A rounded pleasant looking building situated in Collins park and located near to the new Collins parking garage - Nice to see some interesting architecture whilst there.

Best ballet in the south east USA, probably top 10 in the states. Edward Villella's artistic vision blossomed into a world class company, still proudly representing the Balanchine repertoire. A beautiful modern studio. Performances are always well produced. The season schedule is diverse and full of quality choreography. They have a nice mix of classical, neoclassical, and contemporary. The company has a boutique feel, with just 40 dancers, but high quality technique and musicality, and stunning performances. My gf and I came to visit the studio on our break, and we saw Justin Pek was here a few days ago :)

Not a strip mall stage wedged between a nail salon and a frozen yogurt shop. A real theater. The kind that feels like it was built for big voices, bright lights, and the occasional crowd singing along a little too loudly after a couple of pre-show drinks. That's the first thing you notice about the Broward Center for the Performing Arts. Sitting right along the river in downtown Fort Lauderdale, the place just looks like it belongs there. Modern lines, big glass, clean design. But at the same time it still carries the charm and warmth you expect from a classic theater. It feels like a venue that was designed for nights out. Once inside, the layout works well. Sightlines are excellent. Whether you're down low or up in the higher seats, the stage is easy to see and you never feel like you're watching from a bad angle. But here's the one thing that caught us by surprise. The sound system struggles a bit when you get up into the higher seats. The speakers just don't quite reach that far with the same clarity, so the sound can come across a little muffled. Here's the pro tip. If you're sitting high, save the money and go cheaper on the ticket because the sound quality up there probably won't match what you'd expect from a premium seat anyway. The parking situation has actually improved. Getting in is easier now that they switched to the pay by plate app system. You drive in, park, handle the payment on your phone and head to the show. Simple. Leaving, however, is another story. Getting out of the parking lot after a show can feel like a bit of an adventure. This is where patience becomes part of the evening's entertainment. Give yourself time and don't expect a quick exit. We saw Darius Rucker last night, and even with the sound challenges in the higher seats, it was still a really fun night. Good music, a great crowd, and the kind of energy that makes live shows worth it every time. Here's the move if you're coming here. Go early. Grab dinner or drinks somewhere nearby. Walk over without rushing and enjoy the atmosphere around the theater. And when the show ends, don't fight the traffic. Take your time and let the crowd thin out. Do it that way and the Broward Center becomes exactly what it should be. An outstanding way to spend a Saturday night.

Built at a cost…read moreof $150,000, it first opened as a 1,200 seat Art Deco Paramount Pictures movie house on January 25, 1935 with actress Carol Lombard as the guest of honor. In the 1940's during WWII, the theater showed health and training videos to GI's in training. In the 1960's the movie theater was renovated along with all of Lincoln Road in the MiMo style of architecture (midcentury modern). Seating capacity was reduced to 894 seats. In the ensuing years the Colony used as a movie house and a live performance space. In 1971 Samuel Kipnis purchased the theater and used it to host The Greater Miami Educational Cultural Series and he showed educational films from his private collection. In 1982 ownership of the theater was taken over by the City of Miami Beach and the Miami City Ballet used it as a performance space. In 2006 the Colony Theatre underwent a $6.5 million renovation that returned it to its original Art Deco style and updated it with new light and sound equipment. I love when a historic building is saved, especially when it is such a wonderful example of Art Deco architecture. How wonderful that the theater is still being used today. It is even said to be haunted to be the spirit of a barking poodle and one that likes to hang out by the main stage and lobby. Today the Colony Theatre is a 417 seat performance venue managed by South Florida theater company, Miami New Drama who perform their theatrical season in the theater. The Colony also hosts film festivals, comedy, music, dance, and theater performances. The theater is nicknamed "Miami's Beauty Queen." Make like the golden age of Hollywood and take in a show. .

That's really the key to a long relationship-seeing each other on a regular basis, doing things that are fun and different outside of the house, consistent quality time without work interruptions. Making this a priority - is important. All of you out there "newlyweds" trust me it makes a difference. So we went to the Colony theater on Lincoln Road. It was a cool night -perfect for a cocktail, relaxing and easy.. no hurry just taking in the sights and sounds. Latin music playing in the background, smell of perfume and spices in the air- outdoor cafes with with the warmth of flame lamps lighting the cool air. Breezing into the theater the sweet girl at the door greeted us with a huge smile and scanned our tickets. I fell in love with the play " Anna in the Tropics" this extraordinary play written by the Pulitzer Prize winner Nilo Cruz-playwright and director -is a work of art! It demonstrates the power of literature to move and inspire you. One of my favorite books, Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy, is central to this play. I thoroughly enjoyed the powerful images presented in this masterpiece. Art and literature came together in an extraordinary and impactful way. It is a play for adults because it deals with strong themes. But it is well done! I highly recommend this play! It is worth every penny. The quaint theatre situated on Lincoln Road surrounded by restaurants and bars was also quite comfortable and accommodating.
