A group of four other co-workers and myself headed to Mia Faccia for a day of pampering. The experience truly went above my expectations. Three things really stuck out to me about the experience: 1) They were amazingly accommodating! Two days before we wanted to come in we called Mia Faccia and they were able to accommodate all five of us, who were each having multiple services. We came in Thursday morning and were the only party there, so it was nice and quiet, and everyone got their services done in a timely manner. 2) The ambience is just what we needed - calm, relaxing, and sophisticated. The relaxation room in the back is so cute and calming; I want one in my apartment. 3) The services were great! All of us raved about the staff and the services we received, which included massages, manicures, pedicures, and facials. I had a facial from Lisa, and she made me feel so comfortable and pampered. Very unprofessional Salon. Walked in 20 minutes prior my appointment in case there was a paperwork to fill out. No one was at the front desk. After sitting down for five minutes technician came out with her guest, checked her out and never acknowledged me or said hi. Another five minutes past and receptionist walks in from outside, never says hi, sits at her desk, looking at the computer screen, doing something on her phone, five minutes later I stood up, said hi to her and ask if I need to check him. She said that my massage therapist will be with me when ready. While I sat for 10 more minutes Kylie -the receptionist went outside again and stayed there. Another aesthetician came out to check her client out and never said hi either. Then the owner walked her client out of the facial room and chatting with her and her friend while she never acknowledge me or said hi. I felt very unwelcome. Finally my massage therapist approaches me 15 minutes past my scheduled time and hands me paperwork. after she checks out her client and set up the room for me she apologizes for being late. Jessica was lovely lady and gave me my full 90 minutes. I was scheduled for deep tissue, but unfortunately it wasn't strong enough. Not holding it against her, some therapist just are not able to do a deep tissue. Jessica said that she did her best. Never complained, just left very disappointed. The whole experience started Bad from the moment I walked in, then during the massage hair dressers were so loud and you can hear loud footsteps on the hardwood floor throughout the whole massage. Even if I didn't get the deep tissue that I was expecting, it wouldn't even count for relaxing massage because of the noise and the way the whole salon was unprofessional. read more

I was so pleased that I made several other appointments: waxing, laser, special occasion hair style and special occasion make up. Every experience went very well. Staff are friendly. The place was clean, the people were nice, and the service was fine. We were there for a spa mani/pedi and a facial, and I was glad that they fit us in despite having back to back appointments. While there were decent colors to choose from for the mani/pedi, just 3 days later, I feel like it's a bit chipped/not the best quality. Got my hair done here for a Bridal party. The stylist were provided with a specific style the bride choose. There were, I believe 6 of us total and we all arrived with washed, dry hair. There were 3 stylists working on us while another bridal party was getting their make up done. All in all we were there for maybe 90 minutes? They worked very fast and for the most part was able to copy the hair style. I had an up-do with lots of bobby pins and didn't acquire the usual "too tight headache" that typically accompanies such a hair style. The girl who did my hair wasn't very chatty though and seemed more annoyed that I had so much hair for the style and required some thinking out of the box. read more

I went to Mia Faccia for a facial about two months ago. The woman that completed my facial was professional and knowledgable. She did a great job and took her time. After this positive experience, I decided to make a hair appointment. My appointment for a cut and color was made with Diana. Prior to my appointment, my hair was just below my shoulders. I brought in a picture of exactly what I wanted, which could have been labeled as a trim. I specifically explained to Diana that I did not want to go shorter than the picture example and that I did not want any thinning completed. She stated that she understood. Instead of a permanant color, we decided to complete a semi-permanant gloss coloring. Diana seemed very rushed and not very friendly. She told me how tired she was from working so many shifts. I get it. I worked in the service industry for many years. However, I also have a firm understanding that it is not the customer's fault for my work schedule or outside personal problems. She told me that she has been with Mia Faccia for eight years, which I find unbelieveable considering her lack of experience. I also understand that it is a courtesy, not required, but I was never offered anything to drink or even a magazine. Diana ended up rushing my color. I thought it the day of and I can now tell because I have strands that are super faded for just getting the color a little over a week ago. The cut that she gave me looked nothing like the picture that I showed her. She basically cut off all of my hair, no joke. She also left some strange tail in the back?? She chuckled about it and said, "Oops! I think I cut it too short!" It was unreal that she she found it funny. I would like to see how funny she would find it if someone literally cut off all of her hair-then laughed in her face. On my way out, I asked the receptionist to have the manager call me. After my disaster of an appointment, I ended up having to call to speak with the manger (Angie) considering that she never called me. I was very surprised at with her reaction. She did not seem concerned in any way, even when I was in tears explaining what happened. She said that they could fix my hair the following week, which I thought was unacceptable. You have an unhappy customer and you can "fix" my hair in 5 days? I do understand that this happened prior to the holidays and schedules might have been limited, but there was no sense of urgency from Angie as a manager. When I explained the strange cut that I was given, Angie actually laughed about it on the phone. I personally find this so unprofessional and unreal. How often does this happen? Why are you still in business? How do you even have any business if customers are treated in this way? I should add that they did refund me my $40 (after I requested it multiple times and multiple phone calls) which was the cost of the haircut. I am grateful that they did this, but I personally think they should have refunded my total balance paid. I ended up making an appoinment with Rachel at Clearwater Salon in Lake Geneva. She "fixed" my hair the best she could considering the condition it was in, which meant cutting it even shorter, huge thanks to Diana and Mia Faccia! It literally was so chopped, thinned and different lengths. It is now up to my ears. I couldn't put a ponytail in to save my life for those errand or lazy days. I highly recommend Clearwater Salon, if you too have visted Mia Faccia and began with hair and left as a half bald woman, as I did. If you have an appointment with Diana, my advice to you is to CANCEL as fast as you can. I wish someone had given me this advice the day of my appointment I would have RAN (literally) out the door. It's really too bad, because I would have returned for at least another facial. After this experience, I will never return or recommend this salon to anyone, not even my worst enemy. There should be an option for zero stars. read more

My friends and I literally just walked out. We are in town for my friend's birthday and decided we wanted to have a girls spa experience. One friend had a facial which she loved, my other friend had massage which she also loved, but I had the WORST experience. I'm not sure if I was just the lucky girl to get the girl right out of beauty school, but my mani/pedi was a mess! The polish was very old and thick and the technician was having a hard time getting out the bottle. Also, she didn't have a steady hand and my polish on both my hands and feet turned out as if I had painted them myself. She was very nice and I have her what I consider a good tip considering, but I am so extremely disappointed I could cry! My total was $55 for a BASIC manicure/pedicure. I came to Mia Faccia with my mother and sister for her 30th birthday. There were a few hiccups in our reservation (information wasn't relayed from the receptionist to the massage therapists and the birthday girl didn't get her massage first). I got a facial and my mother got a massage, both of which were great, and the aesthetician and the massage therapist that attended to us were WONDERFUL! Unfortunately, my sister had a very negative encounter with the receptionist there which caused her to not want her massage, which is incredibly disappointing considering it was for her birthday. read more

Pros (i.e. the reason I put 2 stars instead of just 1): I went to try out this business because it is very close to where I live and having a salon within walking distance from my house would be very convenient. The person who answered the phone was polite, and the place was clean and nicely decorated. They also had beverages to offer, which is a perk. Cons: My stylist did not make me feel comfortable at all and wouldn't talk to me. I did not get the haircut I wanted because I was not confident the stylist could do it without messing up my hair. When I went back to get a touch-up with a different stylist for the haircut I wanted, they charged me for it. My stylist seemed to be having a bad day and rejected all of my attempts at small talk or lightening the mood. I feel like it's part of her job to talk to clients and make them feel relaxed. I showed her a couple pictures of what I wanted and also explained what I wanted in words; I wanted an asymmetrical bob and I wanted her to extend my undercut over my ear and up to my face on one side. The picture really helped to show what I meant. My hair was bent out of shape from being in a pony tail that day, so I showed her a couple pictures of my natural hair texture to help with gauging how short to cut it when it was wet. I thought that would be helpful. After washing my hair, she said she would start with cutting the long part of my hairstyle because (regarding the shaved part) she "didn't understand what I wanted." That made me VERY nervous, so I told her I changed my mind and didn't want her to shave my hair. It would take forever to grow it out if she shaved off too much and I didn't want to go through that. I didn't know how else to explain it so if she didn't understand based on what I already said, I didn't want to risk getting a bad haircut. She wanted to know why, so I said that I was going to grow out the undercut and thought it would just be easier to grow out just that part. I didn't want to tell her that I wasn't confident in her ability to cut my hair while she was still cutting my hair. That would have made things more awkward than they already were. Then she cut the left side to be maybe 1/2" shorter and asked me if that was okay. I was kind of confused because the pictures showed a difference of about 2" when the hair is dry. I told her to cut it shorter because it was pretty obvious that it needed to be much shorter. She cut a little bit more off and asked again. I felt so nervous that she kept asking me because I felt like she wanted me to take responsibility for how it would look when I had no experience to help me made these decisions. I don't know how to cut hair and feel like the reason I came for her to cut my hair is because she should know how to cut wet hair to make it look a certain way dry for a certain hair texture. I told her that I just wanted it to look like the difference in hair lengths was made on purpose. She finished cutting my hair. She asked if I wanted it styled at all. I asked for it to just be blow-dried. She put mousse in my hair, which I didn't want because it made my hair sticky/crunchy, but that was okay because I didn't specify no products (but she didn't ask me either). She blow-dried it with an air diffuser, but it wasn't completely dry when she was finished, which isn't surprising because air diffusers aren't really strong at blowing the air. She put the diffuser directly on my scalp and it got very hot and I had to pull away. She commented on how hot it must have been, but didn't seem to feel very bad about it. At this point I just wanted to get out of there. At the end of the appointment, she started to tell me about a cool heart-shaped undercut that she had and offered to do it for me, if I wanted. She got really animated about it. I thought it was weird that she was finally getting more comfortable now that I was about to leave. It was also odd that she was offering to give me a shave style after I said that I was going to grow mine out. She followed me to the register and was looking on her phone to find a picture of this heart-shaped undercut (that I showed very little interest in). I paid for my haircut and was planning to put a tip on my credit card receipt (because I have some personal rules/standards and always tipping people who have jobs that expect tips is one of them), but I saw at the counter that they had a sign asking customers to give cash tips, if possible. I think she was following me waiting for a tip! I gave her cash instead and left. What a weird experience. A couple days later, I was still feeling unsatisfied that I didn't get the shaved part that I wanted so I called and gave a shortened version of this story and was told the store co-owner would shave my hair. I thought that meant she would do it for free as an apology for my bad experience. BUT NO. They still charged me the price of a bangs trim. I couldn't believe it. I will never come back here. read more

DO NOT GET LASER HAIR REMOVAL FROM THESE PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!!!! I got a brazilian done by their "fake" laser. It is an IPL (infrared pulsed light) they use which if you have darker skin down there, it will BURN YOU!!! I have reported them to the BBB and contacted GroupOn about this company. I left them a voicemail about my ordeal and they did not call me back. It is now the 3rd day since I had the 1st treatment of the 6 and I am STILL in pain. I have actual black patches and raw flesh falling off from my vagina, up my buttocks, and my inner thighs. This woman should have known that her laser is not ideal for dark skin. If my wounds do not heal, I have no idea what I am going to do. ASK questions before you go somewhere with laser hair removal, ask them if they are certified, experienced, what type of laser they use, if it is safe for darker skin, and if something does not feel right, painwise, tell them to stop! I cannot even explain the PAIN that I experienced during the ordeal. I have had laser hair removal done on my arms, legs, armpits, face, and have NEVER felt such excruciating pain. I am also a light Latina, but I told her that down there I had darker skin between my thighs and she didn't advise anything. She didn't even consult me before going in. This felt like someone was burning me and maliciously pinching my skin and then ripping at it. I asked her through it if it was normal to feel such horrible pain and she assured that some people are screaming from it. They should be ashamed of their ill practices. The only good thing is my money was fully refunded, BUT, I now have to figure out what to do about the scars and discolorations with another doctor. read more
