rice.

You could eat closer to the bar to enjoy the music and people watching, or toward the back with the fire place. Service was great. Our waiter was helpful as we tried to figure out what to get, and we even had a chance to talk with the owners son. After going back and forth with the menu that is full of great options, I ordered the Bistec Encebollado, grilled veggies, rice and pigeon peas, and plantains. The steak was so big, I totally left with a second meal. My husband ordered peppered steak, mashed potatoes and grilled veggies, and that was also a large serving. Both meats were juicy, tender, and well seasoned. The mashed potatoes were freshly mashed and perfectly seasoned, as were the vegetables, and the plantains were nice and sweet. I will definitely be coming back. The vibe was nice, and the food was delicious!

I was warmly greeted, seated, and given a menu and then it took some time, well after I was ready, to be visited to place my order. No biggie, but I was ready and it wasn't busy, with guests at 1 other table. When I finished my meal, I waited again. Not a huge problem but a lot of side work was being done vs providing service. I let server know I was all set and he acknowledged then continued to make drinks for kitchen staff. I had ordered lemonade but after checking, it looked like they were out, so he offered the juice (without explaining). Food was very tasty. Lunch was $37 before tip, for 3 tacos meal, 3 empanadas app, and the fruit drink.

I can put down quite a bit of food so if I order the "three traditional tacos" then I'm usually left wanting just one more... so I typically go for the burrito to try and fill up a bit more. The chorizo is delicious and seasoned very well. The salsa verde that is served with each taco/burrito is also delicious. During winter they put up some "bubble" tents outside with heaters. They don't have much seating inside and if the restaurant is busy then you might be caught in a pickle... but I've been lucky enough to find a free table here reliably. I've been visited by out-of-state friends a few times and I typically introduce them to this restaurant (as one of my local favorites) and they usually love it.

For starters, I was impressed by the bright, cheerful decor. The painted furniture depicted charming village scenes of people, places and animals. There's a friendly hostess to greet guests by the door. Our server was nice and helpful, too. My friend ordered carne asada ( beef) tacos and I ordered chorizo (pork sausage) tacos. They are generous with portions. Our corn tortillas were stuffed with meat. Plenty of sauces, refried beans, chopped onions, cilantro and sliced limes came with each dish. The food was delicious and certainly authentic. I ordered a virgin pina colada since I was driving. It was wonderful. It tasted like dessert in a glass. I honestly don't know why this place didn't rate higher. Customers had nice things to say but were stingy when giving out stars. For my part, I think my Salsa Latina experience was worthy of 5 stars.

Chef Mike and his sous Sysco seem to work this kitchen. I ordered fish tacos, and my husband ordered chicken enchiladas. He commented that it all tasted like it had been nuked (and he's nowhere near as fussy as I am). My tacos consisted of 3 flabby, unpleasantly rubbery tortillas with several pieces of "deep fried" fish (which was greasy and tasted of old oil), and nothing more. No lettuce, no tomato, no cheese, no jalapeños. For sides, there was a small dish of burned refried beans (and they tasted like the bottom of the pan in which they'd been cooked had been absolutely carbonized - just awful) with what I think was cheese on top; a small dish of bland, dried-out rice with peas that looked like they'd been harvested in the Clinton admin. There was also a "spicy sauce" that tasted like puréed Ro-Tel tomatoes and peppers mixed with mayo. The ONLY toppings for the tacos were chopped onions and cilantro in a teeny condiment container - barely enough for 1 taco, let alone 3. Off-market bottled hot sauce (different colors, same ingredients). The server was wonderful - friendly and informative - but not wonderful enough to make up for spending $60 on 2 beers, 2 lunches and a tip. Don't bother.
