I wouldn't recommend anyone come here for training whoever has blindness as vision ally impaired. I wouldn't come back after my disaster experience with a typing teacher who happened be blind , young rebal and immature didn't even know how to treat students like human made things such a nightmare trouble with case manager nobody who work there didn't even excite care has no empathy didn't even have a courage to encourage students achieve goals which they didn't want to work or help due to some of their field based on lacking experience with disabilities! No one would return to that place after experiencing such discouragement, and it only made the situation worse. I felt empathy for students who went similar thing like what I did before no one should have came back for such a disencourqgement or negative energy it never will work this way! It is so hard now a days to find a place with excellent customer service, the Miami lighthouse has an amazing group of individual willing to go above and beyond to help each and everyone that walks in through their doors. I met with John and Priscila at the Solution store and they were able to help me and my grandmother find a device that helped her read better. We are so appreciative of the patience they had with us and the hard work they put in to make sure she found what she was looking for. Thank you so much! Highly recommend this location to anyone looking for anything in the low vision market. Not only are their prices affordable but they genuinely care to make a difference in the life's of people going through visual difficulties! Be VERY wary of ordering from Miami Lighthouse (which goes through MaxiAids/HearMore); the shipping cost estimate you get when ordering has nothing to do with the jacked up costs you will get hit with (not to mention a warning onscreen that essentially says "Hey this cost is just a suggestion; we can pump it up some more and you won't see it until you look at your invoice upon receipt!". . Granted, these are businesses (actually one) and the market served is niche at best, but please, be honest when selling items. The Miami Lighthouse Leaning Center has been a blessing for our family. My daughter started at 16 months old and since day one we felt it was the right decision. The teachers are loving and caring and the whole staff is always there for us. She is enrolled in the toddler class and we plan on keeping Adriana there as long as possible. I have no words to thank the endless attention everyone had with my mother, from the minute we walked in until we got back into the car. She was initially telling me on the way there how she didnt want to go, why I got her out of the house.. basically she was only going since my cousin had set it up for her. On the way back, she said she felt at home. She is looking forward to go again. The Doctor, Raquel etc where so helpful. And now she has some hope as she can read a bit with a special magnifier and will be getting books she can hear (reading was her number one hobby). This has been the best christmas present for me. This is a great environment for the visually impaired. It's not in the greatest of neighborhoods, but once you're inside the building and garden you forget about the outside. I attended the Music Under The Stars: Bon Appetit Miami Fundraiser. There was a huge silent auction, great food and drinks from several different restaurants, and a dessert bar! There was also a few visually impaired patrons of the Lighthouse playing instruments and chatting with the visitors. All in all it was a great night and I can't wait for next years event. :) read more

My son began attending the Miami Lighthouse Learning Center at two years old in the toddler classroom and is currently in the Pre-k class. He is always happy to go to school and full of smiles when we pick him up. I attribute this to the exemplary teaching and community feel of the school. His teachers are so caring and patient towards all their students and make every child feel loved. Since attending the program, we have seen tremendous growth in his development. He has learned how to be independent, empathetic, and has drastically increased his language skills. As a parent, I couldn't want anything more from a school.
